125 is a good bike to start, im still not sick of it after 6 years of owning it. always give s a hell of a ride! its still scary to hold her wide open trhu the gears going though dirt haha
I dont trust dirtrider magazine anymore, since they say that the top speed of a CR250 is 67mph. I've raced a Nissan Maxima SE years ago (which did 0-60 mph in 6 seconds) and I was pulling away from it almost as if it wasnt moving. That was on my CR125.
yes, you shouldnt run the bike with a pipe on if you have the stock jet in the carb because it will most likely run too lean and blow your engine.. You need to put in a bigger jet to get more fuel to the engine, i got my buddy to do it and tune the bike since he owns a motorcycle shop and knows what hes doing but normally it should cost around 45$ parts and labor. Ride on
your right, 4 seconds is not accurate its probly more 5 or 6.. i will check the true 0-60 with an accelerometer soon, but this bike does top out at almost 120kmh, watch the video from the launch, count the gears and you can clearly hear it top out
well theres obviously something wrong, is your airfilter clean ? and maybe its a dirty carb... did u rejet the bike yet ? maybe thats the prooblem. it could be lots of things just go through them one by one
the bike was just rebuild befor making this video, it has been more than a year and i have put a shit load of hours on it always flat out and its still stonger than ever. its a honda for gosake

i think you def should keep your cr125 or get a cr250..... if you like how it feels on your 125 and you know your bike...i recommand you get a cr250....no doubt... or yz250 cuz its the same mecanic but bigger...ya feel me?....if you never put your hands on a 4-stroke stay with 2-stroke... when i go to the track and i see there are like 3 bikes 2-strokes and 15 or 20 bikes 4-strokes.......ahahah seriously it was like a party of lawn mower over there....ahahah

hope my 84 cr125 will go that fast i have 600 bucks im spenden on it iv already redone the hoel rolling frame now time for the motor im boring it 60 over with a wiseco piston racing induction reeds bigger jet dg exhasute uni air filter and customizeing my air box:)should pull real hard even tho its old there good bike cant wait till its done and its a 6 speed to
@1998jk Get a cr85 at first, and if you need more power, just bore the engine, instead of spending more money on a bigger bike, just build it up. And then if you want, you can move up to a 250 instead of going to a 125 and then moving on. Just bore the 85 and then switch to a 250
@mikabrandl yes proper tuning, my bike with all the bs i have installed cant come up with a proper tune its either to rich, or to lean, and no matter who i bring it to for a tune, they come up with the same answer, im pretty sure if i lived a little more sea level rather than up in the mtns of NC i would be able to get a decent tune, but im guessing altitude and temp PLUS its winter, make it damn near impossible to get a good tune, spring time will probally be the better time to tune it.
4 screws, bottom of the carb, pilot jet, main jet, screw em out, put bigger one or smaller in, put back together, run full speed, check spark plug, if black running to much, if white running to little, if brown perfect
thats almost true...... you wont ever reach 160 with a 23cc... however you could do 0-60 fast as hell with short ratio gearin... to reach 160...you would need like 20 gears and it would take all day to reach 160....

Yeah I know what it is. I just mis-understood what you said I think. I thought you were saying it revs out quicker than a 4-stroke. I believe they run much hihger RPM's though due to haveing twice the power strokes. I'm not positive though.
the only thing about this video that is bad.... is your shifting when your trying to get alot of speed from 1st gear XD it seems like your shifting WAY to fast... other than that great video!
@mikabrandl adding a pip dosent make it "powerful" it give it a tad bit more torque, boring it over, porting and polishing and adding all different power adders such as reeds and adjusting the timing make a world of difference.
if i put a procircuit pipe on my bike and didn't rejet it right away would i hurt my engine and can you do it yourself or should i take it to a shop and how much would it cost

i rode a '91 model that had a six speed transmission. i simply can't imagine where 6 gear would be used. i understand they dropped it to a five speed in the next model.
i think i know what the problem is it has low compression but idk the psi for it for the service so i just gonna run til it stops and is klotz r-50 good 2 cycle oil

I would change the gearing for more top end personally, your maxing tem out too quickly. I know there meant to be like that, but i would rather some more top end in replacement.

all my jets are stock except the pilot the guy who had it before me put a 65 pilot and should only be a 58 that could be it to but i got runnin good yesterday
now that youve got the power... put a rear cog on it and give it some top speed. i put a 47 rear, 13 front on mine and it would run almost 80 which is pretty fast for a 125.
my bikes at the shop and im putting the procircuit pipe on and rejetting it and getting a tune up and compression test will all that make it much faster?
Yep and that's the fun if it my neighbors has a fully modded hill climb bike and He is sitting in the front handle bars and he still can't keep it on the ground

2stroke 125's go way faster then 60mph, unless u have REALLY low gearing. a 2stroke 85 will do 65.
its a good bike id say, well i love it, you could go to a 250 but remember that a 250 is very strong, this 125 still scares me sometimes

no its not short geared, the transmision is stock but the engine is tuned..
its says fmf rev goldseries on the pipe
