Have you had any issues with the final acrylic dry brushing being applied over the oil layers? I used both acrylics and oils in illustration and I have found that applying acrylics over a layer oil paints never seems to work. Then again I suppose wiping away the oils with spirits makes them less of a layer, more of stain on the model.
Nothing special, I use winsor & newton. If i see too much oil comes out ill put a bead of paint on over some cardboard for a minute for hte oil to get absorved before transfering to my pallet
thank you, the basecoat is a mix of sky blue and burnt umber form vallejo model color, first drybrush is pure sky blue and finally wolf grey from game color
How long did you have to wait for the oil layers to dry before working on top of them again? And would you recommend varnishing them before going back in to do final spot highlights with acrylics?
Thats a nice method with oils. But in Reverse if you work with acrylics also start with dark basecoat and then drybrush lighter shades and you get the same/similar result. Everyone has their method to the madness of painting there is no one true answer to "your" style. Remember that people.

correct, over the most raised details the acrylics are more of a "filter" or stain, still, i am working with a very small amout of oil overall
Do you use a special oil for miniatures. i know regular canvas oils have a lot of linseed oil and take a long, long time to dry.

Waited over night to add acrylics over them and i personally dont varnish anything

This is how I do big stuff as well. However I started switching to enamels as they dry faster.
