You said it, Sky! Moie than anyone from that era and probably this one, too, can run that gamut. She could do screwball, murder, western, melodrama - all heart and soul and beauty and brain. not a one can compare to her range, never a false step. while someone like Davis, as an example, was great in All About Eve, Dark Victory, The Letter etc, half the timer she was over the top - and although great, not the range, not the depth as Stanwyck in anything, even the many lousy films she did, she still didn''t strike a false chord.
Stanwyck was truly a gift to Hollywood. The people who cast her were brilliant. They let a star shine through. Barbra was so wonderful & she was also beloved by thousands of fans!!!
Barbara started out as chorus girl. She became an actress almost by accident. She filled in for someone that was sick. They changed the script in the show somewhat to see if it would play better. It did and it was sort of a hit. It was her part or narrative that was changed and it made the show much better.
Awesome story. Reminds of hall of fame quarterbacks Tom Brady and Kurt Warner who got their starts when someone got injured. Probably many such stories
I originally saw a lil of this on TCM. I couldn't finish it so I came to TH-cam and hoped to find it. I did!! What a great flick. Good Lord Barbara Stanwyck was thin in this. When she gives her speech on the Theatre steps ya see nothing but ribs!!
Hey😎 , it was excellent to find the clear explaination of ghettoing when another is in moderate pose. He gives her that exhausting runaround when she is to have a beer with him. That thing is called, "Play too much" and it is the act of not liking how to be in cognitive. Stanwyck depicts working in that level of debase very well. Know it and don't become it was clear. Bravo.
Loved her tenacity!!! Hell of a woman back then, so much class. What happened to today's actresses, performers & artists?🤔😣all trying to out due the other with less on & trash mouths!!!
Hey 😎, I noticed a lot of "don't let this happen to you in ghetto." I would like the black Americans to media the same about their ghetto. They were so honest about why you will read "White" on the burlesque sign. It isn't the Klan. It's the underworld and mobsters. Keep the Post' and wow.
She started out as a chorus girl in the Ziegfeld Follies in the early 20s. She also worked as a dance teacher at one point. So, yes, she knew a thing or two about dancing. 😊
@@beatrizmaria.378 You are talking about two different thinks! Knowing about dancing and be able to dance. Watch her dance again .She is a very good actress that can't dance. Maybe she learn later .....
Pawel I've watched this movie more than once and I beg to disagree. I think she was a fine dancer, she certainly wasn't the best but I wouldn't say she couldn't dance. We do agree on one thing, though. She really was a good actress.
This woman can do no wrong...sassy and subtle., who else has ever done that? Fun movie. Thanks for posting!

Barbara Stanwyck was a seriously beautiful woman & an excellent actress. I've never seen anything in which she starred I haven't liked very much.
Love the dialogue at 31:29 direct and to the point

Mike oshea started working for the LA Police department
Who ever that singer was at the beginning has one of the worst voices I’ve ever heard as bad as Desi Arnaz
Great movie- but . Did Barbara Stanwyck ever learn to dance?
She didn't. Watch The thorne birds. She couldn't dance. But I still admire her.

@@beatrizmaria.378 Yup- She made it when acting was required to be a star .
