Underrated sequel, it definitely gets more love these days than at the time, Dutch being left out seemed to be a problem for many who enjoyed the original, but it was never an issue and made sense to me that a completely unrelated group of people would encounter the urban hunter.
Truly some of the best directed action sequences. The first shootout, the train scene, the meat plant, amazing setpieces. Even if Gary Busey's upper half defied gravity.
Thank you for making this video! Many viewers, especially first-time viewers don't realize who the man behind the suit was, just like with the late Bolaji Badejo, who brought the Xenomorph to life.
I’m another person who thinks Dutch being left out makes it a better movie. I think it would have made the movie seem like it takes place in a much smaller world. Hindsight being what it is, including Dutch feels like something better suited to a comics crossover. I did enjoy reading the novelizations/comics of the Predator going after his brother though.
I grew up watching both Pred and Pred 2 so many damn times, then going outside to play pretend I was a soldier (do kids even do this anymore?). Anyway, they were broadcasted edited versions taped off the TV! Predator 2 is filled with cussing, and the TV edit has the most hilarious replacement dubbing. It's unreal, the things coming out of Harrigan's mouth. I think I might still have the tape. And I had a Predator 2 poster, of the Predator standing, taken from a promo image, and all his tech and weapons were labeled. Loved that poster. And I just realized Harrigan's boss, the Captain, was in Farscape as John Crichton's dad. Pretty sure that's him. It's an excellent sequel.
I really like how balanced your views are. Much better journalism than a lot of the stuff you see these days. Thank you for your hard work and research.
I have a definite list of my 4 favourite movies and Predator is one of those, after that, it gets a little fudgy. I LOVE Predator 2 and feel it is almost as good as the first. I will try and keep some comments for Part 2 and stick to the matters in hand. KPH's physicality was amazing, it was powerful and graceful. I felt there was so little wastage with his performance. Even when not fighting, he was balancing, sneaking, moving or operating equipment. Later Predators were bulky and immobile bodybuilders or too CG heavy. Although there was more articulation in the mandibles, it just made them look wiggly toothed rather than having a structural biology to them. I also think that when practical effects were still common, there were some skilled operators. In Prey, the Predator got back to lean mean hunting machine but he was flipping axes and other little things just for flair. I only just noticed with your clip, the small Icon on the Gary Busey / Peter Keyes' tie... it's sort of an Illuminati triangle but the eye is the wrong shape. Someone might recognise it.
KPH was all that and a bag of potato chips in my eyes. I simply hate the sword fight in Predators as the duel is clearly a guy in a bulky suit playing the creature. It shows that true talent can transcend costumes to emote.
Many thanks as usual. Predator 2 was a damn good movie in my book and I've seen it many times. It surprised me just how brutal it was, with none of the lead characters except Danny Glover surviving. If it had been Steven Seagal playing the part they needn't have bothered keeping him alive either lol. On a side note, Fox studios seem to have made some very bad or misguided decisions in the past and your videos have highlighted these. I don't for one moment suppose they are any worse than many others in the same line of business but one wonders sometimes how these studios ever break even, never mind see a profit. Anyway, another good one! More power to you and your team.
I make words all the time, but not in many vids due to pronunciation police always whining in the comment section. Paxton deserved his own word though. I don't care if they give grief over this one.
One of my favourite films and definitely the best Predator film after the first one. Recently I had the good fortune to meet Stephen Hopkins, got friendly, went to his place in London hang out talked art, movies and Predator 2. I also have a full sized City Hunter bust from Coolprops that I repainted myself and took it to Stephen who signed it for me and told me that it looks just like the prop that Stan Winston Studio made. Needless to say what it meant to me. Thanks for the wonderful video, and keep on loving this wonderful movie that has as much heart as six others.
Kevin had the perfect body type and nimbleness to sell the creature's believability. All the others after him looked like bodybuilders who could barely turn their head, let alone go on any kind of hunt.
