    8:50 This is a common misconception, but the TDKR shooter was not inspired by the Joker character, nor did his motivations have anything to do with the films. He went there because it was the largest opening night in the area at the time. The only person who referenced him as The Joker was one of the arresting officers writing a report commenting on his dyed hair (which was bright orange, not green like the Joker) and the media ran with it to make headlines and get clicks.

    As bad as joker 2 is it’s far from the worst. Others far worse include madam Webb, Venem, Superman 3 and 4, green lantern, the marvels, Wonder Woman 1984, supergirl, 1984, cat woman, that last x men movie, Superman and the mole men, etc.

    I know I shouldn't like this movie as much as I do. As most people I wanted the sequel to explore the Joker character more and not Arthur, but I can't help it, I still like what this one did. I do understand the disappointment of audiences with the plot and I even agree in parts. How they went about trying to make a point about fanaticism and icon worship could've been done in a more engaging way with Joker dealing with the aftermath instead of Arthur in prison/court for the majority of the movie, but I wasn't mad about what I got and I think it does make sense if you want it to be realistic like the first one. It continues Arthur's sympathetic loser archetype portrayal while also showing his lack of empathy and his impact on the people who were affected by his actions. It shows the grim realities of prison life, such as police brutality, sexual assault, and stabbing, rather than him leading a prison gang and becoming a mob boss, or permanently escaping, like in most prison or gangster movies. With the first movie Todd Phillips managed to lure audiences to a straight up artsy drama by calling it Joker and I actually think that's genius. Unfortunately you can't pull that stunt twice, because even being fine with the first one being the Arthur Fleck show, now audiences did expect the Joker show but we got the Arthur Fleck show again, this time topped with musical numbers. I like the Arthur Fleck show, so I'm fine with that, but a lot of people don't. And luring "bros" to a musical was always going to be a difficult if not impossible task. In an interview for the first one they talked about the concept of "me and my shadow" and what if your shadow is the real you and the beginning cartoon eludes to that concept in a way but the way they explore that could have been better. They still could have had the criticism of fan culture / icon worship, but shown it in a more interesting way other than Joker fans giggling about his shenanigans in the courtroom and Lee sitting there just admiring him for long parts of the movie. And the way he eventually comes to reject Joker kind of came out of the blue, that could have been more organic. I'm not against him owning up to his actions, but maybe, like in the first one, in a more sinister, I know what I am kind of way. I really like your idea of him just playing along with the defense (which I thought he was actually doing in the beginning with the psychiatrist asking him if she was talking to Joker and him just sitting there shrugging his shoulders smirking) getting out of the death penalty and at the end acknowledging that there's no difference between Arthur and Joker, Joker is his real self, maybe with a repeat of that little smile in the elevator, showing he's not as dumb as everyone things he is. Arthur flat out rejecting that Joker is at least part of his personality does feel disingenuous with how the first one ended, but than again he just spent 2 years in prison with those guards literally treating him like a dog, chaining him up in the yard wile he's barking his laughter out into the rain. That could make anyone realize they're not as free and grand as they think they are. I don't get how this version of Harley is "misogynistic". The Joker character from the get go has been nothing like in the comics, so why not also turn this around? In this setting there is no way in hell any psychiatrist would fall in love with this guy or of this Joker (Arthur) torturing her into submission, that would have been absolutely ridiculous and also it's been done, why not get a new take on it, just like the new take we got on Joker as a character. This take of her being delusional and obsessed with Joker but also cold and calculating towards Arthur is great and still creates a toxic relationship and feels much more realistic for this version. She could have used more character depth, screen time and a better exit though. I saw a deleted scene where she fully set Arthur up to get arrested on the stairs at the end to get rid of him dancing away. Making someone the villain isn't misogynistic just because the person is female. The lawyer and the psychiatrist who are genuinely interested in his well-being are also female and the male guards are kind of villains too. I definitely wasn't bored with this movie, it looks stunning, the production is fantastic, the acting is outstanding and that just doesn't make a bad movie to me. I do understand the disappointment considering the target audience who already got fooled once and unfortunately it's flopping hard, even though it could have broken even financially if they hadn't gone overboard with the budget. Oppenheimer had half the budget for crying out loud. I take all aspects of a movie into consideration, not just the plot (which is a little disjointed and not giving us what we wanted but still far from awful and honestly maybe what we wanted was unrealistic to begin with if we truly look at the first movie), so I can't say this is a bad movie with the way it's shot and how it looks and the acting and production and the plot at least trying to be consistent with the bleakness of the first movie but still trying to give us something new. And I don't buy the argument that Phillips just wanted to stick it to fans. Making a movie is time consuming for everyone involved, I really think they have better things to do than make a massive movie just to say fuck you. And him trying to be artsy fartsy with it still works, because it looks artsy fartsy and not just cheap. I love the first movie (for the right reasons I guess) and I love this one and didn't feel offended by it. I for one am glad this movie exists and that they at least wanted to try something with it and I'm looking forward to watching it again. I'd rather have a gorgeous looking, amazingly acted misfire than the same old comic book movie for the millionth time. Especially after having had to sit through the trailer for the third Venom movie with the most regurgitated dialogue and unfunny jokes you can possibly imagine...

