Doug Helvering reckons the time signature on the verses is 33/16. Who am I to argue? The drum sound you like is a Tabla (Indian) sound patch. Great reaction!
The Drumeo video of Mike Portnoy trying to figure out the timing was awesome to watch. I'm not sure what style the Octopus has but Neil, John Bonham and BILL F'N WARD are all jazz based drummers which is mind blowing to me..
I've always been told piano is a percussion instrument. So I guess us drummers and pianists have an assumable relationship. Btw. ...the time signatures are done like a paradiddle. 6 6 5 6 5 5 R R L R L L
Danny has played several times with the remaining members of Rush in various tribute concerts since the passing of Neil Peart. They have very similar playing styles as Danny was heavily influenced by Neil.
Fan: What time signatures did you use?
Danny: All of them.
"Yes"
Saw it twice live in November. Perfection even live
I'm captivated by his mastery of time & dynamics.
Can we talk about the posture of Danny while sitting and also the fact that he’s not even looking at the drum kit.
With all the accolades Danny has received, at the time of this recording he was close to 60yrs old .
"I'm captivated by his biceps..."
Same, dude, SAME. 😂
Man's pretty ripped :D

It is said that Danny Carey made a deal with the devil!!! to this day, it is unknown what Danny received, but the devil received drum lessons

Neil Peart, John Bonham and Danny Carey are the 3 drummers i wish i could be compared to!
Next drum video has to be John Bonham doing Moby Dick live at The Albert Hall 1970... absolutely amazing!
I've heard many times that the Temple of the song is 4/8 time
Why do everybody tries to count out the time singnature? It is the matter of just feeling the groove. Just listen and learn it by feeling it.
Neil was great, but Danny is the goat
