It’s so cool to hear these guys playing before their styles had really codified. You can hear the seeds of all the things that would become these guys’ signature musical devices
What a great crop of young musicians the 90's gave jazz. Christian was only 22 years old....Sixteen years later, each of these young lions has become a major force moving the music forward. Each has his own unique voice. Jazz is in good hands.
I saw this quartet when they played at State College back when I was studying. Every single one of these guys was burning, but Mehldau was clearly the one that stood out. Watching this again is such a privilege.
Ladies and gentlemen on bass Mr. Christian "burning strings" Mc"superfukingbass"Bride!!!!!! Wowowowowoooooowwwww!!!!! Oh my God, that bass was crying!!!! God bless You Chris, and God damns me everytime I hear You playing bass!!!! Too marvellous for words!!!!
I finished a transcription of Brad's solo on this. If you're curious about some of what he played here, check my transcription out: th-cam.com/video/b4SiFHwLCeI/w-d-xo.html
Just noticed that almost every idea Redman plays is a response to an idea from Mehldau. Mind blown.
I could listen to this rhythm section play the blues all day
Same

브레드멜다우 솔로 ㅋㅋㅋ 저 시기가 산에 들어가서 왼손연습10년했다는 시기인듯 ㅋㅋㅋ
Here my man looks and sounds a wee bit like Dex.
they played it super fast :/
I quite like the tempo of this one compared to their album version
167bpm. Not very fast compared to other originals they play.
Makes no sence to react on you and your clan.
A baseball cap? Glad I was around when Lucky Thompson and Dexter Gordon were performing. Class has largely gone out the window.
You're looking too much and listening too little my guy
@@samjeffery1956
Nah, he can blow; that's why I'm here. Just homesick for when Black people still had class and style. Before 6ix 9ine, I guess.
You are wrong.
Gee, doesn't sound like he's wearing a baseball cap... 🙄
