“You don’t have a goalie you can trust.“ That claim from Sid Seixeiro comes just over 2:30 into the video clip. Of Canada’s NHL teams I see this season: - neither the Flames nor Habs getting to see playoff action even with, between those teams, following games that ended before Eastern Time Sunday daylight saving time in the time zone for this year had ended, the Alberta one in a playoff spot even if only a wildcard one and only then by a single point via a 6-4-1-0 win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss record after 11 regular-season games (RSGs) - the Flames, Oilers, Jets and Sens all having already had two or more goalies with at least two wins of RSGs - the Leafs and Habs each having had one goalie with wins of two or more RSGs and at least one other with at least one win of an RSG - the Canucks having had a goalie with wins of multiple RSGs (Kevin Lankinen, having, in a game that ended early Sunday Eastern Daylight Time, helped the Canucks squeak by the Sharks 3-2 in regulation via having stopped 21 of 23 shots) but one (Arturs Šilovs) who, by contrast has, over his last three games in which he has played, all them starts, during which he has been a sieve via having allowed multiple ugly goals in each of those games
Cool to see him get so worked up when he knows the Leafs are basically screwed because of the money they’re giving to 4 forwards and their NMC’s !! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Does anyone see the irony with Shanahan? He refuses to make a change coming from a team (The Wings) that to win made drastic changes, one being getting him. The Wings traded Paul Coffey and Keith Primeau to get Shanny. Traded a 50-goal scorer in Ray Sheppard and traded away Dino Cicarelli. Why does he not see he needs to make some moves?
Agree 100% about what changes should be made and agree 99% that nothing will be done. There'll probably some small token change just to say they did something.

Ya, Sid is right about most of the problems. This commentary should be directed to the entire Leafs organization. Problem is, bad team or good team, the organization will always make money because of the size of the market! Very little will change as usual and we will say the same thing for the next 50 years. Very sad, upper management can never get it right with their decisions and get the job done!
I have been following the Leafs and cheering them on since 1985. If this team doesn't look drastically different next season, not sure i can do it. Starting to feel like a crazy person following this group. They should have made changes after Montreal series. Your right though Sid, they probably won't make changes because of the cash they are making off those names!!

The problem with sticking Marner in the press box is he’ll actually help you win in the regular season, just not playoffs. That shift in game #2 where he didn’t wanna go into the corner with McAvoy says it all, and I’m not even gonna bother with his tantrum on the bench when Nylander called him out. As a team… - 1/21 on the PP in this series - 6 straight game #7 losses (7 incl CBJ in 2020) - 5 most recent game #7 loses they didn’t score more than 1 goal (2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019) - 13 of their last 14 playoff games they only scored 2 goals or less
I'm a Rangers fan since '79 and I can say with certainty that while the Rangers have had a successful season (thus far) and I'm cautiously optimistic, the reality is that Glen Sather has been here in one capacity or another for nearly 25 years and with everything he has available to him pre and post Cap has exactly one Finals appearance in that time. He had a world-class goalie and couldn't do anything with him. When Sather hasn't had the shoulders of Messier or Gretzky to ride, he's been a sub-par executive who was more suited to running a lemonade stand than an NHL franchise. Yet, he keeps rolling. Shanahan is in my 'Top 3' favorites ever. I was at his debut in the Meadowlands way back in the day. But ten years with no results is unacceptable. It insults those who have to produce results for a living.
100% agree and i wasnt even bothered that much by the loss. I dont think you strip tavares of his captaincy, why make his last year awkward as hell? The media would explode. Regardless of the captaincy everyone knows who the face of the franchise is.
It’s the Ballard curse. The Leafs will not win until 100 years have passed after Ballard’s death! That means 2090 is the earliest since Ballard died on April 11, 1990
@@dovidrotenberg4690 oh yeah. The evidence is all there. Mediocre to good regular seasons followed by disappointing and infuriating playoffs. All the hallmarks of a curse!
Sid is usually spot on and for the most part I agree with almost everything he says. However, I do think that Reilly especially was injured this series. He played really bad but he was also probably our best player last year against Tampa. I also think there are changes coming. I’m not sure if the changes will be to our core four (for this upcoming season at least, due to Marner and Tavares NMC) but I do think that keefe, shanahan and guy Boucher will be gone. Tre will be the only one safe.
