    • @laowhy86
      @laowhy86 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      No. There is no 10 year work visa for China. Even the 10 year travel visa for China requires you to leave every few months or so. It's not that big of a deal. Also, you can't work on a travel visa.

      I don't even watch TV anymore, not even the news. It's all BS. It's the people at the top pushing some agenda by trying to steer public opinion in a direction that benefits some special interest group. It's manipulation. I'd rather watch videos like this. It's much more genuine and real.

    Sure, I'll support you with a small monthly kicker. It's well worth it for all I've learned about China from you. You've answered a lot of questions I've had in the back of my mind for several years. Of course I have a hundred more.
    I'm confident that I speak for most everyone who watches your videos when I say that we all want you to be a huge success because in return, we feel a part of it. We succeed when you succeed. Very few of us will ever see the "real" China, so we can live it vicariously through you.

Emmigrated to the USA with $2000 and a "maybe" job offer which took a year to become reality. I've made many wonderful business trips to China. HK, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Tianjin, Beijing and many sights in between. I'm waiting for my visa, and hopefully I can be with my Tianjin soulmate in only a few more weeks. Thanks for your work. I can’t stop watching and I am really happy you. I am a firm believer in working hard to build your life and finding your place in the world.
    After failing my GCSE Exams and A-Levels I thought my life was over, I blamed other people who caused me mental problems but I realised that it didn’t matter that they caused my problems... it mattered that I was using that as an excuse and i needed to fix those problems.
    I reset my English and Maths GCSE and worked on my A-Levels. For the last 3 years, I worked hard every day. I found my passion in VFX. I went from failed student to top of my class. I’m now heading to university and Im now much happier. I have a future and hope because I worked hard.
    Work hard, find your opportunities, don’t make excuses and you can go very far.

    I really needed to hear what you and Winston said. I have had so many failures in life and I feel like a roller coaster. I to had a corvette (2009 new) and now I have a POS old honda after bankruptcy. My brother who lives with me now went through the same exact thing making great money to nothing and depression has kicked in big time over the years. I havnt given up but as I am sure you know it is hard when it feels like life is just walking all over you and you have no say in the matter. I feel worthless. Im not cured by you speech at the end but I am inspired and very apprciated for it. I am alot more open about my feelings then my brother and even though he didnt want to hear what you had to say I played it very loud on my PC speakers. I love all of your videos but this one hit home and brought a few tears to my eyes and I thank you. Stay Awesome!

      Churchill said what worked for himself. Is it good life advice to try and be like someone else, to live someone else's life?
      Let's also not forget that Churchill was maybe not a good role model considering all his dark sides. I wouldn't put him up as an icon for a better future. We need to have higher standards or nothing will ever change.

      🙄... 🤔...
      It is still necessary to have the will, the strength and the capacity ... To challenge oneself to individual and collective, To face his fears and fears in a collective way but to assume them individually ... The trauma / suffering, the culture, of one not being that of the other ... Love is a garden that keeps up with the weather ... weather ... and seasons ... And it is the words and deeds of both that gives value to the fruits at harvest ... And that make you think it's worth it or worth it ...
      (money does not make happiness but there is contibue ... it's an ingredient ... more than a condiment ... or a pattern of beak ... 😉 ...)

    Great Vid, I totally relate, I was a stock broker in US made good $$$ and right b4 Lehman collapse I left the financial industry to start a business in Quigdao (huge risk) (many challenges) but I learned more about business working one year in China than via a 4-year business school in US. I don't agree with some peeps that your vids are negative towards China, i think they are realistic and i can attest, are quite accurate. Plain and simple, taking (calculated!) risks is what advancing in life is about. I am new to your channel and trying to catch up to your vlogs but your vlog on risk&failure really resonated with me. I have a business partner in Shenzhen (know the area quite well) hope we can even meet up some day. I would gladly share couple of my stories with you. Looking forward to watching your documentary and becoming a patron on your website.

      I have never accused a Chinese Canadian of forgetting that they are Canadian but I once said the opposite after being blasted by a woman from a dating site. I don't recall what I said but it was not malevolent. I was accused of having China fever, stereo-typing, etc. ... I said to her that "I doubt you have even been to China" or something along those lines ... apparently she had been to Hong Kong for 2 weeks once.

    • @DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV

      Allan Drake This is sort of a complex subject so I don't want to offend anyone. I'll only speak about my own situation. As a Canadian born Chinese, I always felt offended if a non-Chinese person asked if I was from China. I also felt offended if a Chinese person from overseas asked me if I could speak Chinese or asked me if I knew about Chinese culture. I always felt like I was different from Canadians and also different from Chinese in China. After I finally visited China, I came to accept my similarities to people in China and also came to accept differences with them. I know I am Canadian, but my roots are from China. I'm not sure if my answer will help you understand the encounter with the woman on the dating site.

      Yeah I get that you might be mildly offended but being overtly offended seems like an over-reaction ... something to do with patriotism and heritage.
      In the comment that I had made I believed that I was simply flirting with a very pretty younger lady and her reaction was not anticipated. Based on that experience (perhaps unfairly), I now assume Chinese Canadians to be nothing at all like native mainland Chinese in their attitudes and way of of thinking even if the person is less than one generation removed from living in China.
      Perhaps you had to be there to understand but it was one of those ... 'what the heck?' moments.
      I think Serpentza has an old video that touches on this topic and every other topic already.

