Alex, you really put out a good show on that stage The 1980s were Flyte Tyme magic, thanks to Jimmy and Terry But I know Janet had "Nasty" , you had "Fake" both J&L classics indeed.
Just discovered Alexander O Neal today from some live stream of a chick with giant eyebrows LOL I was born the year after this so i missed out but better late than never - terrific music! 🥂
Gamble and huff was one of their greatest inspirations. And that's what l love about entertainment the inspiration. I got a chance to meet Alexander o'neal in CA. A very great legend. And very unique voice. I salute him.
Wow 1987, I was only 10years old, never saw this clip before. Of course back in those days there was no access to all these tv channels like nowadays. But what a great performance. Arsenio Hall's jacket is also back in style. 🤣 I just love the 80's sound ! Alex looks and sounds Wow. Of course. This man's voice is just one in a million. I could even recognize it if I was far on another planet. God bless you Alexander O' Neal. 💯🕺👍💝💃🌃
Alexander O'Neal is one of the absolutely best male singers. i hope people really recognize his influence on the genre someday soon. Thank you for posting this.
Seen you in Edinburgh in concert you came down of stage and my partner pushed me forward and u kissed my hand and sang to me will never forget it, luv u Mr O Neal xxxx
Wow! 🤩🤩🤩 I absolutely loved this documentary!!! Certainly learned a lot about Minneapolis. 👍 Really fantastic, looking at the scenerie, the cars of that period, the clothes and overal style , i just love it! 🤩👍🎉💐👋👋👋 Those rockbands? Never ever heard of them😂! The fact they were rehearsing next to the R&B bands and the reporter talking about the wall wich was down , somehow made me think about the Aerosmith video with Run DMC 'Walk This Way' ! Where Steven crashes the wall with the mic Lol! 🤣🤣🤣😂 Loved watching the excursion on Flyte Time Records 🤩👍 especially the Grammy fallin apart! 🤣🤣🤣 No, just kidding, that was some great footage! 🤩😍👋💐✌️Alex, thank you so much for sharing this documentary with us, it was fantastic. And those stonewashed jeans, those are actually back in style! 😊🤩👍🎉 I loved watching these interviews with you and the footage of the diner and the playroom.🤩😍💯💞💕💖👍👍🤩 Whatta ya know, back then you already wanted shoestores! 😂👋👍💞💯 Now I 'm REALLLLLY CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR FUTURE SHOE-BRAND!!!😅😂🤩 Can't wait.🤩👋👍💕 GOD BLESS YOU ALEX! 🙏🍀🙏❤️🙏 and thanks again for this hiddem gem. 🤩👍💯💞🌟✌️

Mr. O'neal 🌷 🌸 🦋 🐛 there is not a day I do not listen to your music. I grew up jamming on your music 🎶 intro by my parents and uncles. You are so sophisticated and classy. Thanks for your truth...you are original to the core my Mississippi guy!
OMG! Told a co-worker that my uncle used to be the drummer for Alexander O'Neal and decided to randomly search TH-cam for his appearance on Arsenio Hall. Crazy memories!
@@officialalexanderoneal Yes, Ricky is my uncle. I remember watching this performance on Arsenio when I was a kid. I think he was also on Johnny Carson if I'm not mistaken.

Before the RIFF RAFF came to Minneapolis you would see everyone in a downtown club called FELTY'S. Prince would pop in and jam with the house band. Paul Peterson would play a new song from one of his many projects. The Steele's would destroy the stage with their gospel style ensemble. Jellybean would sit in on guitar. Actor T. K. Carter would pop in with Jerome and get on stage and do some crazy sh*t. Jeff Lorber would pop in and plays keys. Great time for the Minneapolis music scene.
Prince chose him for a very good reason, he always recognised great talents like him, Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam. Alexander was one of the greatest voices in r&b of all time
I used to play the Hearsay album front to back no skipping .
Big Facts. Nothing to skip. On Any of his albums.
@@DAYSOMUSIC First two albums
I love Alexander O'Neal's music. The 1985 to 1991 period of his career is like heaven on earth to me. This video was AO in his prime.

Yep. Jam, Lewis, LaFace and Teddy Riley productions all over the radio in the late 80s and early 90s! 👍
I've listened to the Hearsay (1987) album so many times over the years and its nice to hear some songs from that album being sung/played live.

Sunshine was it that was straight beautiful. But fake was fun.
I'm partial to "do you wanna like i do", another amazing vocal performance, as always.
If Jerome could sing😂
If Alex never smoked or dig drugs, his voice would have been even better. The drugs ruined him.