So that's why the film looked like it was from a cartoon comic and I love that about this amazing sci-fi film. Two of my favourite entertainment films ever are Predators 2 and The Warriors, some of the greatest films ever made. I don't think Predator 2 will ever be bettered again, it's by far the best in the franchise for me as it simply went to another level that will never be reached again.
@@RepresentThis YW, and I just watched it again last night and It never gets old. This film has a soul of it's own, it's alive with life and full of character. Lightening in a bottle for me that can never be captured again.
From what you've said here my view is that Arnold did like the movie but because of time constraints and Cameron flat out telling him if he did Predator 2 he couldn't do T2 he priced Fox out so they would pass on him instead of him having to say no to the project. We could have had Arnold in both T2 and Predator 2 if only Fox could exercise some patience and wait.
I love predator 2. It’s a worthy sequel to the first film in my opinion that has good action, unique setting, a fresh take on the predator and wonderful cast. Alan’s score is better than the first and is my second favourite score. Gary Busey steals every scene he’s in, Danny Glover makes for a good lead since Arnold didn’t want to return and Bill Paxton being in the film is one of the best things to happen for this movie (he also steals every scene he’s in). Predator 2 is on my top 10 movies list along with the first movie.
I loved the first Predator movie, and I watched many, many times over the years. But I remember being very disappointed by Predator 2. One reason was that I thought Danny Glover (which I loved in Lethal Weapon) wasn't very good in it. Also, if I recall, I was not very thrilled by the general story. Seeing on many people here in the comments loved that movie, maybe I should give it another chance, and watch it again.
I've always said there is no wrong way to watch a movie and if you check it out and still don't like it, we would love to have you comment in our later videos. We love different takes, and your thoughts would be great to consider.
I never understood why some people didn’t like this movie. I really enjoyed it the first time I saw it which was around the time it came out in video. I only learned years later that it wasn’t considered a successful film.
I was dissappointed there was no Arnie because Alien always had Sigourney and Die Hard always had Bruce Willis so how could it be that Predator didnt always have Arnie UNLESS it was a cheap sequel. Thats how I saw it and so I when I saw the film in the late 90's I wasnt expecting much. It was OK but not much more.
@@RepresentThis I love your channel and I think that commenting helps it grow so I will always comment even if I have something not too interesting to say! lol.
No argument here. I was told after a pro 2 hour + video deep diving into Alien 3 that my point-by-point analysis was based on personal bias rather than analysis.
Seagal. What a dbag. But it's nice to learn that he's been the same dbag all this time. At least he's consistent. lol. Thank goodness he wasn't in this. Would've made a complete pos. This is an underrated movie in my opinion.
This is the most underrated sequel and my favorite predator movie.
100% agree!

Great video for a rainy Saturday in spooky season, thanks! Appreciate your thorough research. Nice little segal/office tid bid at the end
I did like Predator 2. Looking forward to the next video, thanks again!
Love Predator 2. It's forever in a tussle with the first one for my favorite.
RIP Kevin Peter Hall. ❤❤❤
Thank you for this one.
Been having a bad week with personal stuff. This video out a smile on my face.
Salud.
I'm truly sorry to hear your having a rough time @__K. I hope things get better for you and part 2 will be out next Friday.
Amazing RT. This is how you do it!
This is excellent Predator 2 content!! That film does not get the recognition it deserves!! Thanks.
So glad you liked it, we will have part 2 out in about 6 days. Hope to see your thoughts then as well.
Thank you for making this video! Many viewers, especially first-time viewers don't realize who the man behind the suit was, just like with the late Bolaji Badejo, who brought the Xenomorph to life.
You are so right. That first alien is the most scarry. It was Bolaji's slow methodical movements that was a part of that.
Brilliant ending. Superb work as always.
Thanks so much.

'Paxtonized' - I like it! It gives the impression of a process like 'sanforized' or 'vulcanized'.
