Justin your attention to detail is second to none. I love the thought put into the concepts. There’s so many rushed/ poorly thought out videos in this community. Yours always feel more structured and balanced. And your fragrance knowledge and articulation is appreciated.
Some reviewers had me on the fence with Dior Fahrenheit with the talk of the petrol or gasoline note it has . I’m so glad I decided to give it a try because my collection won’t be without it. My wife also loves it.
I think the Aqua di Gio line and its core DNA deserves a spot here too. The whole aquatics type of fragrance managed to appeal to a large group of new people. But to pick one that remained largely unchanged wouldnt be an easy task, so i can see why theres not a specific one up on the list.
Ganymede is a masterpiece and one i truly hope is a timeless one at that. That mineral note along with citrus, fruit, spice, leather and wood smells all playing their part and having time in the limelight just makes this a truly amazing fragrance
Joining Justin in praising the entire Dior Homme line! 🥇Each flanker - The Dior Homme, Intense, and Parfum - is a masterpiece in its own right, offering unique personalities and distinct functionalities. While choosing a favorite is difficult, all deliver niche-worthy quality at an accessible designer price
Awesome vid as always, justin....tho u did show the edp version of habit rouge, which was a more modern flanker. Both are stright 🔥 regardless. Keep the classics in the rotation.
You mentioned you think there are other options to Silver Mountain Water, that you like better or “prefer”. What are they? I’m curious. I looked through your videos to see if you have covered it, didn’t see it. Have you sampled Habit Rouge Prive? It’s nice. Really nice leather.
Recently sampled platinum egoist in person, I had to buy a 50ml after that. The more I smell it the more I love it! This is my current daily wear it is so classy!
I love hearing others views on Masterpiece fragrances and do own or have owned either full bottles or decants of the majority of these you've mentioned. If you love fragrances I think its important that you have the opportunity to aquire at the very least a sample or decant of these so you can use them as a reference point for judging other fragrances........DHP is a masterpiece....just my humble opinion 😊
Hey Justin couldn’t help but tell you that at the Cartier declaration the banner said “creed”. Fell in love with Himalaya after hearing you talk about it
Guerlain has released some new fragrances including Habit Rouge Parfum & one that I will definitely try; L'Homme Ideal Parfum. They are available for purchase in Europe (I am not sure about North America)
We’ve kind have had a parallel history. I started earlier, because I’m old and my first fragrances were pretty classic feminine scents. I often sampled and incorporated some of the masculine masterpieces into my collection. I think the first “masculine” scent I bought was Eau Sauvage, Hermes l’Orange Vert was a classic but it has been diluted into obscurity. I love vetiver, leather and tobacco notes so I often explore the “masculine” fragrances.
Great list. Serious question, do you consider Bleu de Chanel a masterpiece and big daddy of the blue perfumes, or a mere extension of the fougere class?
I have to agree with you on Fahrenheit, and the "association" aspect as well. I don't really rock it anymore because of the "association" factor, but that doesn't mean it's not a all-time classic. Ganymede is also a modern-day classic, good video 👍🏼
Justin, I had my Terre D'Hermes posted for sale as I watched this 😅. But this past week, I smelled it on a guy downtown and I recognized it immediately. It smelled so good flowing through the air. That along with your video persuaded me to give it another chance. I was reminded of how I've had scents that I've hated and actually came to love. I took the sale post down mid video. Unboxed it, tried it again and just like that, I got vision of how I can dress this secnt up handsomely. So different from my sweeter frags, I feel it adds a bit of versatility to my collection. I'm definitely keeping it! That makes 4 on this list I have. Thanks, bro!
I have Timbuktu and I do like it a lot. The Houbigant is elusive. From the first time that I heard of it on your channel, I have been unable to find it except at the high priced retailers. It’s sold out everywhere else.
I now have over 200 fragrances in my collection (too many). Fahrenheit is my all time favorite and probably my scent my family recognizes the most. I probably where it at least once a week. Recently I bought a couple vintage bottles from 1990.
