It’s my favorite all time video game franchises. For me in order it goes. Soul reaver 2. Then defiance. Then legacy of kain blood omen 2. Then soul reaver. I never played legacy of kain blood omen. Since it was only on pc.
It's also on other platforms in addition to playstation. I hope and pray that this series will get a genuine revival and continuation. I agree with you. We would have to replace voice actors which would be sad but unavoidable. We just need developers and producers that truly respect the series.
The original game had stiff cut scenes given its limitations at the time where the sequel had much more improved, fluid, and expressive cutscenes. I wonder if they will also improve the first game's cutscenes to bring them in line with the second game.
I bought it right away, because I too was blown away by the original one. Still, I fear possible uglification as seen in the trailer with the female statue in the shrine.
From an art direction, from software would be the best option visually. From a difficulty standpoint, it would be too hard for me to play, and I would be upset. The same upset I was about FFVII Rebirth implementing mandatory super difficult mini games that everything good and half the story was locked behind. 😢
Not too sure why you would even compare Blood Omen to Diablo, they are totally different styles of game. If anything Blood Omen is much more of a Zelda type game (the 2D ones of course). Really looking forward to the remasters and I hope they are successful enough to get remakes (or at least remasters) of the whole LoK series and then ideally a sequel!
please don't let FromSoftware touch LoK. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I love a good story. If FS remakes or makes any LoK games, they will likely be unplayable by scrubs like me lol. SR2 is actually my favorite game in the series, I think it has the best script/ dialogue of any game I've ever played (that is my subjective opinion). I believe Aspyr did do the TR remasters. That's kind of what they do, remasters and ports.
blood omen was a diablo clone? lmao what, it came out before diablo, i am disgusted by that statement. Fromsoft should never ever lay hands on this franchise. We don't want LoK turning into another shitty souls like.
I think there might be a new game in the works aka soul reaver 3, and they might've decided to do a quick easy remaster to get new younger gamers interested.
i started with blood omen i love kain am not a fan of raziel but i do like the world of soulreaver 1 and 2 and kains role in it and raziels brethren,i pre-0rdered the remasters and i do like forward to playing them and hopefully it leads to a blood omen remaster and maybe a story ending after defiance. i only been waiting for years for this,if they can turn blood omen into a 3d game oke but i dont mind if they just remaster the game polish it upto todays graphics but keep the same style. you dont realy need voice actors redone if you keep the story the same you dont have to change dialog but for a story ending and a game after defiance i would pick voice actors that can mimic known charcs and have them do the dialog.
You doing alright there, buddy? By the way, vampire stories and lore didn't start with Bram Stoker. So, if we're using that card, then his book is very wrong.
Hopefully modders can bring the saturation back to the dark gothic feel. The World of Warcraft look simply needs to die already, I beleive game devs are using Substance Painter or something so that might be why everything looks samey.
Fromsoft would not pick up this ip. First off from has never done that and I can't see why they would want to. From softs style is the opposite of Lok in that they use environmental attributes to covey their story, Lok was one of the first really indepth stories outside jrpg's.
Also being a 40yr old that was their, soul reaver was a graphical beast coming at the tail end of PS1 life cycle. It was one of the first fully polygonal games that streamed in data without loading screens. Blood omen was all 2d tile work so it has aged better but back then soul reaver was a looker .
Saying Blood Omen is a "Diablo Clone" is such an insult. Even if it did come out after Diablo, it plays almost nothing like it besides the fact that it's a top-down view game. As an avid fan of both the LoK series and all Souls games since their inception, it's a strange coincidence that we've both come to the same conclusion that Miyazaki needs to be in charge of a Blood Omen remake. Honestly, I would prefer FromSoft to make an LoK game with Vorador as the protagonist. Imagine Miyazaki creating the sanguine bathed, ignus fatuus glowing Vorador's mansion.. Seeing how perfectly executed they made Volcano Manor, I would imagine Vorador's Mansion would be Miyazaki's crown jewel.
Massive Legacy of Kain fan here, and I would have absolutely zero interest in a remake of LoK by From. Don't like Elden Ring or any of the Souls/Borne type games. If they did only the visuals, maybe, but not the gameplay. Legacy of Kain is about storytelling, not do or die precision combat.
Wont work, a sequel to defiance would work. Make kain kill himself at the pillars prior raziel s punishment and thus his wraith soul would join his vampiric self and enlighten himself. Raziel must fly to the top of the pillars to enter exile and find janos in there to fight the elder there... While kain and brothers deep into nosgoth to defeat eg there...