If Keefe is still the coach next year I'd be amazed. He literally separated himself from the team during the postgame presser when he said other teams engineer ways to make *the Leafs* lose. He didn't say *us,* and he did it twice. Some might say that means nothing, but it actually does. It's almost a tacit admission that he does not feel he coached them in a manner that was unsuccessful, which may be true to a point, but when you have the results the Leafs have had in the past decade, many will disagree with that sentiment. As for the other things: I've grown tired of the "Shana-plan" now and it's time to move on from him. Treliving can stick around, but he'd better made a blockbuster trade in the offseason. One point about Woll: it's unclear when exactly the injury occurred that kept him out of game 7, but it's suspected to be on the attempted final save of the game. Now I know players have big heads and want to get the shutout registered, but there was a bigger picture to be seen here, and making a literal last second save at the end of a game that was already won made *ZERO* difference to the outcome. Had that been a 2-1 lead with the possibility of tying the game, it would be understandable. To some extent Woll himself has to take some blame in that injury taking place, but unfortunately like Murray and others before him, he appears too injury prone and I agree they need to finally shore up that one position especially. Meh. We'll see what happens. Go Canucks?!?
Cowboys have won 5 super bowls since the Toronto won. Check out how many Cowboy teams since 67' have multiple playoff wins...you want to compare TO to someone I think the Cubs are more in their league lol.
The leafs don’t have to do well. They already make enough money from fans. It’s expected for the leafs not to make it to the second round. No one is shocked
Demar and Kyle's team also made an ECF, at least. But what Masai did was gutsy and I don't see the Leafs replicating what would be equal to trading DeMar, Poetl and a 1st for a superstar, then trading a young big in JV for a veteran in Gasol. Also firing the coach of the year--I'll be happy if we can pack Marner and Sammy, at least
True. Raptors went a lot further than the Leafs. Nonetheless Shanahan doesn’t seem like he has the balls to make bold moves that may be unfavourable to fans.
I like your prediction that NO changes will happen. That’s bold. 👍 Yet that’s what normally happens. Won’t change until people start throwing their jerseys on the ice. That year brought on the Shananplan.
Since Matthews became a Leaf this team has always been a GOOD team. Sid is right, they need to be a GREAT team. Shanahan, Keefe, Marner Tavares ALL have to go.
Watching Toronto fans act shocked and upset when the Leafs get knocked out in the first round year after year despite having zero reason to think it would be any different this year is one of my favorite traditions.
For so many years - The Leaf's are a Business, and the bottom line is to make money - Something they always make a lot of regardless of how far they go into the playoffs. As long as their top executive produce stable $$$ results, a Stanley cup push will come 2nd.
I’m was just a casual Hockey fan, until a few years ago when I attended a Predators game on a Saturday night in Nashville. After that I was hooked! So I remembered the days of Flyers, Habs and Islanders dominance being from the Northeast. Recently I started looking into Maple Leafs history and organization and believe there’s no reason why they haven’t been a gold standard in Hockey. Just like the Packers, Cowboys and Steelers. Especially given how valuable they are. They deserve best ownership, front office, coaching and players. To think they haven’t been to the finals since the 1960’s is bananas🏒🍁

Playing head games with guys is not toughening anyone up its just being a mind gaming prick. If you think Babcock isn't an ass then you are just a dumb. Modano needed 1 more game to play game 1500 in his career and Babs scratched him for what? The last 10 games or so of the season? Thats ridiculous, Modano played the game the right way and was a vet that didnt deserve that treatment. Babcock opening night 2019 scratched Spezza after he just signed with the Leafs and Spezza had his whole family there, and Babcock scratched him last minute. Spezza played the next game. So why do it? He was also a vet that played too long and was too good of a player to deserve that treatment, he deserved respect. Thats what men do that are actually tough, they give and earn respect to those that deserve it. There are also plenty more examples of these stunts that Babcock pulled as well over his career you just need to research them. I love tough coachs like Berube, Torts or even Gallant but what Babcock did is not toughening guys up, thats not sending a message, thats not doing anything other than just being a prick to be a prick and play head games with people, thats what weak men do, they play head games, not tough guys. You can be a hard nosed tough coach without the head games and tricks that Babcock used for YEARS over his career.

