I totally agree with you sir. Nobody is talking about the toxic workculture we have adopted where achieving targets and deadlines at the cost of your mental peace and family is appreciated, you are considered hardworking if you are ready to destroy your real life for your work-life.
Main issue is "Holistic success missing". That comprises Professional, Social and Spiritual. All are equally (33%) important to achieve 100% success. If one area is more than 33%, other areas will suffer.
Agree to all your points. Realized it years ago and left corporate job 10 years ago. Now, managing my own small enterprise. Won't say that I am doing great financially, but I have peace now. What I've understood is that if you sacrifice a few flashy things that are not essential, you'll be happy. What is the point of buying a 2Crore home, if I am not able to stay at that home and enjoy that home? Spending 14-15Hrs at the workplace and then coming to home only for daily ablution has no meaning. Bigger home you buy, lesser time you spend at home because to match EMI, you need to work more and need to spend more time at your workplace.
You said it perfectly, we spoil the work culture. My friends and my collegues routinely do overtime for free and accuse me of being lazy. Trust me, when you face death, you will know how meaningless your work is.

NRI here, abroad, especially in US I feel there is added visa pressure plus people are enamored by outward things so they push hard. I do find however that Indians are not as efficient, miss the big picture and don't innovate much. A lot of them are primarily concerned woth what will make them look good. Of course there are exceptions
Amit Ji if you read my comments here is my genuine feedback. Where you said NRI too work late. What I have noticed specially In IT if someone is working on Work permit (Temporary Visa ) they work late where late working is glorified and create a dirty work culture because they want to show their manager they are most hardworking and if any visa extension or any other opportunities comes then they should be considered. Second category is those who are Permanent Resident (Green card) or citizen, those type of people will not prefer such working culture because they don’t need anyone’s favour to get any visa related extension. In my 7+ year i got Indian boss and non Indian boss but i was lucky to get good people. But trust me if there is No visa related pressure on Work permit guys then they will also not work late😊. managers also know that ki inka juice kaise nikalna hai by showing 🥕

Firstly, We should know office colleagues are not friends. Just finish your work at work place and enjoy with your family members only. After office hour forget office till next day. This is my funda and I am enjoying my service life last 38 years
I am management consultant working with a Netherlands based company in India where I am building their global research centre. I always ask my team not to stay after 7 pm in the office. Especially freshers needs to understand that the company will not get ruin neither will grow exponentially if you are spending time after office hours in the office.

You can't avoid human nature whether in Pvt or govt. I will still suggest you for Pvt where you excellence will be rewarded at the very least. I have seen people who have grown from 4.5L to 12 L within 2 year service in Pvt and govt employee salary have increased from 5L to 6L in the same period. As time passes your money will matter a lot and what's the point of working in govt sector if you will be under same level of toxic work environment as Pvt at least get more salary out of it.
I m 38 & working as Associate Director at a big MNC. While i m earning well, yahaan culture aisa bana diya hai ki mujhe chutti lete hue darr lagta hai & most importantly guilty feel hota hai 😢

It also comes to intellect. Some time ago I had worked with a client which had a chill 9-4 lifestyle...nobody gave a damn abt anything...but when u work with them, u will hold ur head. The PPL are intellectually below par. .take 2 days to do something that can b done on 2 hrs & even after explaining them multiple times...they continue to make the same mistakes. Such stupidity literally pisses me off. The mindfuck it came with, took the entire joy of 9-4 away. So while it is easy to say tht get ur priorities right, it is a function of a lot of things...a Google engineer cannot wake up one fine day & switch to TCS just for work life balance reasons (just an analogy).
