There was a bug that if you cancelled your battle multiple times, it will automatically put you with a bot. A bot is someone who has a real name (Joe, Mike, etc.), isn't in any clan and plays really bad. I'm not sure if it's fixed, but I used it in another account that I abandoned a long time ago, and it worked.
Bots are actually a real thing in the game because if you see a normal name you are battling against (their name is mostly like “Ryan” “Joe” “Timmy” something like that and they have no clan so I am pretty sure bots exist)

Here's another way. I have been banned for 5 years now because when I got a new phone I couldn't remember my login. Supercell asked me where I was when I downloaded the game and I couldn't remember.

I always get one hour banned from playing 2V2 because my ally is either toxic, either an idiot, or just leaves and, well, I’m not gonna play a game alone against two players probably spamming emotes thinking they’re super strong winning a 2V1. Seriously though, 2V2 is super toxic.

But I wouldn't consider harmless mods like this on private servers a "surefire way" of getting banned, since of course, they aren't on the official servers, Supercell are physically incapable of banning you unless they can trace you back to your real account, but also as mentioned, this is all harmless stuff, they don't really care. The type of hacks/mods they really care about are those that impact the actual game, like that guy who cheated his way to the top of the leaderboards via ddoss; due to the way the battle system works in CR; there is no other way to actually cheat the game.
I feel like I've run into bots because a lot of people I matched up with put 3 skeletons, a knight, some archors, and didn't even use the log correctly, and I keep noticing the same pattern
Supercell needs to add this feature.
If your 2v2 teammate leaves the match, you can control their and your deck at the same time.
Or the game gives you double elixir

I didnt get banned for 10 and 13. I didnt use hacks for bots. There was a bot glitch, and I pushed my friends account to 4000