Totally agree. Watch not only Reilly on the Pasta goal but also have a look at Marner watch Pasternak skate right by. Matthews was good when healthy and Nylander good once he got a game under his belt.
Don't know why Matthews is untouchable when the team plays better without him.
Yup, in the last 4 games against Boston the Leafs lost two games with him, and won two without him
Excellent job Sid …best comments I’ve seen so far …
Sid….AMEN !!!! To all you just said it’s the truth & maybe hard to take but u took the words right out of my mouth good for you to have balls to say what others are too scared to say !!!!
Sid is 1000% correct! I was a Leaf fan from 1970 till they screwed up a 3-1 series lead to Montreal. At that point i threw away any Leaf memorabilia i had and said enough is enough, they aren’t worth my valuable time or money, haven’t watched a minute of any Leaf game since, and I suggest you all do the same, your life will be very much improved
Why would they make changes? The Leafs are one of the most successful NHL franchises financially despite being a gong show on the ice for decades.
There comes a point when you just can’t play it safe and the Raptors reference was bang on! They took a chance and look what happened !! 🏆🤷🏻♂️
MLSE, owned by the telecomms giants, want to win. They haven't been happy for a while now.
@jarsenaultj the leafs can miss the playoffs every year and still be successful financially. However, imagine how much more money they'd make with a cup win.
@@steve8803 yeah, but that's assuming a Cup victory was guaranteed. Which it's not.
You nailed it never mind sid
It's all money fixed now
Sid is 100% correct
“You don’t have a goalie you can trust.“ That claim from Sid Seixeiro comes just over 2:30 into the video clip. Of Canada’s NHL teams I see this season:
- neither the Flames nor Habs getting to see playoff action even with, between those teams, following games that ended before Eastern Time Sunday daylight saving time in the time zone for this year had ended, the Alberta one in a playoff spot even if only a wildcard one and only then by a single point via a 6-4-1-0 win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss record after 11 regular-season games (RSGs)
- the Flames, Oilers, Jets and Sens all having already had two or more goalies with at least two wins of RSGs
- the Leafs and Habs each having had one goalie with wins of two or more RSGs and at least one other with at least one win of an RSG
- the Canucks having had a goalie with wins of multiple RSGs (Kevin Lankinen, having, in a game that ended early Sunday Eastern Daylight Time, helped the Canucks squeak by the Sharks 3-2 in regulation via having stopped 21 of 23 shots) but one (Arturs Šilovs) who, by contrast has, over his last three games in which he has played, all them starts, during which he has been a sieve via having allowed multiple ugly goals in each of those games
Sid for TML GM! I’m no Maple Leafs fan but man he NAILED IT!!! Bravo 👏🏻!
Leafs fans ( the corporate ones) will fill the seats next year as they always do. Nothing will happen until they see empty seats.
Not sure what is worse. The leafs or canadian politics.
Trudeau still takes the cake but not by much!
Conservatives are getting in, stop crying already.
@@gdavho8778 freeland is worse. But yeah, I agree. Media in Canada is a close 3rd worst . Haha
Leafs.
Poilievre is definitely worse. Capable of doing much more damage than the Leafs ever do.
Literally the only time i have ever agreed with Sid! LOL
Cool to see him get so worked up when he knows the Leafs are basically screwed because of the money they’re giving to 4 forwards and their NMC’s !!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
coz yer a liberal dork
I waited all weekend to hear Sid's thoughts 😁
Does anyone see the irony with Shanahan?
He refuses to make a change coming from a team (The Wings) that to win made drastic changes, one being getting him.
The Wings traded Paul Coffey and Keith Primeau to get Shanny. Traded a 50-goal scorer in Ray Sheppard and traded away Dino Cicarelli. Why does he not see he needs to make some moves?
Agree 100% about what changes should be made and agree 99% that nothing will be done. There'll probably some small token change just to say they did something.
Sheldon Keefe is gone. If he doesn't announce his resignation later today, the Thursday media talk will take care of him. Just like with Dubas, he wasn't fired immediately.
