- My finances as an international student living in the dorms at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan!
I made a mistake when making the video, so I wanted to put the corrected list below. All figures are in Japanese Yen:
-Rent: 18,500 + 4,500 fee (internet 3,300) = 26,300
-Power: ~5,000
-Water: ~3,500
-Insurance: 1,700
-Food: ~1,500/day → 45,000
-Travel: ~5,000
-Fun: ~10,000
------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL: 96,500

Thanks for the videos as always man. Going to apply here as my target next year for the CS program. Fingers crossed, looks like a sick place.
Happy to provide! Good luck with the application, I'm sure you'll make it in! You'll love it here if you get the chance!
Thanks bro 😊🙂
Of course, thank you for watching! 😁
Thank you, i’m visiting fukuoka this summer i can’t wait!!
You're going to love it! The beaches here and the cafes are great as well! You should absolutely try the salt pudding in Itoshima! Its a place right on the coast, so you get to eat delicious food and watch the waves crash along the shoreline! Honestly, all of Itoshima is great! haha Enjoy your trip!
@@JakeyInJapan Thank you so much for that recommendation, will definitely check it out! Sooo excited :)
@@YTashangel Awesome!! Have fun!!! :)
very helpful video and I look forward to the next one 😁
Thank you so much! I'll continue to do my best!
God bless this channel, it really helps to relieve stress before going to Kyushu University!
Awh, thank you so much! I am glad that my videos can be of some help to you! Please let me know if there are any other aspects about Kyushu University that you might want explored in a video!
@@JakeyInJapan actually yes, I was wondering what extracurricular activities are there? Like how to access a gym? Is there a boxing club? (This one is very important lol) Are extracurricular activities free? etc. Would be great to see it in one of your next videos!
@@diable9194 The gym is pretty easy to access, and I go almost every day! The hours are pretty short, from like 12-9 on weekdays and until 5 on weekends, I think. Dont quote me on that, but I usually like to go really late or really early, so the hours arent the best for me. There are SO MANY clubs, so I am sure there is a boxing club of some kind here. And, some are free, some have fees, so it really depends on which one you choose, to be honest. I actually have done some clubs myself, so I will indeed make a video on that! I will put the list of clubs below! MAKE SURE TO PRACTICE YOUR JAPANESE!!! Bascially every club is entirely in Japanese, but there are some international ones. It's WAY better to join a Japanese club in my opinion because the range is way wider, and you get to practice speaking as well!

@@JakeyInJapan thanks mate, I'll ask more questions later on (if I have any) in you comments if you don't mind
@@diable9194 Please do! I want to help as much as I can! I won't be at Kyushu University for too much longer, so I want to maek sure I can get the content out while I am still able!
Nice video man. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to meet you next semester.
Thank you so much! Unfortunately, my program will be finished by then, but I know you'll have a great time here!
@@JakeyInJapan that's too bad! But thanks for your channel. I wish you all the best.
@@amansharma2870 Yeah, it's a shame... But I'm glad I could be of some help! I wish you all the best as well!
Super helpful
Happy to hear that! Please let me know if you have any questions!
nice video, could make a video on how to exchange unis, maybe ur experience. (prolly got this vid request couple times) im also in engineering and my school has kyushu uni partner but idk how to exchange lol
Thank you! Funnily enough, I am already working on both of these videos! I am going to cover both the exchange side of Kyushu University as well as the full-time international student side. I get a fair few questions from folks asking about the application process, so I asked a friend of mine to help sort out the information and process! I'll try to get the video out soon so I can help you out! Thanks for the support!
Very helpful info, can you make a video on how to apply to Kyushu University?
Thank you! Sure! I have gotten this question a few times, so I think a video on this topic would be helpful for many people! Thank you for the suggestion!
hey jakey ! is there a part time culture in kyushu? how hard is it to get a part time job as an international student? is the total pay sufficient to survive a month with minimal expenses?
Hello! Yes, many many people, both Japanese and international students, have part-time jobs! The pay is roughly 1000 yen per hour, and I think it is quite simple to get a job as well! As for if it is enough, I would say probably so! The biggest expense for me is food, and I also made a video on how to save money on that too! As I have been over here, I have gotten better at saving/budgeting. I think you would be able to do the same and live decently off of your part-time wages!
@@JakeyInJapanoh thats great to hear ! do i need a certain level of japanese for these part time jobs? what do you think , can someone manage studies and part time job together ? i think id have to sacrifice some of my extracurricular stuff as i heard engineering courses can get pretty hectic as the time goes on? do you see peope with part time jobs attenting clubs and extracurricular? sorry for asking so many questions . i know you only have a week or two left at kyudai hope you enjoy your time
There are plenty of teaching jobs you can take where you don't need any Japanese at all! You will mostly teach younger kids, but if you're okay with that, then I think it's a great opportunity! Many many people have part time jobs in addition to clubs, but it will make you extremely busy, so think about whether that's something you're okay with. Honestly, the engineering courses aren't so bad until you get to exam week. You don't have much (if any) homework, so you have a crazy exam at the end of each quarter.
Don't feel bad about asking questions! It's why I made the channel! And thank you! I will do what I can to enjoy every last bit :)
Hi! Are there bike shops near the campus? I am wondering where you got your bike! I might get one too when I study at Kyudai!!
Yes! I actually bought my bike from a popular bike store called Pallette! There are also many places to buy bikes around here, so perhaps I'll make a video on what to do when you buy a bike! It's a question I've gotten a couple times, so maybe it would be helpful to do that!
@@JakeyInJapan That would be great! Thank you so much!
Hi Jakey! It's me Dina from Indonesia. I would like to know more about Kyushu Uni.. may I have your contact? Just fyi, tommorow I will have my trip to Fukuoka. Thank you in advance.
Hey Dina! I would be happy to answer any questions you have! Please reach out to me by my email m4stealth.yt@gmail.com. We can exchange further contact information there if you'd like! Have fun on your trip and enjoy Fukuoka!
oh jakey,,, its all over the screen.,
Bro, what are you doing here lmao
Hey! Can you make a video on the application process on Kyushu University without any help from agency? What are the requirements for Masters?
TIA🤍
I am actually currently working with a friend of mine to make a video on the application process, so the video should be out soon! As for the requirements for masters, I am not sure. I am only a temporary exchange student, so I unfortunately don't get to interact with all departments. Take a look at this link, and there should be some good information there with people whom you can contact if you have further questions!
