Our Nigerian master's degree Graduate (in Mandarin no less), what struck me the most in this video was the fact that you all were not loud, but your conversation was so good and intriguing that everyone around you pretended to be busy on their phones but were silently listening to the conversation! Oh the get married thing, does not even get to me, my mom has mentioned, i had to tell her not to do so again or else. So that one has been handled. Been saying I do not want kids since my mid teens. Still feel same in my 30s lol. Think part that resonated with me is hard to find a gd partner. But the guy was pretty sweet and you could sense his shyness underneath but its pretty brave for him to request to switch seats. Means he really wants to get to know you.

A lot of Chinese students take English classes sometimes even before elementary school. So he's not wrong in saying that there's probably a lot of people who can speak english really well in China but they are shy. They practice on online platforms and in english classrooms, but when it comes to speaking to foreigners I think they get scared. They don't know how a person will react or if they don't want to be rejected. It makes sense to me.
I think this guy will take care of you for your whole life. He seems very honest and intelligent.

Nice video, what stood out the most was that he mentioned most young people do not want kids and funny thing so many young people around the world feel the same way.
That’s interesting because I don’t think it’s same with most African countries, it’s still a new concept to us.
@@ucheobuekweI think we're getting there. As a Nigerian I'm not really into kids and my family respect that. To be fair I think I come from an open minded family.
My daughter who is 20 doesn't want children. She's 1/4 African. I'm mixed - Ghanaian and German, born and raised in Ghana until after National Service.
My oldest sister didn't want children until she changed her mind and had her one and only child at 41.
There are more and more people who don't want children, Africans included.

@@Jazz-fg2dm I think the bigger question is is life worth living despite suffering? That's subjective. There is no way to determine what the child would think unless they are born. But I would say that most people are glad to be alive despite suffering. Especially those of us who believe our souls are eternal and will be free of suffering once we leave this body.

I am an older single woman. On a language app, I had a young man in his 20’s, from China, saying he wanted to marry me. I told him he was too young and needed to meet someone closer to his age. He said the same thing as this young man, there are not enough women in their country for the men.

@@kima6474I wouldn't say it's out of desperation per se. If you have an idea of the dynamics of the society and the intense pressure placed on men to marry, you would know and understand how immensely difficult it is for them to get married.
Some men would just like to marry for love but often if not always the girl's parents will not allow them to marry if the man doesn't have a good job, earn a lot of money, hasn't bought an apartment or house and doesn't own a car.
With that kind of pressure placed specifically on men in the society, it's no wonder so many are still single into their 30s and even 40s.
@@kima6474so when they meet a foreigner knowing that those demands are absent there's an eagerness and a hope to seek a friendship or relationship.
So it really doesn't have anything to do with skin colour.

One of my guy friends is Chinese and additionally I've been teaching English online for several years and have taught over 4000 classes with several hundred of my students being from China. I teach adults and have learned so much about China from my students without having ever stepped foot in the country.

usually when you go to work, you get paid after you done working....... you think the chinese go build infrastructures and don't ask for money? if you don't have money, what do you pay with? if you have chicken, you pay with chicken, if you have resources you pay with resources, if you have nothing you wash the dishes. So you think the chinese built their economy on stuipidity? of course if they build mega billion dollars infrastructures, they want to get paid... so what do africa do if they don't have money duhhh, they pay with minerals and resources. COme build me a house and i'll shake your hand and not pay you a penny. stooopid.

Im from the Caribbean living in Europe. I think most people these days dont want kids etc. I dont have the pressure of my parents to get married or to have kids. Im open to it if it happens, but i dont want to have kids either. That is our generation now. Its getting more common to hear this. People dont want kids to suffer in this bad world. It cost alot of money and its a sacrifice and people want to enjoy their money, travel, but what they want and having kids can take away from that.

Enjoyed you chat with the Chinese guy. Strange that he could not find a girlfriend or wife. I'm from South Africa and an engineer is considered being a person with financial potential and should easily be able to support a wife. Noted the high ratio of males to females. I find it difficult to believe that China has so many unmarried woman, the so called left on the shelf ladies. Well I'm on my 3rd year of studying Mandarin and I am truly fascinated by the culture and China as a whole. I hate it when I read so much negativity about China. Never been to mainland China only to Hong Kong but fortunately we have the youtubers like yourself that keep us posted.

They do teach English in a lot of schools in China you know, just like they do in Nigeria primary/secondary school. You should know that, it is part of the curriculum.

Things that stood out most to me in this video:
1) Uche (I'm a huge fan).
2) When the guy said that "most young people in China (these days) do not want kids."
I found the second one very surprising since just in general, it's very difficult to find people wise enough to not want children.
The Chinese are quite aware of the cost to raise a child.... they do invest a lot in education for their children. Most won't take bringing a child into the world very lightly.

My take is that one of the reasom many younger people don't want too much obligations & responsibilities hence they prefer not to have children.

Lately, there are a bunch of Chinese people in China looking specifically for foreign women due to high expectations from Chinese woman. Also, with the popularity of mixed couple vloggers on Chinese social media, some see it as a way to finding success on the internet and moving away from their very demanding jobs. And others want to leave China entirely, so see a foreign woman as an opportunity to that.
Of course others are for love. So, like with all relationships (regardless of skin colour) people have to be careful.