@@ScubaSteveCanada Dubas was NOT fired though , Shanahan and Dubas came to an agreement on a extension then Dubas did that PRESSER , Shanahan wanted Dubas to sign the extension and Dubas said he did not like the contract he wanted more power where he could go over Shanahans head and speak to the owners himself and he wanted more money , Shanahan said ok I am not giving u a new contract we will get someone else . That is NOT being fired that was finishing up his term and not being asked back , Dubas made a power play and it blew up in his face .
im so glad to see Sid gone from the major sports networks. He can enjoy his time on Breakfast TV until he retires for all we care. he was beyond insufferable during his time on sportsnet. I know I'm not alone in feeling very happy to see him being relegated lol
I don't agree with Sid on many things but he definitely said everything that I was thinking needs to happen to this team. Thank you for saying what the majority of Leafs fans are thinking and want to say.
You're never gonna win a 7-game series if you only score 12 goals, and go 1-for-21 on the power play 🤷♀
Huge part of that is Marner, holds on to the puck too long and starts prancing around like a ballerina
Florida scored how many against Swayman? ONE
The non-comparable with the Demar-Kawhi analogy is there isnt a Kawhi available for trade. If there is, then by all means go for it
well said sid love your takes i agree so much
Ya, Sid is right about most of the problems.
Former fan from 1968 to 2018 here…50 years of futility….and I finally gave up. Once you do you won’t look back! It’s very cathartic and to a point almost amusing now! But overall very freeing! Let’s Go Oilers!
@@midnightrambler7716 I hear ya, but I'm not giving up!! My dad would come back from the grave and kick my butt.🤣 Good luck to your Oilers!!
Sid,old.old old.6 team guy from Chicago,you are on the loonie,keep talking!King Clancy,Johnny Bower,Red Kelly,Davey Keon,Turk Broda,Big Chief Jim Nielsen,Bobby Bauan,Bill Bariilko,and tons more is why I am. Arenas,Saint Pats Fan,I like the Blackhawks too!
❤, sid spitten truth like always!!!
and they are all back to run it back lol
I would also add Domi to that list with Matthews and Nylander. Other than that Sid nailed it
The problem with sticking Marner in the press box is he’ll actually help you win in the regular season, just not playoffs. That shift in game #2 where he didn’t wanna go into the corner with McAvoy says it all, and I’m not even gonna bother with his tantrum on the bench when Nylander called him out.
As a team…
- 1/21 on the PP in this series
- 6 straight game #7 losses (7 incl CBJ in 2020)
- 5 most recent game #7 loses they didn’t score more than 1 goal (2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019)
- 13 of their last 14 playoff games they only scored 2 goals or less
I agree, there wont be any serious changes .
Man did Sid hit the nail on the head. Almost a decade full of losing in the first round is just unacceptable
Good teams make the playoffs
Great teams win in the playoffs
Bertuzzi's contract with the Leafs is over now. Odds are Boston re-signs him adding insult to injury.
would you stay
Not A Sid fan but he is 100 % right
he has a booger whistle, listen again..
.
The biggest mistake they made was letting Lou go and passing it to Dubas. You can’t win with 4 Ferraris. And 19 mini vans .
Good takes honestly. Putting everyone on the chopping block will let everyone coming here to manage, coach, or play that we are serious about winning.
Once again, thank you Sid for saying what needed to be said and saying what a lot of fans of this team are feeling and thinking.
Well said Sid. Matthews & Nylander are save. Like what you said about Marner.
It's time to roll the dice and pull a Kawhi! Shake things up!
Harold Ballard is still alive, his head is kept in an underground headquarters in one of those Futurama jars.
You mean longer than the Cubs, 108 years, seven games and 11 innings!!!!???!!??
@@dovidrotenberg4690 oh yeah. The evidence is all there. Mediocre to good regular seasons followed by disappointing and infuriating playoffs. All the hallmarks of a curse!
@@quique2886 I thought Hallmark produced "Greeting cards" not "damnations"!?!?!?
Sid should be the new President and shake things up , maybe we would win some series at that point
Sid needs to go back to Sportsnet!!! He’s 100% right. Sid should be Leafs president actually!!!
Loved Sid when he was with Tim and Sid! I have hated him with BT, but i actually love what he said here! He was bang on!!