Meeh, i'm not sold on some of your points Sr1 was easily one of the best looking full 3d games on a ps1, only vagrant story looked better in terms of non cartoony games Blood omen has aged poorly in terms of graphics, it was even mentioned by some of the reviewers back then that they were somewhat disappointed by the look of the game for using sprites Bo1 was basically a 2d Zelda formula in darker clothes so I don't really see it as a diablo clone or even that much different from Sr games
How is it a clone of Diablo? Blood Omen came out on November 1 1996. Diablo was released on December 31 1996. If anything, Diablo is a clone of Blood Omen. Silicone Knights (the creators of Blood Omen) had done a few PC games with the same game mechanics before.
No way brother. I have to disagree. Remake the series from the ground up except for the audio acting. Re-use the audio and music, and build the game from the ground up, focusing on quality modeling, ray tracing and light/shadows, graphics
They dont seem to have given us an expanded repitoir of attacks.. they should've just remade the games tbh, instead of just giving us a hd remaster.. thats not what i wanted, this is the low hanging fruit safe to pluck from the ground.. emphasis on safe.. im very disappointed... this is a sad day for gaming..😢 they could've given us an assassins creed/souls kinda game, but they are deadset on confining us to the ground.. they dropped the ball so hard here...
i will not be buying this game, im so sad.. if they had just gone hard on remaking soul reaver 1, properly, then i would've preordered without thinking. i would've done it right now. but this is sad...
this is my absolute favorite franchise, but i really wished for a remake. remastering this doesnt do it justice, it has so much more potential and there's no point in splitting the games into 3 either anymore.. its easily done in a single game, they did that due to limitations on the discs and preassure to finish. this is 100% a cashgrab, i hate to say it - but i will call a spade a spade.
If "they" don't have money or assurance at successful release it won't happen at all. It's getting remastered BECAUSE it is necessary to test how popular it will be to do anything more.
@@HellGod67 you really believe they would remaster the game to "test the waters"?.. ._. the community has been pretty verbal about wanting a new game for a long time, so i dont think thats an excuse.
Not sure what planet you live on where BO1's top down pixelated sprites looked better than SR1. I could understand if you said you just preferred that style but it didn't look better in any way.
Whos pretending this doesnt have much of a fan base? Point me in their direction lol. Its not just a great game its a great story. I only got to experience soul reaver on ps1 didnt get to play blood omen or soul reaver 2. So im very excited to be able to play this again. Personally i will never support remakes. I think its very much of a case of if its not broken dont fix it. I understand wanting new graphics etc but the voice actors really made this series what it is. If the voices were completely different it just wouldnt have the same charm to it and the story could even fall flat if new voice actors dont deliver the lines the way theyre meant to be. Like i think they ruined the RE series with the remakes
This game is not any of those publishers. It is not dark and knights type tale. It is a gothic vampiric tale. Completely different moods. I think they did the remaster very well. No one really wants a remake. It be bloated and no original voices. We got a great upgrade to our childhood. And I enjoy the love. Soul Reaver is way darker than Diablo.. you don't have online friends. You are alone in a dark place and filled with betrayers who lie and manipulate, and the main character doesn't know who is who yet. The soul reaver story kills diablos. Sorry but its true.
A remake would risk the whole franchise being ruined and destroyed by the insane DEI bollocks that gets forced into modern games and remakes. No effing way.
Remastering games at an age where remaking them is financially "doable" is a blatant cash grab. I owned all the originals and they were great.. for their time.
@@BrokedownWorkhorse C'mon now...they have more than enough funds to do their market research IF they haven't done it already. How much money does the remaster need to bring in , in order for a remake to become "not a risk" ? The whole production costs? It's never going to happen.. Slapping HD textures and (perhaps?) a few polygons more on the player model does nothing to mitigate a remake being a "risk" , since every investment is a financial risk by default. All it does is provide a chance for them to charge full prices for the absolute minimal effort/cost.
@@Thanos1908the remaster is a good thing for the series. It's going to generate interest which can lead to remasters of the other titles and eventually a new entry in the series. Another big benefit is that this will be compatible for modern systems. It's nice to have games that just work and not having to go through various workarounds to get them running. I agree a complete remake would've been super exciting but I'm still excited for this.
Not to ruin your day but this remaster is brighter than the original and not as dark. They even took out more original content to add in the deleted content. They turned some statues into butch-looking guy-girl with a thicker body and the one statue that bows, they removed the female-looking parts from it and completely gutted the original game. I'm staying away from this remaster.

I really doubt these games would get remade though. The series never really sold all that well.
I was thinking CD project Red would be a better pick.
It’s my favorite all time video game franchises. For me in order it goes. Soul reaver 2. Then defiance. Then legacy of kain blood omen 2. Then soul reaver. I never played legacy of kain blood omen. Since it was only on pc.
I preordered my game 😂
This might be the first game I ever preorder
Hey, I can think of worse ideas for sure. 😆
NO, NO remake! A continuation, on the other hand, is welcomed. I am curious about the remaster. I wish they would have started with Blood Omen.
