As someone who played 2016-2018 I remember sooo many things in this video, and I'm also surprised at some things that I didn't know happened, like graveyard not having RNG spawn and log not damaging crown towers.
That’s actually a mistake - supercell drafted a balance change where logs range would be reduced so it doesn’t hit towers, but it was unpopular so they never pushed it out.
Some old facts that I rmb 1)goblin barrel used to cost 4 elixir and deals low damage to the tower upon hitting 2)zap and princess used to counter a goblin barrel completely 3)the log cannot push back giants when it was first introduced 4)freeze didn’t have damage, but upgrading it increase its duration 5)the hog mountain used to be the legendary arena and it is reached in 3000 trophies + you can get legend trophies for the amount of trophies u have over 3000
Some that I remember -Prince was a rare -Game was release for certain countries in January but March for others so I had to use a vpn to get it. -Every clash royale player still had a father because Ebarbs didn’t exist yet. -Tv royale only showed top players -Landscape mode on replays

Clash 2016 was sooo good. I miss it terribly. Legendaries felt like, legendaries. Epics felt epic. No pass royale. And an epic was always guaranteed early game.
Funfact: Xbow shooting air troops would make it a worse win condition because it gives your opponent more troops to block the xbow with, yes I would have been a better defensive building, however it would almost never lock on if it could hit air.
Xbow had far better stats back then so it would very likely even out, also at the time the tankyiest air card at the time was either the balloon or the dragon, so it wouldnt be that hard to connect since supports exist
Who else remembers these 1) Witch used to spawn 3 skeletons in a line in front of her instead of 4 around her 2) Witch used to not deal area damage after one wave of balance chances 3) Executioner used to deal 400 damage per 4 hits on enemies after one update
A few more: The PEKKA initially had a longer deploy time, just like the golem does now. It was removed. The goblin gang had 6 goblins-three melee, three spear-for 3 goddamn elixir. The log actually didn’t have knockback and is considered THE worst legendary. SC adding knockback instantly made it the best legendary spell ever. The electro wizard could be one-shotted by a same-level fireball at launch (like the ice wizard is now). Since even epic cards were so expensive in the earliest of CR, the PEKKA twin prince smash was seen as a deck of prestige and power. At launch, poison spell had a slowing effect, just like its COC counterpart, but is even better since it also affected buildings. This made poison-giant strats almost invincible. In the earliest of days, zap was a SINGLE-TARGET spell. The goblin barrel once costed 4 elixir, and dealt damage to its surroundings upon impact. This made it one of the worst spells in early CR. Speaking of which, goblins could once be killed with a same-level zap (the AOE spell which we know today, ofc). SC nerfed the damage of zap by 6% to create one of the most annoying metas of all time: knight-princess-gob barrel-rocket. From a player since 03/2016

@@Zucth There's not really a good way to fix it. The hordes problem is that it dies to like every spell for a positive elixir trade, but you can't buff it without affecting regular minions. Logically a five elixir card shouldn't die to a 3 elixir spell (like witch and wizard survive arrows), but buffing their health would make regular minions super overpowered.

It was 2016 when clash royale became accessible to everyone and I was at Arena 5. I remember seeing the card "mirror" and really wanting it. At the time, when I reached Arena 5 I was thinking to myself if I should have bought a few giant chests just for a chance to get it. I remember spending 10 euros (which was a bit spent on a mobile game for me since I was a kid) to get 3 giant chests. Unfortunately I didn't get no mirror in those chests. I was really sad, and decided to spend 5 more euros to open one more giant chest. I see 4 cards, i see the second to last card being a mirror. I screamed with joy. The last card was an ice wizard. I think I don't apreciate these little things anymore in life. A less than 0.1% to get it. It was epic. I was the only one in my school to have a legendary at the time. Thanks for reading❤️

Pretty sure they made the fire spirit 1 elixir to make it more similar to the other ones. Also, they increased it's damage and splash size, so it's pretty much the same as before
Idk if anyone remebers, but on the early days of clash royale, the prince had different sounds, when he charged the horse also screamed and when he hited something he would make a more high pitched sound in comparation of today.