Leafs needs to fire Brendan Shanahan and Sheldon Keefe!!!!!!
*Basically the Leafs need to rebuild I told you that without you having to click this video*
I like your attitude Sid. Matthews gets the C. Tavares and Marner to Pittsburgh with Dubus.
"If you rolled a video in a meeting-gone." Hilarious.
I’m thinking the Bills would be the right analogy
What needs to happen in Toronto is that they get an expansion franchise.
The leafs don’t have to do well. They already make enough money from fans. It’s expected for the leafs not to make it to the second round. No one is shocked
I rarely agree with you, Sid. But, you're 100% correct. Clean house and it starts at the top.
Fans have to stop buying tickets. That’s the only way to get managements attention.
I'd love to be on the show just to "steal" one of those really cool coffee mugs!!!!
I like your prediction that NO changes will happen. That’s bold. 👍 Yet that’s what normally happens. Won’t change until people start throwing their jerseys on the ice. That year brought on the Shananplan.
LOVE the look he gives the camera when he brings up Marner's entourage, great! And he's 100% right btw. Ditch Mitch and John and you might get better.
Yay for Sid 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So does the rest of Canada, sick and tired of absurdly late tv time slots as though only the Leafs matter.
L. O. L.
I was waiting to see what mr know it all was going to say
hey. the man is RIGHT
Wondering why Keefe isn't gone already? Imlach was fired right after they lost to Boston in 1969 and he actually coached them to 4 cups.
Love watching you.❤❤
Love Merith Shaw's line of dresses. Love you all, and very interesting topics. 😘 😘
Since Matthews became a Leaf this team has always been a GOOD team. Sid is right, they need to be a GREAT team. Shanahan, Keefe, Marner Tavares ALL have to go.
Love this guy, love it!!!!
Watching Toronto fans act shocked and upset when the Leafs get knocked out in the first round year after year despite having zero reason to think it would be any different this year is one of my favorite traditions.
First time I’ve agreed with this guy!!
For so many years - The Leaf's are a Business, and the bottom line is to make money - Something they always make a lot of regardless of how far they go into the playoffs. As long as their top executive produce stable $$$ results, a Stanley cup push will come 2nd.
Has anyone seen Billy? the superfan? Someone check the garage please...
Bravo......u hit the nail on the head !!;;!
Honestly the leafs are a mess the salary cap needs to be at least 125 ,000,000 if you are going to hand out 4 contracts over ten million.
Everything he said is truth!!!!! 🙏
History told us the Leafs were far more likely to lose than to win.
These old eyes were not surprised because my expectations were low.
At least people figured out that Mitch Marner is a playoff liability, a few years too late, but better late than never. Break up the core-four starting with #16, please.
Who is willing to take marners contract. Most teams won’t have as many stars to help him look good. And JT is old and exapensive
@@Chyeahokay just dump them both no matter the cost
@@ChyeahokayYou’re huffing glue if you don’t think a team out there wouldn’t want Marner.
@@Chyeahokay Maybe it's time for Marner to grow up and realize he isn't THE guy. For his own sake and any team he plays for. He needs to learn take a large paycut because he can't perform like a 12M+ player or handle the pressure that comes with it.
Sid knows what he’s talking about
Scoring has been tough in the playoff and Keefe sits Robertson in game 7! He forgets Robertson has the highest scoring rate only behind Matthews.
Tbh i think taxes should be excluded from the salary. Meaning only net salary should be taken into account. itsa hard in canada versus florida.
nailed it!!!!! BRAVO!!
Remember when Babs was trying to toughen up Marner? Leafs nation went crazy and canceled him. And now that same nation wants Marner traded because he is too soft for playoff hockey. Hilarious!
Leaf fans are to blame
Toughen up and completely embarrassing someone while throwing them under the bus are two entirely different things bud
@@chrisshiherlis95 disagree. Having stones and leadership sometimes requires you to call others out, even if it embarrasses them. You wanted Marner to be coddled, this is what you get. Looks good on you.
@steve8803 You're telling me with Babcock we would be drinking milk and honey? You act like you know something but probably don't even wear the pants, bud gtfoh
Sid putting on his serious voice. Jabronie