    I wish you guys would do a bit of research on some points. Joaquin got $20M not $50M for this one, which is sizable but not more than the first, probably even less. So I don't think it's his and Gaga's salary that is contributing to the bloated budget, that's probably just WB throwing money at Phillips. Also they made it very clear in the movie that it takes place 2 years after the first one and you guys going on about little 10 year old Bruce Wayne coming for Joker, like what the hell? 🤣

      You're right, they director had an original idea with the first jokester movie.. but his original idea. I guess he did not have faith in it, so he placed characteristics of an already established character that was created for comics on to his OC character. But that would be like making a Harry Potter movie, but should have wizards they're just regular people, but then labeling the movie. Harry Potter. It would be a movie based on a novel character, like this movie is based on a comic book character but just copy pasted. You can't change the genre of a character just because you want to. The joker AKA Jack AKA John is a comic book character. But in my opinion, it's a terrible rendition of a comic book.

      I don't think he was broken (at least not all the way) after what the guards did to him, he was still smiling after they threw him in his cell. Only after they start murdering his prison buddy, who was always nice to him and idolized him till the very end, do his eyes become big and he starts shaking. Yes, in the first movie he said nothing can hurt him anymore, but he never turned into a cold blooded killer and murdered people who were nice to him, so maybe he realized him being Joker doesn't safe him or anybody from anything.

    I just want to see this movie Saturday night. I was absolutely blown away, I had never felt so much nail biting tension throughout the entire run time and so much uncomfortable second-hand cringe. I watched the original the day after and I think both of them are good, but I prefer this remake just in tone itself. Sometimes it's nice to not be left depressed and miserable after you see a movie lol On the scene with Agnes sleeping in their bed though. The original doesn't really have more justification I think. Yes it is visibly shown that the mother is ignoring her as she cries, and she has more culpability. But in the original, Agnes is sleeping next to Patrick, in between him and his wife. And he is stark naked. Not even any black Speedos. She is also the only child in the bed. In the remake, she is sleeping on the edge of the bed next to the mother and Ant is in between Paddie and her.

