    Malakai Black came to AEW with purpose, attacking Arn Anderson and starting something with Cody! He explains how his shocking release from WWE turned into a quick deal with AEW, what it was like hiding out before his debut on AEW DYNAMITE, and how the creative freedom and collaborative locker room have inspired him. Malakai also recounts the origins of his Malakai Black gimmick from his early days as Tommy End to the evolution of Aleister Black and how he used the occult and horror movies to inform his character and matches. He speaks to what he learned from both Shawn Michaels and Terry Taylor, and shares the story behind the Dark Father vignettes at WWE, and how that might have been his undoing. Plus, his favorite match, and the talent he’s most looking forward to working with at AEW.

    • @ArcaneAzmadi
      @ArcaneAzmadi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Vince has always hated Paul Heyman, because he's always subconsciously known that Heyman is a better booker than him. ECW was so beloved because it was booked so well- but it only died because Heyman, while a great booker, was a terrible businessman. Vince is not a good booker, but he was a great (and ruthless) businessman, and back in the day he was able to delegate to good bookers. Heyman has always been better at knowing what the fans want and either giving it to them or working them to keep them engaged until he does, and Vince has always resented that, which is why he always tries to keep Heyman close so he couldn't go anywhere else and work against him again (and also as an advocate for guys like Brock Lesnar), while simultaneously shutting him out and keeping him from having any influence on the show (they used to say that if you wanted Vince to ignore an idea, the best way to do so was to get Heyman to present it to him). It's pure green-eyed envy.

    I feel like this is proof that that system no longer works, because it sounds like clearly Malakai has ideas, he had a vision for his character, he offered those alternatives, and they fell on deaf ears.
    He sounds very intelligent, I am interested in seeing what he does going forward. I'd like to see more from him in the ring, see what he can do outside of a squash match, but so far his movement is very crisp, and the few moves he did do looked strong.

    One of the things that I've always found odd about this podcast but I wouldn't change it for the world is the way Jericho goes into ad reads. This episode is a perfect example. There's this one part where malakai is talking about learning from veterans and when malakai is done making his point and stops talking Jericho starts talking, sounding totally different by the way which just makes it obvious that this was recorded later and edited in, and Jericho says "and I want to talk about about what you learned from Shawn Micheals but before we do malakai I just want to say that if your the type of person who likes working on your own car..." and he just goes into an ad read. And it's like obviously he didn't actually say that right? Like obviously he didn't interrupt this interview because right at that moment he felt like he just HAD to tell malakai black about a fucking online car parts store. Obviously it was recorded later and edited in. Which is fine but I just find it funny how everytime he tries to make it seem like a natural part of the conversation.

    I like AB martial art skills and the match between him & Murphy was the most entertaining match that night. Vince has messed up the careers of NXT stars and I don't believe Vince understands how much the fans like these wrestlers & thier characters.

      So basically. The mini feud in 2019 was to be like “remember these two because in 5 years time these are going to be Wrestlemania main eventers against each other so you are seeing the future of the WWE”. Heyman did this with the Smackdown 6 back in 2002 telling Cole and Taz to call them future Hall Of Famers to go “Wow. And I’m seeing the beginning stages of them getting to that point.”

    Vince McMahon was the problem. Once he was sent home and Triple H and Stephanie took over the company and creative, we saw a lot of people return to WWE and the product got way better. The board of directors did bring Vince McMahon back and they compared his booking to Triple H's at Wrestlemania. Triple H's booking of Wrestlemania Saturday was way better than what Vince booked on Saturday night. That's when they put Triple H in complete control of creative and talent relations and Vince McMahon has no say in those. I find it awful funny that Stephanie stepped down from her post and resigned from the company when Vince McMahon returned.

    Man if they get (Bray Wyatt) Windham Rotunda (I think that's his name correct me if I'm wrong?) they are set/stacked. Maybe Braun but I'm cool without him. Get Bray and Ric + Charlotte Flair then chill out for a minute with all the signings lol. Female wrestlers are an exception they need more depth in the women's division, but I would quit throwing all this money for a lil while after those 2; I really hope that happens I'm becoming an AEW fan by the day (I used to not dig it but everyone starts somewhere) they're making wrestling watchable again! Mark Henry was a waste of $ though lol IMO unless he gonna wrestle which he should

    I think Vince's plan is drowning the market with too many talent. I mean looking at it he kind of succeeded. Look at FTR, Shawn Spears, Matt Hardy, Pac, Matt Cardona. They were supposed to be huge and never made it. Now when it was Miro, Malakai and Andrade's time to shine but again getting drowned out by CM Punk and Daniel Bryan's debut. It's like a rush from that spoilt brat Tony having period mood swings with dad's money
