How is my cancer journey going? A Personal and Channel Update (+ my hair is growing!!!)

- My Sewing Friends! It's so good to be able to post a new video for you with an update on EVERYTHING that has been going on this year which, as you know, hasn't been an easy one for me.
As well as an update on my breast cancer journey I've included some more info on what's going on behind the scenes, with the channel and what I hope to be doing next year.
Now that we've entered the final month of 2023 (can you believe it!) I want to thank each and every one of you for all the love and support I've received over this difficult time, I have truly been overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness and look forward to making new TH-cam videos again when the time is right for me.

My daughter's hair was at this stage and while she was shopping a woman stopped her, complimented her, and asked where she got her hair cut! It may not be the look you choose, but you look great!
It's March 2024 now and I'm hoping all your treatments are finished and you're feeling much better. You are totally amazing and we're all in awe and proud of you! The new you is every bit as wonderful as the other Evelyn but now you know how strong you really are. We'll all be here when you're ready to come back, whenever that may be! 🎉❤
My mother had two rounds of chemo and then radiation and then full surgery for her breast cancer. 26 years ago. It took a year for all the treatment, but she is still here 26 years later. Hope for as long or longer for you too.

As a long time follower, I can tell you that you have not lost that specific Evelyn sparkle that we all love. Cancer takes a lot but it cannot take that.

Oh Evelyn, you are fab. Triple neg is a tough BC to battle. You are taking it all in your stride. I have stage IV metastatic BC in my bones. Im now 47. Its not a curable cancer so on treatment for however long my life is. I started seriously sewing a year ago & started following you. You are a fab teacher & a joy to follow. The very best of luck with your ongoing journey. Take each day as it comes xx

I've never seen anyone look as good without hair as Eveyln does. I think it is because she has a perfectly shaped head, and it really shows off her beautiful long neck and porcelain skin. The new-growth pixie style is cute, but if she ever wanted to go with the bald look, she can definitely rock it!

I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer a year ago. I was given Keytruda, an immune therapy drug. I was stage 3b and now I’ve had what they refer to as a “complete response”. It really has been a miracle. I have a friend, however, who couldn’t tolerate it so it’s not for everyone, but it might just be info to ‘keep in your back pocket’ as we say.

I am a 19 year breast cancer survivor. Lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation. My neuropathy did resolve. I am also a 14 year thyroid cancer survivor. I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I believe a good attitude makes all the difference! It was so nice seeing you again! ~Nancy

I can't believe I missed your initial video talking about your diagnosis. I just wanted to let you know you're loved and appreciated. I live in Venezuela, and you have no idea how much your videos have helped me, not only to make a living for myself in a country where it's so hard to get by, but sewing also got me out of a depressive slump after a bad breakup. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely wish you a happy and healthy life, and a speedy recovery. There's no doubt in my mind you'll get through this.

I am a 23 year b/c Survivor of stage 2. I took the power in my hands and shaved off my hair. Polish your nails bright red to cover the black and blue color of your nail beds. And document everything. Depression is normal. Radiation can burn your surrounding skin. Love and Hugs Evelyn ❤ You are beautiful.
We completely get it unfortunately. In 2016 our son got cancer (osteoscacoma) and passed away in 2019. Then, less than a year later my husband was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma and bone cancer. Right now, he is 3 years cancer free. It's amazing what you can get used to. You can make it! You are strong!

Thank you Evelyn for sharing your story which resonated with me. I was also diagnosed in Feb 2023 and have a very similar treatment experience. I was also heartbroken to learn that I would need 10 additional rounds of IV chemo after my surgery results showed an incomplete response to the initial chemo. I never cried so many tears and like you am now trying to adjust to what life looks like going forward. I don't think anyone truly understands unless they have experienced cancer and all it entails. I hope you are able to tolerate the new chemo (I find it much easier, but not easy) and wish you all the very best.

