This is exactly how I used to do Cuttings. Then I came across a Video by a channel called Sausagefingers gardening tips and it about Dahlia leaf cuttings. It works beautifully and you can getting so many more cuttings. I Honestly think it will help you get so many more beautiful Dahlias 😁
Some varieties of tubers take more than a month to sprout. I have some that actually don't sprout for two months. At 21 days I have 119 of my 300+ tubers sprouting and expect another hundred by the end of the fourth week with the rest sprouting later then that.
OMG those ARE cute! Loved this idea. Well.. if I could ever get mine to live thru storage...yeah. I still have a love/hate relationship with them. Then they are gorgeous plants... and the blooms won't open fully. The farmer from Coseytown dahlias said to check for thrips. I'm sorry to say I've really downsized because of this issue. Can't wait to see your beauties!!!
Hi from the UK. What a brilliant video that was. I always struggle with dahlia cuttings as I’m never sure exactly where to cut but I’m pretty confident now to give it another go. Thanks for sharing.
I have yet to see anyone do this outside (tuber poking up for cuttings). It's the start of spring here, and no frost danger, but I don't know if I put the pots in the shade, under shade-cloth or full sun.
I would only suggest more moisture. They look too dry in the video. You’ll get lots more growth. Mine are 5-6” and I’ve been able to take cuttings already. Too bad we can’t post pictures on here. Love your content Flower Friend!
Before you put the tubers on the heat mat did you moist the potting soil first or have to keep the soil moist? I just wondered if they started drying out because of being on a heat mat for weeks?
This looks like so much fun! I am new to flower farming and growing dahlias for the first time. This might be a silly question but do you get tubers from this process that you can't plant year after year? BTW your videos are by far my favorite!!
Is just me or dahlias are kind addictive?. Ones you have some you want more and more 😉 I started with 16. Now I have 62. All from( swan Island dahlias ). And 25 New coming for 2023. From different places Eden brothers, Brecks, floret etc
How often do you water the tubers while they are growing the cuttings? I just started some last week and think I'm going to try that root riot when it's time for me to take cuttings so thanks for sharing 💚🌱
It’s possible your tubers rotted that didn’t sprout. That was a lot of water for initial planting of your tubers. Cuttings are happening here soon too! They’re waking up now 😊
Burpee potting soil is like gold to me!

I’ll have to check that out!
Thanks Christina. Looking forward to the updates.❄️💚🙃
I am sick in bed today and your “Aren’t they just the cutest?” Made me laugh! I am going to try this! Great teaching video!
Hahaha!

Wow! That’s awesome!
@@SunshineFlora It always amazes me how long some tubers take so show life signs.
I really enjoy the progress video thank you!

Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful
Hi It's been so nice all week?
I have yet to see anyone do this outside (tuber poking up for cuttings). It's the start of spring here, and no frost danger, but I don't know if I put the pots in the shade, under shade-cloth or full sun.
Just found you. Exceptional videos. I learned a lot
Awesome, thank you!
Great video! I think I need to get those root riots. I think that will help me get them to work better.
So far I like mine!

Im going to give this a go, assuming my Dahlias are OK in storage.
Good luck!
Hi, I am trying this! When will you tell us how they are doing?
I showed an update in my most recent seedling tour, but they are doing GREAT!
I will share with my sister who is at the sprouting stage. She hesitates to actually cut it off 😏
Before you put the tubers on the heat mat did you moist the potting soil first or have to keep the soil moist? I just wondered if they started drying out because of being on a heat mat for weeks?
I watered them a little - but I didn't want the tubers to get soggy if that makes sense
How long did you keep the heat mat on under the tubers. Thanks so much. This was informative.
Til I saw them starting to sprout. Then turned it off
That's interesting I thought that would encourage rotting. Maybe put a cookie rack in between the mat and the pots?

Thank you! And yes these plants will make tubers!
Isn’t it fun to multiply those dahlias, specifically those pricy ones. My understanding is that light does them no good until they sprout.
I just automatically put everything I start under lights right away. That way they have it as soon as they need it!
How long did you leave the dome on?
til I saw most of the tray germinate, then took it off

Totally addictive!

Once they sprout I bottom water them every few days so they don’t dry out
Will you get flowers off the cuttings this year? ❄️💚🙃
Yes
I should anyway!
About how much money do you make in a year selling flowers?
I think it varies with each flower farmer with where they sell and how they sell. I will say that I grew almost 4x last year compared to my first year
It’s possible your tubers rotted that didn’t sprout. That was a lot of water for initial planting of your tubers. Cuttings are happening here soon too! They’re waking up now 😊
Maybe but the ones that didn’t sprout I think are just some for especially the one that was really dry.
I don't have the patience for all that tedious stuff
Thanks Christina! I think I can actually do this, now that I’ve seen how you did yours. @floeurish 😉
You can do it!
