This is an amazing find and so historically significant to the history of Mopar. I hope they can get the other RTS cars together for a photoshoot with this one, reunite all of them.
So great to be able to hear from the man that actually built it , among other significant specialty cars. He's living automotive history. Thanks for posting.
For all of you who are wondering. This was my father’s car, it sat in his garage and was sold last month. New owners are having it auctioned off at the Mecum Auction in Indy next month.
I saw that car in a magazine when I was a kid. I can't believe it still exists. It would fetch over a million on auction today. Notice how the grille looks so much like the challengers and the banshee today. Hmmmm
Outstanding! It would be awesome to see all the cars reunited for a photo shoot. I had no idea the same gentleman was involved with the Rambler Scrambler and Hurst Olds. He needs to write a book!
I remember when Steven Juliano called me back around 2005/2006 when the guy wouldn't sell. He went there with $225K in cash, which at that time would've made it the most expensive E-body sale, and the guy refused to sell. Crying shame Steven had all the others and this one remained locked away. Hopefully it can be reunited with the other RTS cars. (Randy with MCG btw). Great video.
I loved those days looking at the hotrod magazines and seeing these phycodelic paint jobs and crazy scoops and spoilers. I collected a lot of them as Hot wheels cars. Man I miss the 70,s.
WANT! So cool, such a 70's paint job. I worked at Mattel in Hot Wheels with Larry Wood for 30 years. Harry Bradley did all the original Hot Wheels designs circa 1967, then left and Larry took over as lead designer until he just recently retired at 80! I met Harry twice, such a cool fellow. Chuck is also an amazing car guy. Love his old stories about the car.
It's really too bad that my friend Steven was never able to get the 'Cuda to complete the set before he passed away. I know it was one of his greatest goals for his collection but he never wanted to talk about it. He knew who owned it for many years. Now his collection is split up and who knows if the RTS cars will be all together again.
I am also sad Steve never got to add this car to his collection. He did know exactly where it was and tried a few times to buy it so it was not really "lost". Steve not only had the ultimate Mopar collection of cars but also memorabilia. So sad the collection was broken up when he passed.
This is a historic car. It can't be touched...no repaints/modifications/updates...blah blah blah. It is one of ONE! It's great that its still in one piece, and not scrapped, like alot of these show cars were back then. My dad worked at Chrysler during this time period, at Highland Park...I was only 6 or 7 but I think I remember seeing this car ( in it's current paint scheme) around late '71? BTW... that mall in the video...we went there quite a bit back then...my mom loved going to Hudson's to shop. I liked getting a hot pretzel 🥨 and an orange Julius inside the mall..yum!
There was a guy that lived near my old neighborhood named Steven Juliano, who had been looking for this car for years. He ended up acquiring most of the RTS cars. I'm surprised he never found this, being that it was close to where the RTS Duster was found. I'm happy that the car was saved and preserved .Sadly, Steven passed away a few years ago. This video would have made his day.
Pretty historic find. I hope whoever buys it displays it at some major shows like MCACN, Carlisle and Moparty instead of just hiding it away in their private stash!
Holy crap, it really does still exist!! I sure wish Steven Juliano was able to put that into his RTS collection before he passed. Thanks for the great video!
I was raised in Detroit. I saw these cars in the late seventies on both sides of town. The ‘Cuda was spotted one winter at Northland Shopping Mall. The Duster & ‘Cuda were spotted at an east side police precincts parking lot numerous times. The drool factor was & still is high.
Wow, the Guy that had the other RTS cars had passed away, he woulda been proud to see this 'Cuda, that's right, his name was Steve Juliano!!! Great find, please restore it as a RTS circuit car!!! Mopar Nate, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
I love stories like this....the colors on this car are so cool. I was 6 years old when this car was built. My dad had a Cutlass convertible we used to go to the beach in.
I'm a scrambler fan and i went "holy crap" when he mentioned the scrambler. I was driving in a random neighborhood in san diego back in 1976 and saw a scrambler in person the first time. Had to stop the car and took a picture of it. It looked like the guy was an offroader. He had 4x4's parked on his lawn too and the scrambler looked like it had been offroad. I think i read later that there was a scrambler in the baja 100 or some off road race in baja.
Thank you @AutoArchaeology for documenting this car and ALL the other cars from this glorious era that you have preserved on film. Please keep doing what you do!!
Ive been following this story since reading up on the RTS cars. And i wondered myself what happened to this car..Now i finally have a book end to the story. I personally hope and pray that who ever ends up with this rare piece of Americana will do the right thing with it. Would love to see it with the rest of RTS gang back together again. I'm sure "Steve" is somewhere in the mist smiling that "his" dream and efforts were not for a loss but for a huge save! If i were a lucky man i would buy this car and have it put back just the way it was. No penny would be spared. I might have to call Coker for a favor on the tires and the guy from American Restoration to restore the "shakerbox" to perfect working order. Prosperity is the name of the game when it comes to cars like this. Thank You so much for sharing!!