My heart goes out to you. My best friend in the world was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast-to-bone cancer 7 years ago. Her life expectancy was 5 years. I have traveled this journey with her and although I can't even imagine her personal turmoil, I just want to be here for her and her family. She is such a fighter, as you appear to be, so I wish you the best results. Your attitude is amazing and this is such an important part of your healing. Please look into a plant-based diet from here on as the research is amazing for cancer care. (and so many other diseases)

Wow, I just got my first sewing machine, found this channel and subscribed. I'm a senior man. Immediately coming to this, your most recent video breaks my heart. I watched a couple of specific videos before seeing this one. You"re an absolutely lovely woman Evelyn and make a huge difference in this world, for the better as well as touching many lives. I wish you all the best and truly hope you are improving and recuperating. You are a beautiful soul and I think it is safe to say that anyone who encounters you or your videos is in your corner and is holding you in their thoughts, prayers wishes and sending you their love. I found your YT channel about 18 months ago. I have quite severe physical disabilities that I struggle to come to terms with (I still want my "old self" back, and that ain't gonna happen!) so I'm constantly looking for something that will fill my days and help redefine me/give me a purpose. I bought a sewing machine with hand controls and found you very pleasant and easy to learn from - although I'm still not up to making anything yet! What I unexpectedly learned, from you and from your commenters and supporters, wasn't just about sewing techniques. It's that the world is full of beautiful and kind people who maybe just need an opportunity to show how beautiful and kind they are. Sending you so many good wishes for your next chemo. I'm sorry you have to have more just when you are feeling well. Your smile and your positivity are so infectious. I had a Breast Cancer diagnosis 7 years ago. My treatment was relatively simple and straightforward so I can't even begin to say that I know what you have been through but emotionally I suspect I can feel a lot of empathy. Yes, the staff are just so amazing, aren't they? I'm in UK.

I was diagnosed in 2015 triple positive. I was 38. Im so glad i found your channel. Im about to embark on a sewing journey. I learned to sew basics in high school. The past month I've been saving up for a sewing machine and watching every video to learn as much as possible. Ive bought my first pattern and have been studying it like crazy. Ive already learned so much from watching just a few of your videos. I hope you keep your spirits high. Even on the hard days. May God bless you with great health.

So glad you seem to be handling the treatment well! My mom - sort of a hypochondriac, using illness/pain to manipulate others - went through a lumpectomy and node removal and radiation last year. She still complains of pain to this day, while all the doctors on her case say that none of their other patients have had problems like her. The burn from radiation did not come immediately, it slowly developed after, as it was the deeper tissues that were most damaged. Sunburn treatment - an aloe vera gel with lidocaine - gave her the greatest relief. Hopefully, you won't have an issue, but if you do, get sunburn medications. So great to see you again!

So glad to see you. Best wishes for your continuing journey. I supported my mum for many years through several cancer journeys. Your comments regarding the doctors and nurses who care for cancer patients are so accurate. Even after she finished treatment, if a nurse saw her in the shopping centre, mum would find herself enveloped in a huge hug. ❤️

My prayers are going out to you. My daughter is going through breast cancer too. She had a lumpectomy n they took her both lymph nodes. But just remember that God made you n He knows how to heal you. Jesus took the 39 stripes on His back to our hEALINGS. GOD WILL BRING YOU THROUGH THIS . God is in control . Keep thanking God everyday for your healing. It’s on the way. I went through your journey in 2000. I had stage 3 lobular carcinoma, underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction (my breasts weren’t important enough for me to risk it since my sister had passed from BC), and 13 rounds of chemo (AC and Taxotere). Chemo isn’t great, but it’s doable, I always said. A happy attitude and loving support is the greatest medicine! I will keep you in my prayers and we’ll all be here when you get to feeling better. Your pixie is adorable! Sometimes I just click on your videos and let them run in the background for views even if I’m working and can’t actually watch. Hugs Evelyn!
Your videos helped me sew my wedding dress last year, contributing to one of the most special days of my life, and that is such a tiny fragment of your impact. It is wonderful to see you smiling again and I really hope this round of chemo will be more gentle on you than the first. Also, the short hair is really cool on you❤❤

I just found your videos while trying to understand how to sew darts. I'm not a great sewer, but your tips helped and my shirt turned out decent! I tailored a hand-me-down dress shirt. I didn't make it from scratch,, but I felt very proud. It pained me to hear your news, yet I'm inspired by your positive demeanor in the face of such challenging news. You truly radiate strength, beauty, and grace. Hearing about the support that you received from so many people also restored my faith in humanity. It reminded me that the world is filled with good people. This came at a time when I needed that reminder and inspired me to handle my current challenges with the same type of hope, conviction and grace. (And darn if it isn't hard sometimes!😊)

One thing I used to tell myself when I was feeling sorry for myself was “this is better than the alternative” & now 7 years after I finished my treatment I’m living my life to the full, making the most of my extra time here on earth & relishing every minute. I am anxiously awaiting another update. We haven't heard from Evelyn since February. I hope things are progressing as expected and she is on her way back to us!
