Bruv... it takes guts and sacrifice to continue to film this to educate people whilst forsaking the requirements to make a straightforward job so tricky. The fact you had to run downstairs to isolate the mains whilst having no means to control the situation and still continue to film... I salute you... 99% of us.. me included would of after the 1st attempt, thought sod it... I'll use both hands to do it then film and explain.. Your a star brother... Thank you.👍🏾
A very brave video...with phone in one hand and the job in other ..running down the staircase and dealing with a leak on a new fitted plate...really helpful video. Any more you have how to change diverter valve and prv on these
I do this every 2 years but isolate the water from in the kitchen and drain. I use Knockout industrial strength liquid unblocker that does the trick and gets it clean after leaving overnight.Never had to replace the unit.
@@mendyourhome I changed a hx plate on a Worcester greenstar erp, I drained the heating system, hot and cold taps and took out the pressure from the Expansion vessel and isolated return, flow and cold under the boiler. When I opened the screw on the hx plate, quite a lot of water was still coming out, so I let it drain out slowly as I didn't want the water to damage any other parts, ESP the electrics. What could I have done differenly to make sure all the water is out regardless of which boiler is being worked on? Thanks.
What would be an acceptable price for this job? I've got the exact same boiler and the same issue. Not covered by boiler plan as limescale buildup (hard water area)
Hi there just a quick one what was the reason you changed the plate heat exchanger I have a l3 fault on my boiler and I get next to no flow with 2 taps running I’m assuming the plate heat exchanger is blocked
Can't you just shut the mains off at the boiler with the cold feed valve that's under the boiler that's how I isolate ideals normally that way would off saved you running outside
I couldn't isolate as normal. I might of explained it in the video, either it didn't work or wasn't an isolation. 😂 But thanks for the comment. I'd appreciate a sub. I have loads more videos also heat pump install coming soon
This is a secondary heat exchanger. It's likely to be blocked on the domestic hot water side which is caused by lime scale and other minerals from poor water quality ie hard water coming on from the mains although It can still be blocked on the heat side from sludge as a magnetic filter will not catch everything.
Magnetic filters mainly capture magnetic particles, but not everything. Also this is a plate heat exchanger limescale is a common culprit on the hot water side being blocked. Because the plates are so tightly crammed in it not 1 blockage it's a slow build up over time, like a Dam that keep collecting more debris.
@mendyourhome The boiler guy has checked the diverter valve by adjusting flow to check but has not taken it apart. So far, new plate heat exchanger fitted, checked turbine, replaced fan, gas valve, switches, and checked gas flow rate at gas meter. The hot water dial is at max hot, but we are only getting lukewarm water from taps. CH radiators are piping hot. No fault codes appearing on boiler.
Why didn’t you isolate it under the boiler also could of just cleaned that plate out if it was blocked with acid unless it’s split in which case pressure would of risen on gauge
Mate the filling loop is the isolation keep the return shut and open the cold it isolates the flow into boiler it’s a 3way valve type are you a new engineer fumbled around abit if your flows getting hot it’s a diverter issue nothing to do with a plate please don’t give wrong info to people on here so there fucking around with their boilers

I appreciate it, hopefully 1 day I'll improve and be up there with top TH-cam boys 😂 thanks
Well done matey working on boilers is nothing but a challenge these days
Great you showed us what can go wrong and how to fix it!

I can’t see , you rubbed enough silicone on those washers, apart from anything else, it’s spot on , brother 😂
Thanks for sharing
Could you not have isolated cold under boiler?
No it couldn't

Top video buddy
Thanks 👍 sub for more

I dont uderstand why you did,nt isolate the cold main under the boiler?
Can't recall didn't work or wasn't installed I think it was bodged in
very good explanation 👏
Thanks for the support
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for the real time information.👍
What grease silicone do you use?
1) servisol Silicone Grease 2) Regin Silicone Grease 3) Polypipe silicone grease (this 1 i also use for some plumbing)

Whats next if plate heat exchanger has be cleaned or renewed but still no hot water and no fault codes appearing.
Diverter valve

older boilers say ZJ think this one manufactured in 2004 installed in 2012 heat exchanger cracked in 2024 11 year old.
5:09 to skip drain down and straight to removing the parts.

It was year ago, but i believe they didn't work or hadn't been fitted

Dirt in the siphon water trap isnt indication of dirt in the heating system as it is only condensate and products of combustion.
That looks brand new so didn't have a power flush...
Maybe or not well maintained
Sink tap is nicely sealed to the worktop. SMH………..I know that wasn’t you.
The system needed flushing badly. It will block again and expansion 1bar. dangerous.
first drain the water then open hot plate
