@Adam-dh3j- Giving Rielly the "C" will only legitimize his desire to hang around the opponent's net. Currently, about half the time MARNER ends up covering Rielly's spot because "#44 is below the opponent's goal line. With the "C", the Leafs won't be able to penetrate the opponent's blueline because Rielly would be there already and that would put the team " offside" ! Trade Rielly and get a " DEFENCEMAN", NOT A " ROVER".
I grew up in the 1960s in Montreal and the Leafs were our biggest rivals. Even then they struck me as a no-fun team and I think that's still true today. Unlike the Habs, they don't seem to like each other and somehow there's a lack of team spirit.

It's likely that Marner is going to be moved. However, the Leafs have major problems that go well beyond any one player: an unstable and ineffective bottom 6 forward group, a clearly subpar blue line, and current goaltending that is both inconsistent and injury-prone. I don't see Toronto being a serious cup contender any time in the near future.
For every game the team dresses 2 goalies, 6 defensemen, and twelve forwards. The reason for this is that hockey is a team game. Twenty players become one team. No game summary ever stated that 19 LEAFS WIN, 1 LEAF LOSES. To target one player to blame is unfair. Without Marner, you would have 19 losers instead of twenty. Marner is a great player who wants to win. Then he is criticized for being frustrated at not winning, without him, do the Leafs even make the playoffs? You can criticize him for what he isn’t; a playoff player who carries his team, like………, well, there’s……… well, no one on the Leafs. I guess it’s not Marner, but the team that is just not good enough.

The way the team wins is to become a TEAM. They need to get it drilled into their heads that every time their skates hit the ice they have to win their shift. Play hard to win the shift. Win each shift as they come. Play harder than the other team's shift. If they do this AS A TEAM they could turn these playoff into a lot of fun. Real men forgive and forget and face adversity together.

Like any team it's ok to give a team mate shit once and a while to help the good of the team, you are professionals, you suck it up, you remain friends and move on. And support and encourage your team mate and fans need to support players when they are in a slump. So if a goalie or player has a bad game or 10 cheer the hell out to that person and bring them up, not boo and bring them down even more. The way the game has progressed so big and so fast I believe the NHL needs to resize the rinks to larger ice. The spectator needs to watch and study and enjoy the plays to really enjoy the games. Mitch, as with most nhl players that are newly weds, fail to reach their playing peak again until about a year or so after getting married. This phenomenon is common among young Nhl players. His play will return to normal but because of his recent playoff play we may see him in another jersey next year. Let him play out his year and see if his play making returns to normal, as we may regret his departure as we have with many others.
