bro 3000cc engine doesn't make a difference, it all depends on the power figures of the car and the weight of the car i.e. HP and torque figures. 2011 Fortuner has 168hp and 343 nm of torque with a weight of 2000kg and 2016 Scorpio has 140hp and 320nm with a weight of 1800 kg. Therefore, power to weight and torque to weight ratios of Scorpio and more than Fortuner. That's why you were feeling a better pick in Scorpio not because of the engine size!!
Engine displacement matters bro. Bigger the engine, better is the low end torque and lesser is the turbo lag. These days, even a 1.4L petrol engine makes 150bhp but the power delivery starts only from the mid. Best example is the old innova. It had only around 99 bhp but the pull was great since the engine was a 2.5L one. I agree on the power to weight ratio but again, tuning of the engine matters a lot. Another examole is that people say the duster 85ps is better than 110ps since the 110ps engine has a great lag and the additional power is felt only in highways.

I have the same vehicle, its power delivery is superb.Turbo lag hai hi nahi is gadi me . You are driving it in congested area so you are not able to feel the power it has. Take it to the highway and then see what happens. This particular varient if tuned beats even endeavour 3.2 by a big margin , low and top end is way more punchier than any vehicle of this size and even beyond.
Power to weight and torque to weight ratio become way higher than Range Rover sports just because it goes 200 bhp and 400 nm torque, almost 1900 kg weight.
Today's generation fortuner is 350 kg heavier and it needs 500 nm torque to get going in automatic. Where as in manual it needs 450nm .
Breaks are the biggest negative in this Vehicle.

Bro, I own a 2011 fortuner 4x4, I can say that it's a very linear power train and also you must have it slow bcoz Scorpio has short gearing whereas Fortuner's is quite tall for eg: 3rd gear goes till 120-130 and all I can say is if you gradually put your foot down it may feel slow, if you slam the pedal to the floor there will be a split second delay bcoz turbo has to spool as it's a variable one but then you will feel the rush of power that it develops and if you keep charging through the same gear, it will increase power as you build the rpm's. that's all from my end but if the car you drove didn't have air filter changed then that may also be an issue.

I have same model, the real reason you cannot feel the power delivery is because the car is by default 4 wheel drive.... All four wheels run on default and the 4x4 gear is used to transfer power to front or back only...

First Gen Toyota Fortuner were tuned differently. Power delivery is very linear and there is strong pull, but not punch. That's because of tall gearing. Scorpio uses much shorter gearing to tap into the power. But that requires frequent gear shift, which can be irritating in heavy traffic. Also Scorpio has a high reving engine whereas Fortuner has a more relaxed engine. But one reason for your complaint could be clogged air filter, blockage in fuel line, worn out clutch plate, poor glow plugs or tuning of the fuel injector. Toyota fortuner has always been known for negligible turbo lag and instant power delivery. It would be better to take your fortuner to the service centre.
