I love the contrast between this one and the original. One is Mettaton fighting for the sake of his people. This time, it's personal. Last time was not the last time they would meet. Mettaton couldn't stand his people not being safe or free, so he didn't accept his defeat. Now, it's not him standing between you and his people; it's him dancing with you until one of you drops. And he's going to make sure that the person that the person who can rise from out of the flames is him.
I’m loving the lyric differences between this one and the previous NEO song you did! In the previous one, MTT echoed lyrics from Undyne and the song is more of MTT/the whole underground’s last stand against the human. Truly the song that would fit the final boss battle between the regular monsters and Sans. The og NEO encounter is also the last chance for the player to abort the genocide run, since if you spare MTT here, you unlock the King MTT Neutral Ending. But if you don’t, it’s really the encounter that solidifies you as the true horror, not the monsters. The previous NEO song is a ballad of stalling. “With every second, we save another life”, “real heroes never fear, real heroes laugh at death”, “smile, it’s closing night”, the entire song is MTT’s acceptance of his duty as the final protector of the underground But this version is more hopeful, and while still an unfinished mix, and is more self-centered. MTT’s bragging about his skills, his might, and how sure he is in his victory. There’s no audience cheering him on because he’s past that. This NEO song is about how MTT is a human eradication robot first and foremost, designed to slaughter humans and known for its high defense. This isn’t the song of a martyr, this is the song of a duty that is going to be fulfilled one way or another Wonderful composition, even for an unfinished mix! If you ever do finish this NEO song, i just know it’ll be amazing!!
You can't spare Mettaton NEO. If you kill Undyne the Undying, then Mettaton is guaranteed to die even if you don't kill anyone in Hotland (although I'm don't know if you can spare the Royal Guards).

Saw a new Undertale song from MOTI, yelped so high it was more like a squeak, came to listen, went 'huh, did they just do an unfinished-sounding Power of NEO as a Songtober gag?', and then at the same time I read 'Mettaton singing his new(ish) song'- 'You know what? Let's try something new!' Theeeeere it is.

I admit it’s hard to take your word with you saying you put in ‘minimal effort’ based on how this sounds. Like what else could you add exactly if this was the voted song, a whole animation?? It could absolutely be improved, though yes this one has more polish than the rest. The vocal effects and editing could ofcourse be better, but if they want to go for even more then they could change the second verse to have new lyrics instead of just repeated ones.
This is an absolute banger! The performance is amazing and the lyrics are so good! Using the joke from Spamton “neo is known for its high defense” was hilarious. “Fate is on my side” is a tragic line, not even just because of the fact mettaton neo gets oneshot, but even assuming this is an au where he gets an ultra-hard bombastic boss fight, the scary thing about the genocide run is that fate is on the villains side, and every hero, no matter how strong is doomed to fall.
@ True, that’s the only win condition any monster has. Sans knew that, so he tried to be as infuriating as possible; some people have certainly rage quit to sans, but I’ve also heard of people that do genocide just to fight him, so it kinda backfired.

Every time Flowey uses an unavoidable attack pattern to kill you, others intervene to save you so the game can continue, when Asriel shoots an infinitely powerful blast of pure rainbow energy at you and no one is around to help you, you simply become invincible and go down to decimals of health but cannot be killed, you literally can face tank and infinitely powerful laser from a god if that’s what’s required to finish the game. When Sans slams you into the walls of the battle box to damage you in a way you can’t avoid, it will only ever bring you to 1 hp, if you’re already at 1 hp the slams will do no damage because Sans cannot kill you with an attack unless you can dodge it, because that would make the game unwinnable, and when Sans uses his special attack to prevent you from getting a turn to attack, you suddenly out of nowhere manifest the ability to push the battle box and select a menu option outside of your turn. It is impossible for a character inside Undertale to render the game unplayable, your plot armor is too strong to allow that. An enemy will either use attacks you can dodge with enough skill, or you will survive through inexplicable circumstances and continue the game. Fangames can and have subverted this, but in Toby Fox’s Undertale I believe this is a fundamental rule of the world.

