The Leafs are a Razzle Dazzle regular season team Once playoffs start they have no hunger for a Championship they stay in regular season mode not War mode ...Mitch could care less about winning soon as game 82 ends hes already planning his Summer to party in cancoon John Tavares trys a little but he is just getting too old...Matthews & Nylander are ok but need to get them wayyyy better linemates Woll is incredibly good but he's the Jeff Lupal of goaltenders (soft as tissue paper) needs a smart coach and for crying out loud bring in someone that knows how to run the pp/pk Guy Boucher you suck!!! all this coming from a long term Leafs fan since the Pat Burns era now he was a beauty head coach!

I'm a Habs fan and was shocked Marner was brought back after 2021. It's been obvious since then that his issue isn't a lack of playoff experience or needing to become a more complete player - he just doesn't care. He's always floating, no hustle, no muscle whatsoever in the playoffs.
But it's not just him. Is there anyone who has even once said "we needed to work harder / be better" after a playoff loss? I think O'Reilly did, but of course he's a winner. Otherwise it's always, "we were right there, we played our game, just didn't get the breaks" bla bla bla. They don't hold themselves accountable, so I don't see how a new coach will change their attitude. They're pampered and just don't care.

When the Leafs lost game7, I felt nothing. Nothing. We've all become so numb to this that it doesn't bother us any more. And THAT is the real indictment of this team. This is new - in previous years we were crushed. Flattened. We have now reached a point where we can't get any flatter, so to speak. If real change doesn't happen this summer I really can't see fans getting excited about next year when they know it will be more of the same.

@@supra3.063 The difference here, in my eyes, is the present management team. We had bad management for a long time and Bergevin was somewhat of a disaster. His outlook was "Get to the playoffs and see what happens" almost every years and there was little communication with the media and fans. Now the fans feel they are being kept in the loop better and the new attitude is to build a better team for years to come (hopefully, lol) Pretty sure we are a few years away from a great playoff run, but watching them bring in young talent and watch them grow into a great team will make Habs hockey fun again. I'm 64 and have seen some great Habs teams, but the time of dynasties may be coming to an end in this cap era and I know many people disagree with me, but at one point the NHL will be too watered down for my taste and expansion to 36 teams will make a lesser product, but those expansion fees have the NHL googly eyed !

A million years ago the Jays did something uncomfortable when they shipped out beloved players Tony Fernandez and Fred McGriff because simply winning a division was no longer good enough, the return was Alomar and Carter and the rest is history. Sad thing is this organization doesn’t even have to come close to winning a cup to be considered successful, a couple runs to the conference final would be huge after 8 yrs of the same formula failing, try something, anything, just make it different from this BS.

Playing head games with guys is not toughening anyone up its just being a mind gaming prick. If you think Babcock isn't an ass then you are just a dumb. Modano needed 1 more game to play game 1500 in his career and Babs scratched him for what? The last 10 games or so of the season? Thats ridiculous, Modano played the game the right way and was a vet that didnt deserve that treatment. Babcock opening night 2019 scratched Spezza after he just signed with the Leafs and Spezza had his whole family there, and Babcock scratched him last minute. Spezza played the next game. So why do it? He was also a vet that played too long and was too good of a player to deserve that treatment, he deserved respect. Thats what men do that are actually tough, they give and earn respect to those that deserve it. There are also plenty more examples of these stunts that Babcock pulled as well over his career you just need to research them. I love tough coachs like Berube, Torts or even Gallant but what Babcock did is not toughening guys up, thats not sending a message, thats not doing anything other than just being a prick to be a prick and play head games with people, thats what weak men do, they play head games, not tough guys.
You can be a hard nosed tough coach without the head games and tricks that Babcock used for YEARS over his career.

    As a team…
    - 1/21 on the PP in this series
    - 6 straight game #7 losses (7 incl CBJ in 2020)
    - 5 most recent game #7 loses they didn’t score more than 1 goal (2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019)

Woll team injured him to try to save a goal which they scored after a couple seconds after the dogpile. Mitch is afraid to take a hit and will never succeed in the playoffs because of it.

I'm a Rangers fan since '79 and I can say with certainty that while the Rangers have had a successful season (thus far) and I'm cautiously optimistic, the reality is that Glen Sather has been here in one capacity or another for nearly 25 years and with everything he has available to him pre and post Cap has exactly one Finals appearance in that time. He had a world-class goalie and couldn't do anything with him. When Sather hasn't had the shoulders of Messier or Gretzky to ride, he's been a sub-par executive who was more suited to running a lemonade stand than an NHL franchise. Yet, he keeps rolling.
Shanahan is in my 'Top 3' favorites ever. I was at his debut in the Meadowlands way back in the day. But ten years with no results is unacceptable. It insults those who have to produce results for a living.