  • @adamdavis1737
    @adamdavis1737 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I like the remake better. But I don't necessarily know that I can call it a better movie. I think the original stands out for a very bleak atmosphere with a sense of unease and dread to it. A lot of that is accomplished by framing of specific shots and imagery along with the soundtrack And while I think there are great performances across both films, I think the remake is especially carried by the acting. Specifically from McAvoy and Davis I also felt more of a sense of kind of nail biting tension from the remake. Basically just through secondhand embarrassment and cringe. But I found a lot of the decisions that the main characters make to be a little bit more believable even if they are still hard to watch, and part of that is because of how charismatic McAvoy could be. I believed more that he would be able to convince them to stay with his apologies and explanations. Mostly though I prefer the remake just because you don't get left with this depressing feeling of seeing weak people getting tortured for being weak. There might be more impactful moments in the finale of the original, but the remake was just a little bit more enjoyable to watch I think both are really good though. So like I said I'm not necessarily going to say the remake is better, only that I enjoyed it more

      I was thrilled to see them, even if I wasn't a fan of their inclusion in the original show. I guess I'm weird like that... but to me, it showed that they were really deep diving into the original source material even if they weren't married to it. Plus, it gives an opening for sequel material, as the Decepticons don't like them any more than the Autobots and they could be forced to team up as they did against a common enemy in a lot of the old stories.

    Review “Am I Racist?” Funniest movie I’ve seen in years

    Agree with everything Joe said. Beetlejuice is my #1 comfort film, I rewatch it year round in my house. I'll never rewatch this sequel. Keaton was fantastic but it did not have the same immersive 80s gothic feeling. Too much slapstick humor that fell flat for me and did nothing to advance the plot. So much emphasis on Charles death surrounding how the actor is now canceled. No explanation of Adam and Barbara's "loophole" and how they moved on from the house. I was in the theatre wishing I could fast forward. Not enough time in the netherworld or with Lydia and Beetlejuice teaming up together. And with that cgi baby thing, I wish I could delete my eyes. I can't believe they tortured the audience with that twice.

    Many of the songs on the soundtrack for the original Crow were written specifically for that movie. 😊 My friend thought Bill was going to play Michael Korby from The Crow: Wild Justice cuz the tattoos look similar. They used Airsoft guns during filming. No real guns were allowed on set.

    You need to watch the scenes with Skull Cowboy on TH-cam. They actually have the scene right before he goes into the church. Skull Cowboy is not happy with Eric, he's only supposed to kill the people who killed him, he was no supposed to interfere with the living. Skull Cowboy is trying to prevent Eric from going into the church to save Sarah, so Skull Cowboy tells Eric he'll be doing it as a mortal and takes Eric's invincibility away. Losing his invincibility after the crow was shot was something they did after Brandon died. The scene in the car "kill the bird, destroy the man," that wasn't in the original script, they wrote it and filmed it after Brandon Lee died.

    There are 23 different characters in the comics who become The Crow, they very easily could have chosen different characters. Chris- I said the same thing! Update the CGI and release the updated version nationwide, they'd make so much freaking money. Joe- you are incorrect about the scene in which Brandon Lee was actually shot. You are correct about it being Funboy. The scene where he was shot, was the very beginning of the movie. Brandon Lee pushed the apartment door open when they're assaulting Shelly. The character gets shot in the stomach, the bullet goes through a grocery bag Eric was holding. I was obsessed with The Crow when I was a teenager... it's a beautiful story. There are only 3 scenes in the film that weren't Brandon Lee, and they're all in the abandoned apartment at the start of the movie. That ICONIC scene when he walked towards the window with the crow on his shoulder? Yeah, that's not actually Brandon Lee.

    Oh noooo... The Neverending Story traumatized an entire generation! Lol, I'm a parent now, I feel it's my duty to pass the trauma of that movie to the younger generation... so I ordered it on DVD. 😈

    100 mins long...and 90 of those are badly acted, badly written & blandly shot garbage. There is one 10 minute sequence in the opera house which is actually not bad at all. But it's too little too late! The leads have zero chemistry! Bill is a good actor, but surprisingly miscast here while FKA should stick to music because she's a terrible actress! The soundtrack doesn't suck, but the songs feel so randomly thrown in with little thought given to why they're there other than "it might make wake up us Goths"...AWFUL FILM OVERALL!