Hey Justin, in this great video you state that Creed Silver Mountain water is not your favorite of fragrances that smell like it. I really love the scent's DNA but it only lasts 2 measly hours before dying on my skin. I would really love to see a list of fragrances in this category that you prefer. All the best!
I do love the scent and I don’t mind its longevity. The scents I prefer to it aren’t necessarily any stronger. One of them is Alghabra Scent of Paradise.
I love Habit Rouge, and I love samples in general. Like many, I started buying full bottles, mostly cheapies, that reviewers raved about. However, I later switched to buying samples only, and then getting full bottles of only those that truly wow me. That way, I get to try a BUNCH of frags, including those that are raved about but I found out to me are just so-so. But I keep my shelf stocked only with true loves.
@@stayfreshproductions pulled the trigger on it a few hours ago. Got it for a great price... Got the Amouage Enclave, been enjoying it so much I didn't even report back. Best smelling fragrance I've ever gotten my nose on and it's not even close
Ganymede is a real masterpiece- It is my signature scent since 2 years. Its great. I think the (black bottled) Brioni intense is a perfume which goes in the same direction of understatement and elegance- but is not a copy of it.
I agree with most and have several myself. You need to try the OG Egoiste, maybe Platinum will fall from the masterpiece shelf as it did for me 😊. Cheers!
Hey Justin I have been following you for year , but anyway my favorite old school fragrance since I left Haiti my dad used to wear it Azzaro pour homme. I think it’s timeless to me.
Cartier Declaration is an ode to Hermes Eau d’hermes in my opinion. That’s the real masterpiece. I believe that’s why Hermes made Ellena the in house perfumer afterward. Both stunning scents.
I kno this is off topic, but I've been on the search of the fragrance u reviewed a few times thats in the vein of orange creamsicle! Would u happen to kno what fragranceim referring to?
08:10 Could you please make a video about how perfumery looked like and developed over the past few decades? Even just with broad strokes. I was (almost) totally ignoring fragrances until recently, but that changed and I try to pick up bits of info every now and then, online. Roja Dove has a talk here titled 'Fragrance Through The Decades' that I found brilliant, but given how well you can talk about and present subjects, I'd be happy to see a video from you about some cultural history of fragrances, for people who had been living under a rock lol. Edit: I have little idea about what constitutes a designer or a niche fragrance. So far I was assuming that big houses with considerable resources (capital, market share, brand recognition) making mass-appealing, financially "safe bet" fragrances fall under the designer category, and smaller indie companies are niche. But now I wonder if there's more to this.
Good idea. I’ve touched on this idea in parts from different angles. It’s definitely a large topic to tackle all at once, because perfumery has branches in different directions all at the same time. Not too dissimilar from music, or visual art. The niche/designer dichotomy has been blurred a bit over time. So I personally choose to evaluate the difference on a fragrance-by-fragrance basis these days. There are niche houses who create mainstream, mass-appealing fragrances (ex. Parfums de Marly Percival). And there are designer brands that create niche fragrances; scents that do not appeal to the mass market (ex. Gucci Guilty Absolutely Pour Homme).
@@stayfreshproductions Ah, looking at it in that level of resolution makes more sense. Thank you for your reply and explanation! And I agree, the more I see iabout perfumery the more I realize that it really is an art form. So maybe even a video covering just the most notable trends of the recent decades would be a challange. Looks like every decent big or "indie" (is that even a term for them? lol) house inevitably creates a new branch or style with each well-received scent DNA they make. And again, great video, I really enjoy your style of presentation and delivery, and it seems like you enjoy making these videos as well. Keep up the great work!
Ganymede, how does that compare to PM from Fragrance du Bois? It is said that that also has that luxury car smell. If you have tried that one of course? And as always, a good video 👍
Hey Justin. You did pick some of my favorites here. Nice choices and nice scents. Habit Rouge was the scent I wore for my wedding. Despite that, I still wear it today. LOL. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for including Timbuktu! It’s not mentioned very much, and that is a shame.. I have the new bottle version and I love the mature airy mysterious character, makes it perfect for professional occasions..I prayed it into some clothes this morning, after seeing this video, to check it’s performance.. Was still noticeable in the afternoon, though faint.. I feel this fits it’s unique profile, you want it mysteriously hangin in the air instead of it being pushed in your face (not that the old formulation does that, I’ve never smelled it)..
