I will definitely be posting more acting exercises in the future but I also want to make sure people understand that my TH-cam videos are not a substitute for acting classes. Every actor must get real training where they are getting feedback from the instructors.

The one exception I would say to not doing shows, is that several actors on Doctor Who have played minor roles and come back to play companions and even Doctors. So maybe Doctor Who is okay - they seem to rehire people they like when they can.

Honestly watching your videos have brought back something I thought was gone or that I got rid of because of ridicule and people always laughing or not taking me serious, which is my love for acting and my dream to become a great one. Thank you so much Kurt for helping me finding my first love again. I feel more determined and ambitious than ever. Although I am currently in college for something different, that isn't going to stop me from pursuing what I love. Atlanta is actually one of the cities I wanted to move to besides the obvious. Kurt Yue I couldn't agree more. I was always stubborn when it came to acting, no matter how many talked me down I stuck to the idea for 20 years. My career recently started after being a story model, then a voice actress, now I have a project coming up with Film Equus to be a stunt rider for a movie. I learn from your channel everyday thank you so much and I hope to work with you some day so I can thank you in person

I’m a teenager and I have been acting for a long time now and I have doing so much research. I used to go theatre classes and I have done a few plays. I have even sang on a tv show before. I am hoping to become big one day. I have such a big passion in the arts!

Just like Brazil, man. I really liked the way you explained these job opportunities. Another common job for actors here is to work with events (party entertainers, for example), or corporate fairs. I work a lot as a host for companies and live events. I really like your work! Great video 🙌🏼

PCOM, just outside of ATL, has a standardized patient program and the guy that oversees it is an actor.
*I love these videos! Im a teen and im still trying to figure out how to become and actor. All I know is that I need a Headshot, Resume, and a Agent. Just confusing but Ill keep myself motivated. Also what agencys in Atlanta GA are good well atleast for Teens or beginners, since you do live in GA* .
Carlos Nunez same i’m a teen and beginner and i’m trying to do all the research i can. also for you make sure you take acting classes, even if it takes a while i really think you should attend a class. It’ll also give you things to list for training on your resume.
You need acting classes before any of those things. Always always always be training and taking classes. It is the MOST important thing you can do for your career beyond a headshot, resume, agent, or anything else.

Really depends where you live. Every market has different casting directors that specifically do background casting. I recommend you ask some actors you know in your city to get the best information about that.

Actors don't get paid from residual sales in Nigeria...sometimes actors don't even get paid

So I take it that you've done Standardized Patient work? I've been doing it for many many years and I've found it rewarding seeing students transform from terrified 1st years into confident, highly trained 3rd and 4th years who are on the cusp of becoming doctors. Who knows? I may have helped train a few who've worked on the COVID - 19 vaccine....

Harrison Ford was the stand in for Han Solo originally and then Lucas liked him more for the role then the first guy. Careers can be made as a stand in.

I used to stand on the sets of several major flicks filmed in St. Augustine. Some lighting guy told me you don't want to be in movies; all you do is stand around all day.

I have a question so this is just an example:, so I want to act for the Show cobrai kai but I don't have experience for acting but can do karate I have a black belt and can really do good acting in terms of karate because I have experience in fighting would I still get a role if I request?
If you have zero acting training you could potentially be a stunt performer on the show. But even then, you will need to have some stunt training and be connected with the stunt community in some way. Also, actors do not request auditions for major shows like Cobra Kai. how does residual income work for streaming services? Does each device that plays that particular episode that the actor is featured in help the actor get more money?
For streaming, as far as I understand, residuals are a fixed amount rather than per play.

Yes that is very common.

For people that are starting their acting career, do you recommend having another job on the side for financial reasons?
100%. Even for people well into their acting careers, multiple sources of income is always a good idea. Acting is unpredictable and money isn't going to be consistent. You could have a great year financially followed by a terrible one.
Sir, you are right, we should understand that some of your videos are not subsitutes for acting classes, maybe that's why you upload videos on kinda like, back-end of the things, like audition, soft skills and jobs and knowlege on set and production and these all.
But still please, once in a while, bring out some video related to the acting part.
None of my videos are substitutes for acting classes. Acting classes need to be interactive. The teacher needs to be able to watch you perform and give you feedback to help you improve. My videos are for educational purposes, but they are not interactive like a class should be.

Do you know anything about how new actors can get summer jobs on movie sets to see what it’s like? I’m currently in college, and want to either spend next summer in an acting workshop or on a set if I can find one to work on. Any ideas?
You could work as a production assistant or even an extra. You don't need any experience or training to be a background actor.
Whether or not those opportunities are available really depends on where you live. If the city or state you live in is a big production market (like Atlanta, which has hundreds of movies and shows filming every year), then you shouldn't have a problem finding those types of opprotunities. But if you live in a place without much film production, then you will have to travel if you want to get a job like that.