This just blows my mind I am 72 years old from connersville indiana I remember these cars and this stuff so well I had forgottin all this stuff great video man just great thanks for showing
This paint job screams 70s I love it I swear I feel like I lived in a pass life in the 70s when I see cars and other things from that era I can see this exact paint job on a van with a diamond or heart shaped window on the side😁 there is a reason why they brought back all the 70s style muscle cars today 🤌🏼
This is the coolest video. I loved hearing the stories from Chuck Miller, amazing creator of some of the coolest muscle cars in history. I love the look of the Cuda's paint it really captured the era. I wish there was pics of the previous paint job.
I bought a used 340 Cuda in 1977 for $2200 and a guy with a purple 426 'Cuda tried to sell me his for $6000 which was way more than I could afford in my teens. Probably for the best as i drove way to fast back then.
Absolutely phenomenal!! Fascinating seeing the interior because that is as close to "off the show room floor" as it gets so educational to see how it all looks to compare to a restored or refreshed car using quality reproductions.
I couldn't afford the gas on a 74 Chrysler NYer440 engine and I was thinking maybe the six pack meant a six cylinder. That's about what I know about muscle cars, what a death trap,no wonder the milage is so low.Love the paint job though.
I respected Steve Juliano and his collection...And it was cool to see his cars in different magazines all through the years.....But I am glad he didn't aquire this Cuda....Just because you have money doesn't mean you get everything you want in life.....Plus,after Steve died they sold all of his cars anyway.......This Cuda would've been sold too....All for the mighty dollar.....Thankfully Tony bought it in "76 and kept it all these years.......Steve Juliano has come and gone and Tony still kept this Cuda up until now.👍👍👍
Such a amazing find and such a amazing piece of history !!! Thank u for showing us and putting in so much effort to explain everything about in such great details!!!
Well, I appreciate the video and to hear from Chuck Miller who was so involved with the car back when it was first created was truly awesome. I am so glad to come across this video. Thank you.
I was up close and Personal when that car toured both in 70 and 71 in Green Bay, Wisconsin ant the House of Ryan Plymoth dealership which is still in Business today!
All the negative comments by people with no appreciation of American culture and history. This is truly amazing. Im from the uk and old fords are resurfacing especially RS cosworths and are selling for eye watering money. If i was rich i would pay 2 million for this
i remember looking at these Cuda s at Dallas autorama in the early 70s i think i have autorama book with the sonic Cuda picture ,,,still have my 1st car 67 gto and my 2nd car 1970 440 6 pack purple Cuda ,Life was more fun then love the memories car give us
Tbe image of that Cuda parked nearby one of our late Hudson's department stores had a black with white letters/numbers Michigan plate against its windshield. That plate was first issued in 1978, so that car couldn't have possibly been stored since 1976...as our red-white & blue Bicentennial plates were being used for 2 years prior (1976-77).
I feel like i had a model kitof this car. Could be wrong, but the scallops, and faded yellow/red paint looks damn familiar. Don't remember that nose scoop tho. Amazing piece of history.
Chuck is a great guy! Got to know him at the Supernationals Shows in Albuquerque years ago. I have a bottle of his Red Baron wine autographed. Cool car, thanks for the coverage.
Cat prints and poop is small potatoes because the cat probably kept mice and rats from doing real damage.
Yup, cats do good work.
Excellent point mice know their meat when felines don’t retreat
Couldn’t have said it better myself
I have an 85 gt stang that one winter rats ate my seats and wiring harness. Cost me 2k to fix it. That cat saved that car
I concur…..
This is an amazing find and so historically significant to the history of Mopar. I hope they can get the other RTS cars together for a photoshoot with this one, reunite all of them.
That would be nice.
So great to be able to hear from the man that actually built it , among other significant specialty cars. He's living automotive history. Thanks for posting.
Absolutely!
Chucks workmanship and creativeness is phenomenal! His creations were ahead of their time and a time treasure for sure! Thanks for shooting this
Absolutely
They sure were. You see those clear tail lights they put on these? I thought that came out in the 2000s nope.
I've never seen a vintage car so beautiful it made me cry, this car changed that
Hell yeah, I've been waiting since I was a kid to see this car again!
For all of you who are wondering. This was my father’s car, it sat in his garage and was sold last month. New owners are having it auctioned off at the Mecum Auction in Indy next month.
Awesome.. are u in indy
Nobody was wondering
@@nukedukem1 you just sound like one of those miserable people who is missing the chat rooms from 30 years ago
Shame you had to sell it
proof?
Such a great design. Love the paint (both versions) the nose, the taillights. The creativity in the 60"s and early 70's was amazing.
I saw that car in a magazine when I was a kid. I can't believe it still exists. It would fetch over a million on auction today. Notice how the grille looks so much like the challengers and the banshee today. Hmmmm
It's a car flippers dream car
Outstanding! It would be awesome to see all the cars reunited for a photo shoot. I had no idea the same gentleman was involved with the Rambler Scrambler and Hurst Olds. He needs to write a book!
I agree on all points.
What a great piece of history. She needs to be put into a museum.