Great video. I love Fahrenheit edt, have not used it in years but will always remain as one of my favorites. Egoiste is another favorite of mine though I prefer the Original rather than the platinum. Habit rouge is great. Fougere Royale sounds very interesting. Am not a very big fan of tea in perfumes but I do prefer the two Gris Charnel scents over SMW. CD Homme Dior may be a Masterpiece by definition but I never liked it, as it smells like a cross between diapers and lipstick on me! Timbuktu sounds interesting but at the same time seems to have a few things in common with the older Ricci Club including the hexagonal bottle! Chergui is amazing but very polarizing, I smelled it and I loved it, but it is not easy to wear, need the mood and the occasion for it. Terre is incredible and I have the original as well as the Givree, I have my eye on the EDP :). Tuscan Leather is one of my top leather perfumes, have it and love it. Jubilation original I loved it, but yes the Myrrh and other resins were way too powerful in it. Haven't smelled the new release yet. Aventus was great but I grew out of it. Ganymede I have yet to sample.
Great list, and some I would not have thought of. I wonder if you considered Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum. To me it deserves a spot. Or was it not revolutionary enough, perhaps just an evolution of the fougere?
Thanks for the video. You said you didn’t like Dior Homme when you first tried it. But I couldn’t tell if you meant that you like it now. What do you think now?
Great reviewer. I would do a video on “bangers”…drakkar, joop, ck one, jpg, sauvage, polo green, Hermes, Dior homme intense, light blue, the one, boss, TF ombre parfum, axe, Eros, issae M, just mainstream MVPs we all have. Ones gifted by our mothers or bought by us because they represented everything cool during that time
I don't know about silver mountain water man, I personally dont enjoy it that much compared to other creeds, but citrus bigarade is def a timeless masterpiece
It’s not about personal enjoyment, it’s about impact! Nothing else smelled like it before it came out, and it’s still one of Creed’s best sellers. There way I see it, it is objective, which means that it doesn’t matter how any one of us feels about-it’s status cannot be removed. 👌🏾
Tried modeen timbuktu. As he said, longevity was beyond disappointing. Especially for a spicy vetiver scent. Tea for two and legendes du cedre from the same house are better.
Buddy, I would have sent you a decant of dior homme silver stem. I only have a couple ml left, but you're not missing much. The 1st reform isn't that different from the silver stem. The original Dior homme cologne silver stem? Totally different story. Wish I could find something like it
The real masterpieces in my (small) collection are terre de hermes, (though perfomance is bad) Gris Charnel extrait, and Ganymede. I agree the term masterpiece is thrown around too losely, and these fragrances are in my opinion the best from their respective houses, and the best work by their respective perfumers. Also, a new release - that i would consider a masterpiece, is Pantomime Act 5 from Holland. Absolute best vetiver, apart from TDH, that ive ever tried. fresh, longlasting, unique and very classy, and pretty good pricepoint. by the way, great videos man, really solid content and production quality.
Maybe it is just me, but there is less masterpiece fragrances in the last 10 years from designers houses (i am talking about new DNA's no flankers) When i see new DNA like Hermes H24 or Dior Homme 2020 i can say that i like them but they are not amazing to me . BTW I would love to see Justin version on a Top 10 of the best fragrances (according to his own taste) released in the last 10 years, from 2014 to 2024 (one niche one designer)
hey justin do you know any fragrance that smells similar to platinum egoiste but perform well over 6h+ ? i really love my platinum egoiste but seems like it has performance issues.
Very Interesting 🤔 This Trip Dowm The Memory Fraglane! To me Therre D'Hermes is absolutely stunning Masterpiece ✨ Same goes for Dior Fahrenheit but for me another one from Dior can only be Dior Homme Parfume ♂️ Another total master is the Manifique the one & only Gynamede ❣️ Love ❣️ It ❣️ Will see about Chergui because I Will buy it soon but I really enjoy Amber Sultan so things are looking promising 😊 Thanks Justin Another Epic Review!!!
