Purdue was always going to run a different offensive system this year. Painter has always run his offense and adapted his system around the personnel he has, it just tends to be more post oriented because that's where their strengths lie more often than not. For instance, in 2018-19, Purdue just graduated 4 senior starters the year prior and were left with Carsen Edwards and a bunch of role players. Their starting Center was Matt Haarms, who is not a back to the basket post scorer. The system was changed to one of constant motion and tons of off ball screens to get Carsen and Ryan Cline open for threes, and as a result, Purdue shot some of the most threes and had some of the fewest post ups in the country that season
Myles, CJ, Gicarri and Burgess have all looked good, Purdue fans are going to love this team.
That track is high-key an absolute bop
This season is gonna be like 2019. From the most post heavy offense in the country to the most three point heavy offense in the country, and while it took a second to jell, once it did, they balled out.
It's a possibility for sure but we'll still throw some post touches too lol
In 2019 Carson took most of the workload.m and succeeded bc he got the green light from anywhere
Is Painter going to let anyone on this team have the green light?
It will be more similar to 2019 than in most other recent seasons, but 2019 was completely oriented around threes. This year, I expect it to be more about driving lanes and opening up space in the middle of the floor, while also getting lots of great looks from 3 with the spacing that opens up for them. Cam Heide and Myles Colvin are two absolutely electric, extremely athletic slashers (who were both absurd shooting the 3 last year as well, which will help open up those driving lanes for others), and Braden Smith will be able to get them the ball. Painter puts a heavy emphasis on Gortat seals for his bigs, while TKR will be able to do extremely well, as well as Furst whenever he's in the game, but Jacobsen, Berg, and Burgess should pick it up quickly as well. This will be huge for those driving lanes. TKR is also a force in the post, so when he's down there, he'll often command a double team, which will allow a Heide or Colvin to slip to the basket and get an easy bucket. I expect a lot of post touches for TKR but with a lot of cycling in and out of the paint so he's not clogging up the paint all the time, unlike how the team operated with Edey the last few years
@@slammin2445 Braden is going to have a pseudo-green light in the sense that he wants him taking a lot of shots (like he did to extreme success in HS at Westfield when he won Mr Indiana Basketball), but he won't take as many or force the same kind of tough shots as Carsen did, nor would Braden attempt anyway because he's a smart, team-first player. TKR will have the green light when he gets the ball in the post, but that's obviously much more situational and not comparable to what Carsen did. The shooters will also have that same green light when they get an open 3, but that's fairly self explanatory
@@falconhoward4032 I see and agree with some of what you are saying. I think Braden will actually have more open passing lanes from a perimeter focus offense with a lot of lanes of attack to draw in defenders. I think this roster is deeper with more creators with the ball than 19 but Cline, Eifert, wheeler and Sasha did more on catch from Carson’s gravity than I think Loyer and Colvin will get from Braden.
I don’t think Burgess and Berg will play a ton this year so a stellar year from TKR who should play more of the 5 than 4 could open up for lanes from Smith to attack.
I am not high on Colvin but if he can be more than just a 1 dimensional scorer I think that will get this team to another level
To be fair, Colvin was a creator in high school. He was good at making quick changes of pace to beat his man and pulling quick moves into jumpshots. He got sped up last year being a freshman. I think he'll settle in and be more creative this year
I mean Colvin was also very inconsistent in his efficiency, had to take all the shots cuz he was THE GUY on the team, and it was a very low division so the competition wasn't nearly the same. Obviously it still helps to see that he has some capability of doing it, and I don't think it's anything that can't be mended, especially with the way Purdue develops players
You earned my ‘like’ with your beautiful singing. 🔥🔥
nice chant at the beginning
Very entertaining
I can't get past the Boilerball song. It was fantastic.
Catchy tune!
Boilerball! Song is a BOP!
Purdue from this point on can be described in one way. BALANCED- win/lose. A lot of people will need to establish themselves
Greg is sleeping on Colvin so hard lmao
I keep starting to watch your clips because of the tag lines ... but shortly after I click off. Because ... where are the clips? You talk about the clips but where are they?

What footage?! You guys seriously need to at least put links in for the footage you talk about if you aren't going to show it.
I think Fletch is going to have a huge year.
Cart nailed boiler ball, lol
Sounds like we won’t be able to score against IU.
First comment, a little sleepers magic.
For the love of God please learn to say "Lafayette". It's LAU FEE-YET, not LAU FAY-ETT in Hoosier speak!
