    I bought a "parts or repair" Mobula6 for dirt cheap that was advertised as having a bad motor that ended up just being a slipped outer sleeve on the motor bell that was dragging against the base. After fixing it by pushing the sleeve back up, I eventually noticed the affected motor wouldn't start reliably at the end of a battery and thought, "Oh, that's why he wanted it gone," until I noticed all four motors were doing it. Time to start playing with ESC settings. Turns out the solution for my quad was identical, right down to the value used, so thanks for leading me in this direction.

I spent quite a bit of time on this -- and it kind of flopped in terms of views, BUT I'm incredibly happy to hear that this was the video that help you fix the mobula 6, and lead to you getting in the air dirt cheap! 😎 Made my day to hear that it was all worth it now. @@JohnCuppi I had JESC ESC on that ESCs on a older build. But I think the problems are motors which are not the same in power when beginning to spin. In JESC ESC or BLHeli-S, the setting was easy with a Dropdown. But that min / max shit, you have to figure out and your video did exactly that 🙂

      Are you using Dynamic Idle or Static Idle when you enabled the Bi-Directional D-Shot & Dynamic Filtering? Happy Model actually recommends on their website now to use 1100/1200 on the Mobula7 X12 ELRS, which does have different ESC Model names though. I believe its Z-30 or something similar.
      But whenever i armed my quad, only two, maybe three of the motors spun up for dynamic idle and they were cogging alittle and making a weird noise, i got it closer with dynamic idle set at 80 but that seems crazy.. Once raised from idle they work perfect though which is strange. They also all work fine with the motor test in ESC Config or Betaflights motor tab also.
      So i had to go and put 20% idle, into the static idle box, running DShot300 btw, and its working okay now. It was suggested by someone else and i figured it would work, but thats not really how i wanted it to be, if possible. Id just rather have dynamic idle set instead, if i can get that to work.
      I already tried maxing out both sliders for a test and it helps but it seems like its not enough and it just doesnt seem to like and it doesnt work correctly..
      I flashed to the Bluejay really for the increased flight time and the extra features like B-direcentional dshot, rpm filtering, dyn notch filtering etc. Everything was fine beforehand but i was getting 3min flight times flying easy on a GNB 660mah Lihv battery..
      Thanks for the video @JohnCuppi

    0:43. You saved my arse. I was wrestling with trying to get any of the ESC FW configurators to read my ESCs all day and they kept failing. Plugging in a battery was what I was missing... Thank you for relaying your experience! Oh and the difficulties you resolved with failing to get the motors started are going to help me big time! I tried moving from BLHeli_M to BlueJay but was running into that exact issue, on all 4 motors. I think the ASync startup power in BLHeli_M was carrying me cause I had reverted it back and it worked fine.

      Honestly, I did not expect this to happen. I've flashed ESC firmware many times before and never encountered anything quite like this. One thing I did not talk about in the video is that I attempted to flash back to JESC 48khz, and it still didn't work! I had to reload settings using my Mobula 6 HD and then it functioned again in JESC. Either I'd gotten lucky, or this issue was something that would repeat itself. So, I attempted it again in this video and it did. I hit it head on, hoping I wouldn't break anything and it worked out. I'm glad you appreciated it, thanks for checking it out! 😎

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JohnCuppi I found the problem. I blew a power regulator on the board which is responsible for the ESC that is missing. Probably blew it up when I flashed Bluejay, so it was faulty hardware caused by me when I squished my stack a little to tight to fit my build.

      Man, I have no idea. The startup power method has always fixed this for me. I’m assuming you’ve tried raising the startup power a bit more than what I have here? Is it a possibility at all that the motor itself may be slightly separated from the bell? This sometimes also stops it from starting up.

    I have ruined my mobula 6 completely by flashing bluejay on BLHeli-S. It played the music and I tried to fly but it didn't get off from the ground. I had one motor not spinning beforhand which I ignored initially. I took star wars theme for music. Now it doesn even want to connect and read my setup. When i wanted to flash the BLHeli-S 16.7 firmware as it was originally for this ESC, blheli configurator yells at me that unknow 0.16 bluejay frimesre is on the ESC and I can completely damage the ESCs by trying to flash a BLHeli-S firmware. What should I do now??? Terrible experience. It didn't show me any more options in betaflight either. I should mention that I choose 96mhz for rpm when flashing.