I love that the voice filter is so much rougher here, his voice jumps and glitches like he’s using way more power than Alphys ever intended to stay alive. Also, I love the way how, at the end, his voice gets even more tinny and distant, implying that (going with my interpretation) he overloaded the new form and shut down.
For some reason this song now gave me the idea for a fight against Mettaton where he absorbs the human souls. Honestly surprised that it hasn't been done before. (or at least I haven't seen it before.)

The closest thing I can think of blookey's that sounds like this is when mtt says "death is on your hands" (it's 3 seconds after what you said but that's the closest thing I found) which is a similar thing toriel says in the genocide route song "powder's on your hands" (and blookey's singing as back voices I think)

Original song literally helped me to survive through the hardest period in my life. It was 2021, I just discovered UNDERTALE for myself (idk, how I lived 20 years and never heard about this ADORABLE game). I was watching walkthrough on "genocide route", when I heard "Power of NEO". I browsed it to add in my playlist, and first "Power of NEO" in search list was by Man on the Internet. And since then..there was no turning back) Sad that I found it same year when was suffering because of my dad's incurable sickness... A huge amount of things changed since then, several times I was suffering even more (war y'know..), but that song always was playing on repeat in my heart. Still sincerely love this motivating dynamic piece of energy with aftertaste of sadness. I even asked Ukrainian coverists to make cover on it with Ukrainian lyrics (my homeland is Ukraine). Thank you all for it! P. S. Someday I will be able support you financially. Someday.. I'm not able to plan that far unfortunately(

What I love about this unfinished version is that Toby included at least one more leitmotif of BAaTH: the bass line. Listen closely and you can hear a variation of it
Never clicked so fast! OMG! THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME! Edit: It is indeed awesome! I like to think about it as some form of genocide surprise. The player succeeded in their goal and now only floats in the darkness, to remain victor forever. Then they hear this boss music and the *Black Hole* of the underground appears! (One tiny problem, imo there was too much voice effect, but this could easily be METTATON malfuctioning)

I love that the voice filter is so much rougher here, his voice jumps and glitches like he’s using way more power than Alphys ever intended to stay alive. Also, I love the way how, at the end, his voice gets even more tinny and distant, implying that (going with my interpretation) he overloaded the new form and shut down.
For some reason this song now gave me the idea for a fight against Mettaton where he absorbs the human souls. Honestly surprised that it hasn't been done before. (or at least I haven't seen it before.)

The closest thing I can think of blookey's that sounds like this is when mtt says "death is on your hands" (it's 3 seconds after what you said but that's the closest thing I found) which is a similar thing toriel says in the genocide route song "powder's on your hands" (and blookey's singing as back voices I think)

This song was my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE in the Genocide Package, and I was holding out hope since the Deltarune Newsletter that showed this that you'd do the unfinished full version of Power of NEO
I kinda like how the glitching at the end makes it seem like Mettaton NEO is saying “We’ve - finished business” instead of “We’ve unfinished business” That’s a nice touch!

Original song literally helped me to survive through the hardest period in my life. It was 2021, I just discovered UNDERTALE for myself (idk, how I lived 20 years and never heard about this ADORABLE game). I was watching walkthrough on "genocide route", when I heard "Power of NEO". I browsed it to add in my playlist, and first "Power of NEO" in search list was by Man on the Internet. And since then..there was no turning back)
Sad that I found it same year when was suffering because of my dad's incurable sickness... A huge amount of things changed since then, several times I was suffering even more (war y'know..), but that song always was playing on repeat in my heart.
Still sincerely love this motivating dynamic piece of energy with aftertaste of sadness. I even asked Ukrainian coverists to make cover on it with Ukrainian lyrics (my homeland is Ukraine).
Thank you all for it!

Love how some of the lyrics from the original Power of NEO is in this version, yet it still manages to be its own thing. (The old NEO cover being seven years old now really doesn't sit right with me.)
I don't know if you guys will do a Power of Spamton cover, but that would be nice to see, especially with the "don't forget" melody towards the end, mirroring Jevil's. But then again, the lyrics for the freedom motif in both TWR and Big Shot covers don't match up, so what do I know?