Hey Randy!
It's a crying shame that collection got broken up instead of in a museum.
Numerous E body Hemi cars sold before then for much more than $225k. I hauled one for a guy in 1999 from Dallas to LA area.
I loved those days looking at the hotrod magazines and seeing these phycodelic paint jobs and crazy scoops and spoilers. I collected a lot of them as Hot wheels cars. Man I miss the 70,s.

Yup, unfortunately. Steve was a friend and at least he had the three.
I’m surprised as well. I remember seeing Steven’s collection. He had the road runner as well if I remember correctly. 😀
He found it but my father Tony wouldn’t sell it. I still have letters from Steven inquiring about purchasing it.
Nice story...
W0W! I'm blown away! Truly an amazing piece of Mopar history! Thank you for all your time, work and effort for this incredible video!!!
Pretty historic find. I hope whoever buys it displays it at some major shows like MCACN, Carlisle and Moparty instead of just hiding it away in their private stash!
Too many cool cars wasting away in "collections". Drive the damn thing! Maybe not in rush hour traffic but take it to the country and drive it.
Holy crap, it really does still exist!! I sure wish Steven Juliano was able to put that into his RTS collection before he passed. Thanks for the great video!
I'm not a car guy at all but DAMN that paint job is killer.
At a minimum, this is a car that will bring a million. Likely more. Good to see it's still around.
WOW!!...you cant any more 70's than this. A genuine time capsule.
Really, these exact cars?
Thank God for garages, barns, sheds, tractor trailer boxes, shipping containers and tarps. :-)
*The paint job is awesome. This car is a real collectors treasure!*
It belongs in a museum
What an absolute time capsule! These were the icons of my youth and this one is a gem!

