Brilliant - Lazy Lester was headlining the Colne Blues Fesival in 2004. I met him in the main hall and asked if it was ok to take his photo. He was very agreeable, especially when I told him I had a recording with him playing with "Smoky Babe" recorded around 1964.Then he noticed my Hohner harmonica bandolero round my waist and said "Dont go falling in no water!!!" One of those unforgettable moments. Magic.
Lazy Lester showed up at the Monday night potluck on the bayou couple months ago and I loaned him my mic when he blew harp. When he played guitar I had the joy of blowing harp behind him. We fed him well and when he left he was feeling no pain.
Lester.. hitting on ALL cylinders.. God bless you man.... Saw you in Pontiac at Kings, you rocked there too.( even though I had to leave early and the crowd was waning quite thin. ) God bless you and the blues done right.
i recommend saginaw mich. writers new book by FRED REIF called 'tell em 'bout the blues.features interviews with lazy lester lightnin'slim and many other blues artists with roots to the saginaw area.
His idol was JIMMY REED. Slim Harpo was heavyly influenced by Reed, too. It's good to see Lester in that great shape. I made an animated film to honor Jimmy Reed. If you like to see it - just click on my name. Ratings&Comments will always be welcome.
@taurtue -Too funny... He's not playing jazz and he's not trying to be the next blues traveler..He's playing with feeling, that doesn't come from being clever. Also, I've heard his other music he can mix it up if he wants to.
Looks like .45 cal holes in the wall, but that cannot be... Post war, Post Revolution Brave New World France after all. :>) Good Post, enjoy Blues. Neighbor plays guitar blues, while I sip a Mexican Modelo... on other side of our yard wall.
yes this is the other side to the harmonica...you can take all your Little Walter wannabees and ship them off to a desert island...but please leave Lazy behind because i want to feel what he's feeling and be in swamp blues heaven....
@fendermon lol honestly this is not such a great harmonica player. I play like him and i still got ALOT of work to be done before i can play really good. he doesnt even do any overblow
