Joshua is one of my favorites with Brian Blade and Pat is a nice fringe benefit. So much to be learned from watching Pat's linear approach to the fretboard.
The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness. It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It is interesting to hear a tenor on this song. Josh has a full open-throat sound, like Joe Henderson. Ornette’s alto is pinched and cutting (not an insult!). Pat & Josh were really good here.
Blade is what I would call a classical jazz drummer. His groove is slightly behind the beat. Accents and fills are quotes from many of the old time players, understated and cool. Ride crashes, snare rimshots but not too loud. He swings with the others. A downbeat player. Just smooth.
non capisco tutti questi "hallelujah"... Grandi musicisti, ma a parte batterista e sassofonista, tutto sembrava solo una prova muscolare. Il suono di di McBride poi, è imbarazzante...
Waldo W There's single bar melody but mostly pattern playing,, he does this on long improvs a lot but I don't think it defines him,, my goodness his work is full of outstanding melodic work
Best bass solo I’ve ever heard
Had the great fortune to see this band in Albuquerque, NM My first time watching Brian Blade, put joy all around !
I think this was a good period for Redman's playing. He's producing a nice full tone and playing very clearly. What a great band!
Chris McBride on BASS. from philly. WOW.

Oh my word such an incredibly flavourful solo from Pat and wonderfully accompanied by Blade and McBride.Mind blown yet.
The 90s was an incredible decade for Jazz.

Te adoro Joshua
So fine 🎶
Chris McBride is 1 of the most melodic double bass players ever. Dude plays every line in the song during his solo.
With flawless intonation.
Fabuleux !
A wild Christian Mcbride appears with HAIR!!!
10:16 dirty so so dirty. and I love how the band slowed down, the starting head and closing head are at 2 different tempos

Damn I dream about playing like this. Then I wake up. It's a shame
When I dream my guitar sounds like Pat but when wide awake it just looks at me oh the Shane I feel the pain

Redman rushing shit at usual. Great players though.
Not worth it

Pat Metheny is not a musician, just a scale maker...
Yes, Pat's playing here makes me think of Jimmy Bruno's recent question: "Whatever happened to melody?"
Waldo W