What a great story, and from the Builder. They are a dying breed.
Great to hear the story from those who built the car. Great story.
Arguably the best looking of the Rapid Transit group.
What an awesome survivor story!
Thankyou for documenting it.
I would just clean the car, feed the leather and do fluids and tyres.
Wow its such a treat to see who built the Sonic and RTS cuds's I fell in love with'em the first time I saw them. Thanks for this video!
That car is Amazing and deserves to be in the sunlight I Love it ! Thanks for the peek .
Thank you for this content. Let's keep these memories alive and preserved. Many thanks.
I have NEVER seen a cuda like that wow! I had a 72 340 ralleye long ago.
Thank you for the history lesson. Documenting this era is important.
Love this car!!!
So awesome he was able to work with the big companies and make these customs.
I have never heard of this car. What a time capsule.
Ty for sharing this.
It’s a full size matchbox car! 😎👍🏼🇺🇸🍺
What a fascinating piece of automotive history!
900 miles the hard way, A quarter mile at a time. Glad it survived in such great shape.

There was some in the video, and a ton online. I just didn't have rights to them.
I love it. What a time piece and a great story. The paint job is so cool.
This was a superb video!!! Amazing story. Looking forward to the green challenger videos!
Thank you! Once the weather gets nice I can knock that one out.
Man what a car and just imagine living in those amazing years of cars each automobile manufacturers have there own special rides

This is one of the most gorgeous/badass and legendary vehicles ever created. Thank you for sharing!
Glad you liked it!
You gotta love old laquer enamel, I'm glad this one was cared for as well. Too many vintage show cars were crushed or lost.
? What? Lawyer and enamel are two different things
Good ol Chuck is still sharp as a tack..legendary.
that paint scheme is so damn beautiful
Absolutely stunning! I remember the wonderful days of 1976!! Sad to have some slight damage from animals, but that happens. Sweet paint job 👍
Makes me think about all the vintage gems still waiting to be found ... I remember when they found the Vette from corvette summer...
That's almost to good to be true, I remember seeing these in promotions back in the '70's, Wow!
Love the car (especially the paint job) and great to hear info from the builder. Nice job on the video and hope to hear the updates you mentioned.
Happy to see this car still exists!
:O wth... its actulay found. Great to see that one is still there and not lost.
I barely comprehend how cool this is.
At first, I thought the stripes were sun faded on the roof. Then I realized it was supposed to be that way. UNDER 1,000 MILES! WoW, what a BEAUTY!
Right?!

That is a beautiful piece of equipment from history I love it it's awesome
Great video! I remember thinking that was one of the coolest cars I’d seen back in the early 70’s. AWSOME era of custom cars!!!
Me too.
That's the most 70"s thing I've seen in a while.
Thank you! I had no idea! The 70s Cudas are my favorite Mopars!

Such a amazing find and such a amazing piece of history !!! Thank u for showing us and putting in so much effort to explain everything about in such great details!!!
I was fortunate to be allowed to do it.
congrats on being the first to show it to the world!
Thank you, technically 2nd. Mecum did their unveiling 15 minutes before me.
Well, I appreciate the video and to hear from Chuck Miller who was so involved with the car back when it was first created was truly awesome. I am so glad to come across this video. Thank you.
Yup, glad you enjoyed it!
Wild design..that was the thing back then for some..wild customs.
Reminds me of the 60s show Mod Squad.
That’s one of the coolest cars I’ve seen.
70s flashback! That is so cool, clean it up and drive it!
I remember in the late 70’s seeing this style paint job on many muscle cars ,I kinda forgot about it until I saw this video …
I was up close and Personal when that car toured both in 70 and 71 in Green Bay, Wisconsin ant the House of Ryan Plymoth dealership which is still in Business today!
That's cool! Any pics?
All the negative comments by people with no appreciation of American culture and history. This is truly amazing. Im from the uk and old fords are resurfacing especially RS cosworths and are selling for eye watering money. If i was rich i would pay 2 million for this
What a piece of history. Excellent video my friend.
Thank you!
The fact that them tires still hold air at least long enough to take this video is amazing
This is the coolest find to date. I appreciate this guy to death. A true piece of american history at its finest.

I saw all the other RTS cars 35 + years ago in Steve’s warehouse. I knew about this Cuda, it was the Holy Grail. Wish he had it.
The holy grail has been found!
Right !
