  • Fred Haise was the lunar module pilot for Apollo 13. After launch on April 11, 1970, together with commander Jim Lovell and command module pilot Jack Swigert, the crew set out for what should have been the third lunar landing.
A little over 55 hours into the flight, an explosion in the service module meant a lunar landing was out of the question. Instead, all attention was focused on the question of how to get back to Earth alive.
In this lecture Fred Haise tells about his real life experience, and also about how it was portrayed in the movie "Apollo 13".
He also goes into his later career at NASA, including his trial flights on the space shuttle Enterprise.
My apologies for the sloppy camera work at the moment I get to ask a question about him being the EVA-2 capcom for Apollo 14.