I bought it right away, because I too was blown away by the original one. Still, I fear possible uglification as seen in the trailer with the female statue in the shrine.
Richard Hammond could voice Raziel today...... Check The Grand Tour series..... He could totally do it!!!
From an art direction, from software would be the best option visually. From a difficulty standpoint, it would be too hard for me to play, and I would be upset. The same upset I was about FFVII Rebirth implementing mandatory super difficult mini games that everything good and half the story was locked behind. 😢
I am one of the people who have been wanting this for years
Different voice actors wouldn’t be a problem for me to be honest I’m sure whoever takes them roles will do a good job anyway
And I understand what your saying but I’ve pre ordered it anyway
I preordered in hopes they get the message we’ve been waiting for the rest of them
That's exactly the same reason I did the same
Not too sure why you would even compare Blood Omen to Diablo, they are totally different styles of game.
Keep up the good work with your channel mate - good to see LoK getting discussed
Imagine a Dark Souls Legacy of Kain game 😩😭
I don't know, I feel like they should have added more polygons to the environments...
blood omen was a diablo clone? lmao what, it came out before diablo, i am disgusted by that statement. Fromsoft should never ever lay hands on this franchise. We don't want LoK turning into another shitty souls like.
Love these games and series so much.
I think there might be a new game in the works aka soul reaver 3, and they might've decided to do a quick easy remaster to get new younger gamers interested.
Defiance is Soul Reaver 3.
Modern controls and an in-game map!
Preordained my copy immediately after trailer dark gods duty to thin the herd
i started with blood omen i love kain am not a fan of raziel but i do like the world of soulreaver 1 and 2 and kains role in it and raziels brethren,i pre-0rdered the remasters and i do like forward to playing them and hopefully it leads to a blood omen remaster and maybe a story ending after defiance.
i only been waiting for years for this,if they can turn blood omen into a 3d game oke but i dont mind if they just remaster the game polish it upto todays graphics but keep the same style.
you dont realy need voice actors redone if you keep the story the same you dont have to change dialog but for a story ending and a game after defiance i would pick voice actors that can mimic known charcs and have them do the dialog.
No-one is a higher authority than Bram Stoker about vampires, he said they can't cross running water...DEAL WITH IT.
You doing alright there, buddy? By the way, vampire stories and lore didn't start with Bram Stoker. So, if we're using that card, then his book is very wrong.
I can't wait for it🎉❤
The voice could be done with A.I
They could also do what MGS Delta did and use the original voices and just update the visuals.
Hopefully modders can bring the saturation back to the dark gothic feel. The World of Warcraft look simply needs to die already, I beleive game devs are using Substance Painter or something so that might be why everything looks samey.
100%. Hire the fromsoftware types for the sequel or remake
They have the story and the dialog. Just re-do it it would be free money
I don't want a remastered good looking Soul Reaver. I want a complete Soul Reaver 1 before the cuts.
@@raziel29a I can't confirm this but someone claimed earlier the cut content is in the remaster.
lmao .. i pre-ordered ... what a thirst trap. hopefully is as good.
Kain still owes raziel another toss of the coin.
Greatest narratives of all time!😂😂😂😂 are u serious!😂😂😂
Massive Legacy of Kain fan here, and I would have absolutely zero interest in a remake of LoK by From. Don't like Elden Ring or any of the Souls/Borne type games. If they did only the visuals, maybe, but not the gameplay. Legacy of Kain is about storytelling, not do or die precision combat.
It's nothing like Diablo. Diablo was a full ARPG with online capabilities this is 3rd person Action Adventure.
FromSoft would only be good for a Berserk game. I don’t want them to touch LoK.
Meeh, i'm not sold on some of your points
Sr1 was easily one of the best looking full 3d games on a ps1, only vagrant story looked better in terms of non cartoony games
Blood omen has aged poorly in terms of graphics, it was even mentioned by some of the reviewers back then that they were somewhat disappointed by the look of the game for using sprites
Bo1 was basically a 2d Zelda formula in darker clothes so I don't really see it as a diablo clone or even that much different from Sr games
I meant detail and art style. Not fidelity.
@@BrokedownWorkhorse
Not sure what details you mean either. Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but I don't play it for the visuals.
dese is not a cash grab most of these games dont worck right on pc or amulated these is a game prezarvation of an amazing seres
Blood Omen and Soul Reaver need the Santa Monica treatment. Gives a god of war style game
Seen here 2:46
Remastering games at an age where remaking them is financially "doable" is a blatant cash grab.
I owned all the originals and they were great.. for their time.
I think they did a remaster to see interest in the series. A remake would be a financial risk at this point.
Legacy of Kain was a Zelda clone not a Diablo clone.
Is a lazy remastred like tomb rider !!!!
I wished for a remake for so damn long and they'll only release something that looks like a community patch....
This is a big deal people don’t understand 🔥🔥🔥🔥🫡
