Absolutely awesomeness!! HOOK UP With Jon without the H hear on you tube. Another awesome guy. I'm sure he can help with chasing those awesome maneuvers. I'm excited for you . Congrats!!! NOW I want a jet. LOL Just need a place to fly non STOL planes.
Good job!! The term "alpha" is short for Angle of Attack (AOA), probably from the phonetic alphabet. Thus, a "high alpha maneuver" is a high angle of attack maneuver. It is much easier to do with jets like the F-22 Raptor, which has vectored thrust, so doing it on an F-16 is quite the accomplishment!
AWESOME everything...take offs, landings and harriering!! Nate, you DID a FANTASTIC flight job!! ABBY, you DID a MARVELOUS photography job!! Thanks Saylors, you're the BEST!! 💟👍😘
Nate, you need to get an Osprey to fly!! Also, near the end of a pass, throttle up & try to get it shooting straight up!! Just a suggestion!! Will an EDF RC plane do a high Delta climb from a roll? Used to watch my test pilots do that to my F-15's in St. Louis...
Beavo Nate, well done. Pushing your limits is how you progress. If you only fly in your comfort zone, thats where you’ll stay. And Kudo’s to Miiss Abbey, great camera skills. Thanks Guys 😁
Amazing work. Great plane. In my top 3 to pick up when I can afford to re-fill the hanger. I got to watch the Blue Angels at St. Louis in June, and they did the High Alpha Harrier. I hope to see the Thunderbirds in Kansas City in early Sept and I'm certain they will do the High Alpha Harrier as well. Nicely done Nat. Nicely done sir. May God as always bless you both in all things.
Hi Nate, Abby! If you have the decal sheet still I'd recommend adding the stars to the tail . It makes it look a lot less plain And adds that extra scale punch! Good job building up the confidence to do the high alpha stuff
Hey Nate! I’m looking for my first jet and i have experience on an Extra 300 and i can fly inverted and do some above- average maneuvers and was curious about this thunderbird being a first jet. Thoughts?
Beautiful job! Flying on the edge of a stall is so counter-intuitive that its an intimidating maneuver. Well done and congratulations on adding a new skill to your repertoire, and thanks for letting us all share the experience. God bless you and yours!
Cut a clean line just 4mm deep along the rearmost panel line on the leading edges of the upper side of the wings and gently bend down the leading edges to 3 degrees for perfect high alpha manoeuvring and gentler approaches, very little forward speed is sacrificed but for speed flying just return it to nuetral and reflex the flaperons by a degree or two.
Haha.. very excited here nate. You can tell with all the random terminology.. high alpha harriering and dorsal fins lol. A few tongue slips is understandable considering the focus needed during these maneuvers.
I assumed that the name "high alpha" is related to the shape of an "A". Mostly from the front or back the aircraft looks like a flying "A" due to its steep angle. But I agree with the high angle of attack explaination too 🥳
Mission accomplished. Fantastic flying, Nate. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Very impressive. Thanks for talking (thinking out loud) as you tried to enter this maneuver. One question I had/have is, is your F-16 completely stock? Did you increase your elevator throw? Did you program any electronic assist into your transmitter? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! Good question 👍 Completely stock. I could probably perform this a little easier with extra elevator programmed in, but honestly I’m happy with how this maneuver looks as is. I’ll probably not adjust anything. In fact, it’s SO Stock, I still haven’t reversed my retract switch the way I like it after hundreds of flights, lol 😂😂😅⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors thanks for your reply; appreciate it. Fantastic flying. I bought a used F-16, but I’ve only had six flights. I’ve practiced on the simulator, but I’m still afraid of mine. This year our grass field is closed in by eight foot high corn, so I probably won’t fly my jet this season, only the simulator. I only have a 6s 4000mAh battery, so mine is a little heavier. I still want to tip my hat to you for one fantastic flying, and pushing yourself beyond that level of fear and anxiety that I am still suffering from. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🫡
@@rlbutterfield Randy it’s an amazingly awesome jet! I used to be scared of mine, but I figured out it’s best balance point (on 3300 though) and the proper amount of throw for a good low rate. (I always fly in low rate unless I do an aerobatic maneuver.) It does have a fast roll rate, that’s for sure. I dare say I have it flying better than my Viper 70 (although now I have that one flying well, too!)
@@AerospaceMatt Matt, are you going to use your Dave-It-Yourself Aero Scout to bomb that gator in the pond at your flying site? CONGRATULATIONS!!! 👍🏻 NIIIIICE! 👍🏻
@@rlbutterfield Thanks! Hmm, interesting idea. I don’t want to litter though but I will conduct some low passes so the Gators can see that the NAVY B/A-100 AeroScout is loaded with droppable ordinance!
Cool. Congratulations. Is that easier to do into the wind or with the wind? Enjoyable video. BEAUTIFUL jet. What would be your recommendation for an early intermediate pilots first EDF Jet please? God bless
This thing can do amazing things modded to run on 8s 2200 (bigger ESC) with flaperons programmed. There is a great video of one modded like this on the tube.
@@TheRcSaylors I ended up removing foam in order to get two 4s 2200 75C Graphene lipos to fit. I also have an afterburner LED in the exhaust that helped with CG balance. I have never tried to High Alpha except to land. We have a grass runway. I just needed to get out of the grass quicker and land slower without fear losing the plane because of a lack of power. The extra power can help get you out of low speed trouble.
I enjoy this every time I watch it. Very nice maneuver, well done Nate. Beautiful jet and paint scheme. Sorry, couldn’t see the Eagle 🦅 on the bottom. Personally I am excited for the first of September. As a new patreon member, I’ll have my first Saylors ⚓️ stickers to display on my planes. God bless.
Great video and your pretty good at high alpha but next time maybe use an f 18 super hornet they are designed for these manoeuvres because they have sawtooth wings and leading edge extensions (LEX) and that makes for very good high alpha
@Donut vlog The F-16 Viper is also really good at high alpha (as you saw in the video) I think 90 percent of all F-18s on the market are F/A-18 A-D model “Legacy” Hornets.