    Wishing you all the best of luck. Having a similar story to share with you I can only say that truer words have never been said. I myself left SA in 1975 after having sold my Air conditioning business in Johannesburg. Also not worth a lot after all was said and done, at a time when the economy started to go south back in the mid 70's.
    I am now retired in Los Angeles with a net worth over $2,000,000 Dollars. two great sons, a lovely wife and a house in a great and safe neighborhood and wake up every day so glad that I took the chance which everyone said was dumb at the time. Keep up the good word and yes absolutely taking a calculated risk is always worth it.

      @dooder. To be frank, the coverage of elected officials has always been one sided and media seemed to be complicit with cover ups - then and now. I am a poster child for the old, how do you have 2 million in the market? Start with 4. All kidding aside, live within your means and success is more easily achieved. I have been taking risks all my life and unfortunately sometimes they have not paid off. Good luck.

      A baby boomer? What are you smoking? Have you watched the video? Growing up in South Africa where everything you own is second hand and you are in debt all the time- he didn't have some kind of right place right time thing. He lost everything and was homeless for a while too - just watch the video and listen to his story. then, after that, make comments. Your comments do not fit this guy's story. Baby boomer, no frickin' way.

    • @craigolsen3402
      @craigolsen3402 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @dooder I just fit within the boomers years. When I got out of school (which I paid for working as a house painter) the economy was starting to feel the effects of loan write-offs for latin america debt. Gyrations in central bank policies and new technologies took most american investors on a roller coaster ride. Coupled with politicians expanding government handouts, it proved to be too much for the debt market. The issues we face today all stem from people who can vote themselves a raise

Your honesty and directness is just great and so good to find in this world of almost thought control. Everyone's so mentally monitored in what they say all down to, (as far as I can see), the pc message that surrounds us here in the UK. It's like a 3d blandness, and then there's the opposite extreme of those who set out to offend which isn't your approach at all. Am glad you've found happiness, and I look forward to watching all of your output. Stay awesome !

Maybe it's because I am at a crossroads in life myself and am scared to take some risks that I would like to. It is nice to hear that failure (or perceived failure) can actually lead to something wonderful if you are bold enough to take some risks and put yourself out there! Thank you for this video! You have helped me at a low point in my life! Forever grateful to find this older video at this particular time in life! Especially, seeing all the success you have achieved since 2016, with C-Milk, ADV China (and now so many other countries) and happily married with a baby on the way! Congratulations!! +serpentza As I've said recently, I am relatively new follower of your videos. Although, I do not know how I got found your channel (probably it was some suggestion, related to motorbikes), but I liked it and appreciated it, "almost" instantly :) . After I have watched a few more, I've decided to subscribe (right now, I am not really in the position to fund or to "patronate" your channel), also sharing some of myself in PM.
    Nowadays, i just try to watch your videos, not necessarily in right time-order, but randomly. All by all, let me say for *THIS* particular video: a simple, but big THANK YOU!
    You've declared a lot, of which I can relate with (beginning form a "debt-free" concept of living and closing with that Churchill's quote), unfortunately at this very moment, I have not much people around me, to whom I could share the same (practically most of them, see me as an alienated moron), so it's a kind of reassurance that I am not the only one with this view... (more of the reason and causality one should search in Zimbardo's Stanford experiment regarding obedience #socialconformity)
    So, thanks again! :)

I am South American, but had to travel to the other side of the planet simply because Europe wouldn't take me in. I could have done like many whites in my country, just go to Europe anyway and try to get legal after some plights, but that is not like my mindset work, I don't think I would have the courage to go to another country, stay ilegally hoping to get the papers someday. I watch in disbelief every single day Europe taking in people who want to destroy its values. Meanwhile I am here in Japan, fleeing from violence toward whites

      Andrei Andreev interesting comment. I think I can guess at some of what you mean, but could you explain some? I assume you're not saying Serpentza is evil, but just commenting on the need for reflection on life's experiences in order to understand and contextualize them, and to find meaning beyond the will to act on impulse and for self alone. Am I guessing your meaning correctly?

    • @STOG01
      @STOG01 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's important - but the way he's saying it reminds me strongly of how politicians reply when facts from their recent career come up or are brought up. And instead of explaining this and that - they would say "i don't like to dwell on the past". And if the media doesn't "dwell" properly - they get to become president. Just sayin'

    • @artyompetrovichfalin4391
      @artyompetrovichfalin4391 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Yeop Kim Strange point of view you got there.
      I believe that elders deserve to be taken care of by the young generation. Just like we are working on improving and sustaining the community we call "state", they did the same, when they were young.
      I believe that a working person deserves the governments...no, OUR help, when they are old, since it was every single one of them, who made our homelands what they are.
      That's how I feel it, even though there I things I could blame the older generations for. But I don't, because it was their work, that allowed me to have the good life I have

      In civilised societies, the elderly were looked after, from the Greeks, the Romans, the Incas - the Inca empire had a system where the elderly were looked after by a welfare state, that was more than 500 years ago, go and look it up. Yes, I know Koreans 500 years ago were eating their own faeces and pointing to the sun but the rest of the world were far more advanced.