I remember trying Chergui for the first time at Saks after watching a bunch of reviews and I absolutely couldn't stand it. It smelled to me like an old lady that rubbed tobacco on herself, stuff was nasty and so dense, like there wasn't any room for the molecules to move. I imagine this is what a hippy smelled like after playing with essential oils, big pass for me. I do remember going into the bathroom and scrubbing my skin for ages trying to get that stuff off. Platinum Egoiste though...that is an all time classic, too bad the reformulations have sacrificed the depth that it once had.
😂😂funny i have 3 mentioned M7; Declaration (parfum) and Terre d’Hermes. Classics and masterfully created. Looking to adding the new reformulation of Habit Rouge soon. 😂i’m a bit of a hard head and never read reviews before picking a fragrance to avoid being bias but i found your page after taking interest in Habit Rouge, now i’m positive. Thanks!
Fougere Royale is SO good if you like that style. Your description of Serge has piqued my interest, and I will look for a decant. You won't hear about ome of these frags on other channels. Once again, great, unique content!
Interestingly, you talked about Creed SMW, but not GIT as a "masterpiece". I think the combo of GIT/Cool Water set the trend for fresh smells in the late 80s and early 90s. Without these two brilliant creations by Pierre Bourdon, the fragrance landscape would have been so different.
Current formulations of Fahrenheit are far off from the original I wore it in the 80s it literally smelled like a topping off the fuel on a hot lawnmower after cutting grass the name was very accurate. Today it’s still great but not what was available back then due to formula changes and restrictions. Where did that bottle go anyway
@@almightyroachkillaz not that I’m aware of I’ve heard people mention Amouage Portrayal man but I’ve samples it and personally don’t get a resemblance. I’d say current formula still smells good just not as pungent/aggressive can always look for a vintage bottle on eBay if the price isn’t outrageous
I always find it strange that you have to mention if a fragrance isn’t listed in THIS video… that doesn’t mean it isn’t good, you may still really like it but…, etc. People… Not every fragrance can be mentioned in every review/video. Take what’s given… And move on. Buying Habit Rouge..
@@stayfreshproductions lol, sorry. Don't mean to be critical for the sake of it. Just an observation. Appreciate the list. Definitely got me curious to smell some new scents.
I know you probably don't know the talent you got. You go too deep. Im going to tell you the truth. I prefer you over Aaron Terence, why? Because Terrence can explain the scientific part of fragrance, but his taste varies and thats not good. One day he says Carlisle is not good and in other video he said the opposite. You always come up with diffrent content, you are very creative for the simple fact that you play trumpet and to be a musician you have to be creative and come up with different subjects. Bro you're killing it. Don't ever give up DR Copeland
I'm not sure about 'timeless', but certainly some of these are fragrance superstars. Fougere Royale is on my radar. I barely remember Dior Homme 2005, but I do recall thinking "this is a guy's cologne???" and then walking away. Now it's ethereal...at least the 2011.
Hey man, biggest compliment I could give comes from something my daughter (fraghead in training) said yesterday. “Hey dad, Justin seems cool, if he lived around here I bet you guys would be friends".

Hello Justine, once you mentioned that some are reminded of Ganymede when they smell Kenzo Homme EDP. Can you tell me how close they smell like?
They are different enough! They don’t smell the same.
Wish I could find something like it
Thanks for sharing this!
@stayfreshproductions absolutely! Love your content. We actually have very different tastes, so I use your love lists to guage my interest
Thank you for the kind words. I’m not familiar with Holland, will need to look into them.
9:46 hahaha I definitely had those massive Girbaud jeans on though
L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme 2004
Perfumer - Beatrice Piquet
hey justin do you know any fragrance that smells similar to platinum egoiste but perform well over 6h+ ? i really love my platinum egoiste but seems like it has performance issues.
@@HellRell2Shellit lasts about 6hrs on my skin, wich is fine imo
Nothing quite like Platinum as far as fougeres go.
Isn’t pinaud clubman the original fougere? Because I believe it came first
It might be the original aftershave, but I don’t believe it is technically classed as a Fougère.
