After listening to this for the 50th time I feel like we didn't even get to see the best of him vocally on his albums.
Noone could sing it like Luther but Alexander O'Neal did the damn thing on this one he killed it
I heard him sing raw and uncut 1971 ! He would sing in the showers after football practice . He played linebacker at ALCORN STATE. The upperclassmen didn’t mess with him because he could sing and was a good linebacker.... he made the right choice by quitting!

I have never, ever heard Alexander O'Neal do a remake. It seems strange. He sounds great, but it also makes me glad that he linked up with Jimmy and Terry. They gave him an opportunity to showcase his range. His catalog of songs are funky, flirty, sophisticated and soulful. Thank GOD there's only one Alexander O'Neal.
He has done other great cover versions of songs. Unfortunately , you have to search hard to find them. Great if his unknown songs were put out there for the world to enjoy.

He was one of the few in his time period that was smooth and sultry, but at the flick of a switch, had massive volume and presence behind the voice. Still one of the best voices out there and performance presentations!

The most underrated vocalist ever. I would argue the best vocalist in that last 40 years. I stumbled across AO music that I haven't heard in years, and was telling a friend how great his music was back in the day with all those hits.

You are spot on. His first and second albums are ridiculously good. You can press play and walk away. Alexander O'Neal is definitely in my top 10 of male vocalists. Very original voice.

It was his first. Mr. O'Neal and Ms. Cherrall wrote a lot of those R&B hits 80s 90s and maybe the late 70s too, I don't fully remember. Check them out. I know you're not in the know woke stage of life if you don't know them.
OMG that was a magnificent performance that I missed at the time, and one that I'm sure Luther would have loved too. Alexander has a tone that is unmistakeable and his power incredible.
