Nice truck regardless of the cosmetics. I was too late to purchase but did have a good conversation with the seller. Would gladly do business in the future.
mine is 1998 , automatic , 204,000 , few dents from grandaughters learning to drive . chrome around wheelwells but paint is fading on hood and roof has rust spots , needs to be repainted , otherwise no rust on rest of vehicle arizona/ california .would'nt hesitate to jump in and drive to florida . just keeps on ticken. I am second owner . your post was great . thanks . . btw I have owned this truck since 2003.Had 43,000 on it never looked back .
I have a 1998 Tacoma with a 5 speed and 4 cylinder. Mine has 224k miles and still runs great. They are indestructible motors and drive train.

Thanks I am looking to buy one and was curious about the required maintenance
maintenance will be CHEAP on one of these....very simple, very economical, not a lot to go wrong. And a timing CHAIN, no belt!
Do you still have the truck.?
Thanks did you ever have to adjust the valves
Yes valve adjustment would be a normal maintenance item every 150K or so I would say.