Okay Justin I got Tuscan L and Amouage jubilation 25
Very Interesting 🤔 This Trip Dowm The Memory Fraglane! To me Therre D'Hermes is absolutely stunning Masterpiece ✨ Same goes for Dior Fahrenheit but for me another one from Dior can only be Dior Homme Parfume ♂️ Another total master is the Manifique the one & only Gynamede ❣️ Love ❣️ It ❣️ Will see about Chergui because I Will buy it soon but I really enjoy Amber Sultan so things are looking promising 😊 Thanks Justin Another Epic Review!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Another great video Brother
Much appreciated
Platinum Egoiste is clutch
😂😂funny i have 3 mentioned M7; Declaration (parfum) and Terre d’Hermes. Classics and masterfully created. Looking to adding the new reformulation of Habit Rouge soon. 😂i’m a bit of a hard head and never read reviews before picking a fragrance to avoid being bias but i found your page after taking interest in Habit Rouge, now i’m positive. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoy HR.
Great video.
Fougere Royale is SO good if you like that style. Your description of Serge has piqued my interest, and I will look for a decant. You won't hear about ome of these frags on other channels. Once again, great, unique content!
Thank you!
So which are your favorites that smell like Silver Mountain Water?
Xerjoff Mefisto, Alghabra Scent of Paradise
@@stayfreshproductions Thank you!
It’s time to change your channel to “The Fragrance Philosopher”
Interestingly, you talked about Creed SMW, but not GIT as a "masterpiece". I think the combo of GIT/Cool Water set the trend for fresh smells in the late 80s and early 90s. Without these two brilliant creations by Pierre Bourdon, the fragrance landscape would have been so different.
I left out a lot of greats.
You could have had 5 or 6 Amouage or Diors on this list and it would make sense. Savage Elixir has been the biggest trend setter in years.
Sauvage élixir came out on 2021, what do you mean “for years”
@@Salomon-l4z I said “ in years “
Good stuff for sure!
speaking of timeless masterpieces green irish tweed is up there.
Is there anything out now that compares to the og?
@@almightyroachkillaz not that I’m aware of I’ve heard people mention Amouage Portrayal man but I’ve samples it and personally don’t get a resemblance. I’d say current formula still smells good just not as pungent/aggressive can always look for a vintage bottle on eBay if the price isn’t outrageous
@@mrrob4590 man I feel u we are at exactly the same place. Yea portrayal man is bomb but not og fahrenheit at all. Thanks for the reply ✌️
Thanks.
“..Girbaud jeans, with my Fubus on. Massive Marc Ecko shirt, C walkin in the club” 😂😂😂
On the declaration by Cartier you put 'Creed' on the on-screen text instead of Cartier
Cool
Thank you Javier 🙏🏾
BR540 is missing. I think that is a masterpiece.
There are many fragrances that are missing here
Dang I’m early!
Can’t wait to watch this
I'm not sure about 'timeless', but certainly some of these are fragrance superstars. Fougere Royale is on my radar. I barely remember Dior Homme 2005, but I do recall thinking "this is a guy's cologne???" and then walking away. Now it's ethereal...at least the 2011.
My wife’s comments on HR EDP were…”smells like a candy shop” 😂 probably the vanilla coming through strong
Haha
Cool list, I'm definitely surprised that JPG Le Male didn't make the list
It was on screen at the beginning when I mentioned that there would be many omissions
i am simple man, i see Justin Copeland video, i click, i watch, i enjoy.
🙏🏾🙏🏾
Timbuktu is in wishlist... any fragrance with african name in it entices me😂
I take it you have not tried Egoiste, the real Daddy before Platinum.
Next time Junior Justin should do the list
I’ve tried it, simply don’t own it.
Welp the secrets out... I am indeed a Vampire!!! my entire goal has been to get close... Drats!!! 😂😂😂
😆
I miss the old guerlain bottles..might have to throw holy water at ya and grab your Habit Rouge 😂 great topic🎉
😆
I’m surprised you went for the platinum flanker of égoïste
The original égoïste would seem more appropriate
As I said, a lot of holes would be left
