This was the year that Star showed up on the DCI map of top corps. This show was brilliant on so many different levels. Star was only 6 years old at the time and it was my first year in drum corps. Phantom finished 6th, Cavaliers 2nd, the Cadets of Bergen County 1st, Santa Clara Vanguard 5th and Star moved past Blue Devils for 3rd place in finals. I was in the Midwest. This was the last year Skyriders finished in the top 12 and they were in the Midwest out of Kansas. We actually performed at a show with Star in Illinois and the drum major actually sat right next to me!!!! I was in awe of Star then and was their biggest fan. Unfortunately they were only in competition 3 more years and in that last year I was to perform with them, but after a couple of camps I decided to drop out due to financial constraints. It was perhaps the biggest mistake of my life, but I had bigger fish to fry.
Great reaction! As far as the time limit goes you have to remember that they have to get through at least 11 other corps in 1 night. That’s almost 3 hours of content with the time limit. It’s more for the audience than DCI.

Today’s show from Star of Indiana was a little more difficult to find the concept because I realized that I did not tell you what the show was called or the music that they played. It happened to be one in the same today as the show was called “Belshazzar’s Feast” which is the name of the beautiful musical composition. I have been told that it is the story of a Pagan King who is eventually struck down by his people hints the celebratory ending 👍 As I told you, Star of Indiana burst onto the scene in 1984 and placed 3rd with the show you reacted to today and then won the World Championship in 1991. Needless to say they moved up quickly with their amazing brass strong percussion and high General Effect. On Saturday, you are reacting to Star of Indiana 1993 “Music of Bartok and Barber” This show did not really need a concept because what the team from Star put on the field was so new, so innovative, brass players doing movement, music that is hard to play in a concert hall let alone on a football field at a rapid pace. The music from Samuel Barber that is played is “Medea’s Dance of Vengeance” which depicts Medea of Greek Mythology who married and had Jason of the Argonauts children only to kill the children when he cheated on her. You can feel all of it in the music so don’t necessarily look for a concept today but rather just pay attention to the artistry and difficulty of the entire show. They were undefeated until the finals when they were passed by Sundays reaction The Cadets performing “In the Spring when Kings go off to War”👍

Also I want to thank you for the 2015 file you sent to me. I am not sure if you saw or not but Paul did reactions to Crown and Blue Devils 2015 but they are on Odysee rather than TH-cam because I could not tell him if your files would cause any copyright issues because they are such phenomenal quality….I will get Cadets 2011 in and let me know about your vid’s meaning are you cool sharing them for a reactor to react👍

@Austin Thorup unless things have changed since I marched in the 90’s, it is actually 15-21 or 7 seasons as there are many Cavaliers that have 7 gears 👍