I plan on spending the summer there and wanted to do some type of work there over the summer. I will likely move there in a few years to hopefully further my acting career. You are not union until you join the union. You become eligible to join the union once you've worked on a union project for the first time. As I mentioned in the video, most major movies and television shows are union projects in the US.
can you get any good roles if you live in a place thats not as popular as the big places like Atlanta?
Most cities have opportunities for actors, they are just different. When I lived in Cleveland, Ohio, I had plenty of opportunities to audition for commercials and corporate videos and such. However, I didn't start consistently getting auditions for movies and television shows until I moved to Atlanta.

When you book a film by yourself and you have a agent do I still pay my agent commission even though I submitted myself and booked the role
depends what the agency contract says. But even if the contract says you don't have to do it, there are benefits to doing it anyway. I want my agent to look at all my paperwork for a booking to make sure everything is legitimate. It's worth it to me to pay my agency commission to have them do that.

Question: can you balance acting and a 8-4 job
You should be able to balance it in the beginning, but as your career progresses, it will become more difficult. You'll have to be willing to turn down some acting gigs because you can't continue to miss days of work. I definitely had to do that before.
If you aren't part of SAG just yet and you do a SAG commercial, would you still get the residuals for that commercial?
I've been acting for a while now and have an agent. If you book a SAG commercial, you have a speaking role, and you're not an extra, you should definitely get residuals.
okay so you told me that there is lots of acting agencies in new orleans ...and i’ve been doing some research and i found lots of them close to me here in nola .. but it’s not much help , like i call and email them and all they tell me is go to the web page , so i go to their website and it’s the same thing that i’ve been seeing that’s how i got the number ... so i don’t know what else to do .
The agency websites should have a page that tells you how they want new actors to submit. For example, the LTA agency website has this page that asks you to send a professional headshot, resume, and cover letter to their email address. www.lta-actors.com/submission-criteria.html

The same reason there are some people who never graduated high school and went on to be extremely successful in the business world. Does that mean everyone should drop out of high school? No. It just means that some people are exceptions to the rule. Acting is no different. Sure there are examples of people that became successful without acting classes, but they make up less than 1% of actors. The other 99% did take classes in some way shape or form. Do acting classes guarantee success? No. Does not taking classes guarantee failure? Also no. But acting classes add to the PROBABILITY of success in this industry. In such a competitive profession, actors should take advantage of every opportunity to increase their chances.

Thank you so much for these video's. Only main issue I'm having in my acting journey, is my financial situation. I've landed only tow speaking rolls while subscribed to the Allcasting website. Made $100 from one project and $50 from another. I've done background work but none were paid. Now I'm subscribed to Actors Access and have yet to land a roll. It seems being a SAG member is the only way to land decent paying jobs. Is this true, or can you advise otherwise? Thank you!
Absolutely not. I am a union member now but I did plenty of non union work before I joined SAG-AFTRA. There are many factors at play here.
1. There are thousands of actors submitting to every role on Actors Access so you better have a headshot, resume, and demo reel that stands out from the crowd to even get an audition.
2. If you have solid training and some experience under your belt, have you pursued an agent? Agents hold the keys to the vast majority of the high paying jobs.
3. Understand that only a very small percentage of actors are making a living with their acting income. The vast majority will have a second or third income on the side to supplement their acting earnings. That is just the reality of this industry for most people.
@@ActingCareerCenter Thank you for the detailed reply. I have yet to pursue acquiring an agent due to the pros and cons I keep hearing of doing so. MY Actors Access account has my slateshot on a photo, but the projects I've been a part of are still editing footage. I have excellent self tape auditions but not sure if they should be used as a demo reel for the mean time.
@@keenan544 I would not recommend using self tapes for your demo reel.
I don't know what cons you've heard about getting an agent. There is a point in every actor's career where an agent is an absolute necessity to move forward.
How does the new SAG/AFTRA contract affect residuals?
I believe it increases the amount earned for streaming shows but I don't know the exact details.
I have another question say I really want to be in the show cobrai kai but when I looked for roles its only 18 years and had different feature's they looking for i have no acting experience I only acted in school for school marks can I request a role or that's it I can't be in the show?
If you have no experience, get into an acting class and start training!
So I Turn 15 in one month and I am from Germany but I want to start a career in America I have no experience... I got inspired by stranger things and my goal isn’t only to became a famous person I want to be stole Model and inspire people like I got inspired. But my big question is what can I do I can’t move to America jet so should I take acting classes and English classes to improve bevor I got to America and try to build my career there?
not sure if your country doed acting u can fo it thier but maybe you could apply for some good size roles and get them to sponsor your flight to the us