I loved the old fire spirits they were by far my favorite card. To all the bitter people in the comments, I did not say the fire spirit are any worse or better than the fire spirits. You simply cannot take a minion horde out with it anymore, it does more damage to towers and costs less elixer. The only improvement was in top ladder usage, and I simply said I liked the previous fire spirits and now nerds who need to hug their parents and touch some grass are having a "skill issue" debate about a single card, I mean tf is your life by that point lol, it's just a game and you clearly don't enjoy it😂

Clan chests with crowns required to fill them, and you would see thousands of people intentionally losing 1v1 matches to drop in ladder, so they could easily abuse crowns for the clan chest from playing weaker opponents in starting arenas. I remember when 10th arena was the highest and if you had 3000 trophies, you were a proficient and respected player. I remember old ladder leagues, old challenges, old tournaments that you could create yourself if you had some gems. I remember wooden chests that were available for opening every 4 hours, a king chest every 24 hours. I remember how happy everyone was when unlocking their first legendary card, and I was too, when I unlocked an Ice Wizard from a clan chest on Feb 22, 2017. I remember when getting a Giant, an Epic or a Magical chest would actually mean anything, and when getting a Super Magical or a Legendary chest, you would literally let everyone in the classroom know about it, and everyone would run towards you to look at it. I remember old cards before significant changes: Fire Spirits in a count of 3 costing 2 elixir, Melee Goblins would spawn in a count of 3 and not 4, Barbarians could be summoned for 4 elixir rather than 5, King Giant was spawning with a huge delay before activating, Elite Barbarians were a lot faster and were considered the most cancer card in the whole game, Bomb Tower wasn't leaving a delayed bomb after falling or expiring, Barbarian Hut cost 7 elixir instead of 6, Rage had no damage but much higher radius, Tornado had lesser AoE I believe, but it channeled units to the center of itself more slowly but also more powerfully, Baloon had higher damage per hit, but lesser attack speed, Executioner's icon looked different, The Miner and the Log did considerably more dmg to king towers, the Night Witch and the Megaknight were super OP at their respective releases, Sparky was really a trash can with a very slow load time, which has been subsquently reduced, Arrows would do full damage straight away, unlike how it currently is with layers of damage. The old king emojis, old card prices. I remember how excited everyone was when 2v2 was added to the game for July 2017 exclusively

2:54 I stopped playing clash royale years ago, but since when where people playing this deck? Back then I used to play a slightly different lava hound clone deck, but it was considered by the majority of players as a "fun" deck (as in not a meta deck), and basically nobody played clone. Hell some players even despised playing clone as it was too easily countered by low elixir spells. And while a well managed clone could get you pretty far in ranked mode, it was nowhere near enough to achieve some top ranking. So what happened?
I always hated the magical chest because I was the only person in my group of friends who never got a legendary from one. Been playing consistently since 2016 and got my first legendary from a magical chest less than a month ago.

for the old playersrs,there also used to be a trend when we used to write a message to superscell frequesting for a legendary and after a bit most players used to get it as well.though it didnt happen to me,my friends did get legendaries bucuz of the request they made.I got my first legendary via magical chest ,it still feels like yesterday.the good old days man....😇

In the royale pass, when you tap two chests simultaneously, a slot with a chest will appear, saying "1 chest remaining".
I remember everything from 2017. Clan chests with crowns required to fill them, and you would see thousands of people intentionally losing 1v1 matches to drop in ladder, so they could easily abuse crowns for the clan chest from playing weaker opponents in starting arenas. I remember when 10th arena was the highest and if you had 3000 trophies, you were a proficient and respected player. I remember old ladder leagues, old challenges, old tournaments that you could create yourself if you had some gems. I remember wooden chests that were available for opening every 4 hours, a king chest every 24 hours. I remember how happy everyone was when unlocking their first legendary card, and I was too, when I unlocked an Ice Wizard from a clan chest on Feb 22, 2017. I remember when getting a Giant, an Epic or a Magical chest would actually mean anything, and when getting a Super Magical or a Legendary chest, you would literally let everyone in the classroom know about it, and everyone would run towards you to look at it. I remember old cards before significant changes: Fire Spirits in a count of 3 costing 2 elixir, Melee Goblins would spawn in a count of 3 and not 4, Barbarians could be summoned for 4 elixir rather than 5, King Giant was spawning with a huge delay before activating, Elite Barbarians were a lot faster and were considered the most cancer card in the whole game, Bomb Tower wasn't leaving a delayed bomb after falling or expiring, Barbarian Hut cost 7 elixir instead of 6, Rage had no damage but much higher radius, Tornado had lesser AoE I believe, but it channeled units to the center of itself more slowly but also more powerfully, Baloon had higher damage per hit, but lesser attack speed, Executioner's icon looked different, The Miner and the Log did considerably more dmg to king towers, the Night Witch and the Megaknight were super OP at their respective releases, Sparky was really a trash can with a very slow load time, which has been subsquently reduced, Arrows would do full damage straight away, unlike how it currently is with layers of damage. The old king emojis, old card prices. I remember how excited everyone was when 2v2 was added to the game for July 2017 exclusively

Also, Skeleton army used to spawn 21 skeletons and cost 4 elixir. The skeletons would be the level of the skeleton army card, which at the time epics were 5 levels lower than commons.

I think they should add xbow hitting air back, not only will it be more kf a defense building, but opponent can finally tank with air.
And it would become an even worse win condition since air troops could take its aggro
