As is likely the case with many here, I have been researching not just how to get a channel up and running, but also maintain it. The past several videos I have watched from you were far more helpful than a majority of the hours I have watched from various others.

Whoever is reading DONT give up on your channel. Think about all the hard work that you have already put in. Every youtuber was once in your spot they just kept going. I'm late on the comments. But another interesting phenomenon on TH-cam is when a video is 10 out of 10 for the first 24, 48 hours or more and then 6 months later the video pops off. I learned not to judge any video the first time that happened to me. :) Lots of good tips in here Rob. Thank you!

I always try my best to reply to all comments. When it comes to analytics, I still do struggle to figure out if I should change my thumbnail or title, still, I am trying to learn. The biggest and most important aspect that I have learnt from you Rob my man is this, make content that is of value to your viewers, not what you want. Thanks dude.

Oh thanks for the reassurance 💜 this happened to my channel lately, impressions rate grew high while click through rate went down suddenly and I got worried n started brain storming abt how to lift the impression click through rate of my videos up again. You know that made me feel like ok youtube is pushing my videos to more audience, it's doing it's job but since the click through rate went low I felt like I wasn't doing my part well, I'm the one to blame for hindering the growth of my channel so I thought I have to thrive more, started feeling a bit exhausted. You really rescued me there, thanks a ton! :-) loads of love to you.

I read every comment posted on every video, even 11 year old videos. I respond to most, if not all. Same as I did when I first started.
How many comments do you think you've had. We're at about 2 million (but that does include livestreams).
@vidIQ Oh Gosh, I have no idea. 11 years of video making. A few viral hits that still get comments several years later. In the hundreds of thousands for sure.

The way I felt when one of my video I never expected has been 1/10 ever since I published it like 8 months.The happiness and satisfaction keeps pushing me to do more.I reply to all comments and aways appreciate my subscribers and viewers
I think the simplest things often have a big effect. Hearting and replying to comments may take you 30 seconds, but it has a big impact on the commenters. One thing I do is add captions to my videos. Not the automated captions, but the manual ones. This takes me about 5 minutes, but it makes my videos much better.
Really appreciating these videos, it's a bit overwhelming as a new creator juggling so many new skills, I've been binge watching you folks for the last 2 days and my second video will definitely be better than my first! I can't change my equipment much at this stage but I can definitely make a better video today than I could yesterday! Thankyou!

Just want to share you all what can actually happen when you change a thumbnail.
I did a little experiment on a video that was already performing really well, and wanted to see if it could perform better. I changed the thumbnail to represent even more what was happening in the video, and almost immediately the CTR went from 5% to 8.9% and views jumped from 100-200 an hour, to 800-1,300 and took my video close to 200,000 views. It's such an overlooked trick that a lot more creators should be using!

I am here watching this video because I am not doing a good job at compartmentalizing. My last video did not perform as well as expected so I'm going down a "how to be a better youtuber" wormhole instead of compartmentalizing and working on the next video.

Glad you brought but Dan's gaming videos. I implemented much of the advice he gave on this channel I am commenting from and this channel has been killing it almost right out the gate. 350k views in last 28 days and channel started on Oct 24th.

7:28 to 7:45 is exactly what my channel is going through right now. My videos having been getting a huge boost in impressions recently (up in the 500-1000 which is high for my channel) one video even getting over 10k impressions and CTR dropped and I have been very concerned about it but I am glad I got a very clear answer here. thanks VIDIQ
For a long time I had a self consciousness about showing my face on camera and telling myself it wasn't necessary. I started a second, unrelated channel and started posting phone vlogs to an audience of 0 to get more comfortable. It worked too. I felt more comfortable doing it on my main channel. I think it is important because these days it's about people being able to relate to the channel owner.
It feels good when others leave a heartfelt comment. Also since I am a really small channel, I prefer to give a genuine reply rather than a pre created, boring, more or the same comments. Take care Rob and nice to see another video of yours
Absolutely we'd love to personalize each response based on the comment itself (like I'm doing here). So difficult to scale this up though.

This was really informative, Rob. I spend a little time the day of posting to monitor impressions per traffic source but move onto the next one within a day. Sometimes I revisit videos that pick up steam in search and try to tweak the packaging, but I might start spacing things out and reacting a lot more like how you describe here.

Wow, I'm really speechless but everything still balls down to making my thumbnail more catchy, and my title as well. I think I have improved compared to my previous thumbnails and video titles. Honestly, It's not easy to just blow up one night but I know with consistency, I will get there and yes I reply to some of my audience's comments and react to the rest because it's not easy to reply to all.

I wish the recent video performance info would tell you AVD % instead of raw numbers, since your AVD in raw minutes will be heavily influenced by the length of a video. It's not very helpful in that regard, but % will always be relevant.

I'm sure there is a reason for this. Maybe it needs to be verified before YT can start sticking numbers against AVD.

When it comes to replying to comments, mine can range from a simple "thanks/cheers" reply to something more long winded, depending on the comment I'm replying to, although I prefer to write each of them out myself rather than use the pre-made responses that can be utilised.
Case in point, with my most recent video I spoke in a bit of detail about how a collection I'm getting into is growing, but is taking time due to preferences.
Admittedly, I'm a small creator that doesn't get comments on my videos all that often, compared to larger creators, so I do have time to reply to any and all comments I get.

Briefly looked at your channel. If it were me I might try to answer questions like:
fifa 23 how to griddy
fifa 23 how to power shot
fifa 23 how to defend
fifa 23 how to take penalties
fifa 23 how to make coins
The idea here is to try to make good videos that will rank #1 in search for those terms (or other popular FIFA search terms). This may or may not be easier said than done. Also, consider building around one concept where there is a full video or two along with one or two shorts that are versions of the same video. Remember though it's your channel and you can do whatever you want. Good luck!

I saw your channel on one of "The Spiffing Brit" videos and wanted to know more about what you are up to here. I must say, that you gave me so many tips just by watching your videos and using the free vidiq browser extension, that I already had a positive resonance! In 3 days taking some care of the channel and investing some time, I gained 10 folowers and the channel looks mutch better. Before I didn't used many functions, because "why sould I bother" and that is realy a failure. Also making a banner and avatar let it more shine now!
