Great video! You can definitely see the passion he has for game development! Rimworld is one of those games that I cant express my love for.. I'm now at 1.2K hours and still playing it. I simply cannot get enough of it.
Kinda shows he knows what he's talking about in that book when he lands such a banger. You know you've struck gold when the playtesters refuse to leave your house.
Great video! Very nice storytelling with solid research. This is the exact kind of content I look forward to watch. I'm happy that the yt algorithm suggested your channel.
Hey Alexandre! I'm glad the algorithm brought your awesome feedback! I'm taking a little longer with the next video, but I'm going to work even harder on it! Happy to have you as part of the hidden community 😎😂
Excellent video! You really did your research and it shows! I interviewed him on a podcast I used to do and I really think I missed the opportunity to ask better/more interesting questions regarding his prior experiences before Rimworld.
As for the simulation of real world and the moral outrage: Yes, he _did_ use real world data for sexuality. Sure, probably biased around modern Western culture just as the real world reasearch was. He could have just picked the data from Tinder, which basically matches as this (for heterosexuals, same geneder interest might differ): Younger women find older guys more attractive (by 4-5 years margin or so). Older women want their flings to be 5-10 years younger than them. However, for males it is quite simple: If she is between 20 and 25 she is attractive, regardless of his age. Imagine conding _that_ into the game.
This was a great story to listen to, thank you! So Sylvester did all this without formal training in game design? Also I'm interested in hearing about the controversy at the end, I was wondering if you would link the article written and/or the reddit post clearing his name? Thanks again for the video!
So Tynan did Attend Concordia Univ for computer science but in terms of game design, from all that I've found, he is entirely self taught through experimenting and being heavily involved in the modding and level designing community. I do have the links to all articles, including the controversy in the bottom of the description. Let me know if there is something wrong with the link or format and I'd be happy to change it. Thanks sooo much for watching and I'm incredibly happy that you enjoyed it. Looking to get the next video out by the weekend.
Surprised such a quality and well-researched video has such few views, good work on this man!
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found my hidden channel haha 🤣

Funny that rimworld started as a ship building, and now there is a pretty big mod about ship building and fighting in rimworld.
Good work man! Really enjoyed watching till the very end. Keep up the great work
You're awesome! Glad you enjoyed. Next video on TUNIC coming this week.
Dude, Unreal Tournament is one of my most beloved games and i had no idea that Tynan was a modder back then. Im honestly suprised!

I love how Rimworld was a successful Kickstarter without stretch goals. Keep it simple, stick to the budget.

Absolutely! You're welcome
Very very good video :)
Thanks so much!
14:30 Oh no ! Patient zero of the Rimworld plague !
❤
You are anti charisma.
Honestly, Tynan isn't that good of a game designer, Rimworld is a boring ass game that needs 1000 mods to even make remotely enjoyable
