Did Mufasa steal the throne from Taka/Scar? No! For one thing, this movie is not canon to the original cartoon. However, looking at it as canon to the remake, here's my viewpoint: 1. Taka's parents were killed and Taka fled the area. So his royal title wouldn't have stuck in another part of the country. Any other unprotected 'kingdom' would've belonged to anyone willing to fight for it. 2. Mufasa was a serious character and took his desire to abolish evil seriously. Taka on the other hand was lazy, a coward and was all for control. Even wanting to control his own brother; that was proven in his song Brother Betrayed. 3. Mufasa did not betray Taka, Taka betrayed Scar over childish jealousy. That's as lame as a child wanting to hate his sibling and turn him over to gangsters because his brother got the last piece of cake.
For those who didn’t watch the Mufasa movie, it sounded like Mufasa stole Scar’s chance to be king. For those who DID watch it, no not really. Most of the movie doesn’t even take place in Milele, which later became the Pridelands. It was mostly a traveling story, where most of the events take place outside of Taka’s homelands and pride, so while he is still a royal, he’s not necessarily a royal by blood in Mufasa’s own kingdom. Simply put, Kiros took away Taka’s chance to be a leader one day by taking out his pride, making him stuck as a prince, and Mufasa created his own royal family line due to what he managed to do for the animals of Milele and saving them from Kiros. So no, Mufasa didn’t steal Scar’s throne, he accepted his own by the animals that saw him as their savior. Scar just happens to be a royal from a pride that used to be now. But Fr, a Kiros and Zira villain duo would probably be one hell of a pair in a spin-off.
Mufasa was always meant to be king. He litteraly could sense the world. Taka was always watching him and not himself. This is almost Thor and Loki at this point.
