Jokic is most definitely not an isoball player. He makes a lot of assists, but the most underrated part of his skillset is his movement without the ball; he makes a lot of cuts around the half court. He’s not the high usage ballstopper casuals think he is.

A Spurs fan but I loved how Jokic plays the game. He’s a point center and he’s playing old school basketball with a blend of new school. I don’t see anyone stopping him in the Finals. The beauty of his game is he doesn’t rely on athleticism to play. Jokic basketball IQ is off the charts on the offense side. Good luck to the Nuggets.

I'm new to the NBA and the Nuggets by far are my favorite team. They seem like the most balanced and well-rounded team so far. Also, I know everyone loves to talk about Jokic and Jamal, and rightfully so, but I feel like very little attention is given to Aaron Gordon. He's my favorite player in their team, the man is a walking highlight reel! Those dunks are so saucy!

I think the next phase for Luka to grow as a player is How to play faster like Joker Joker play at his own pace but he always looks to push when he got rebounds or even made basket
That idea is so essential to a dynamite offense just like Kings GSW Pacers they all do the same thing and it’s not coincidence.
Fast break is undeniable the most efficient way to score Attack when the defense is not set is much easier. He has to learn how to give up the ball a little bit
Learn how to empower his teammates instead of make them into a standstill shooter.
I hope he can recognize the way he is playing right now not gonna win him a championship. He is a hell of player but he has to adjust at some point.

I watched Shaq and Kobe's three peat, Jokic and Murray's duo, is as dominant in today's NBA as Shaq and Kobe back in the day, even if you think Jokic is less than Shaq and Murray is not close to Kobe, doesn't matter, others cannot stop them and that's dominance. Watching nuggets game it feels like very single offense possession can produce a good shot, that's rare.

The inverted pick and roll they run causes so much chaos to the defense. Go and watch some videos on their pick and roll and watch how many times not only are the cutters open but how often they have someone sitting wide open for 3. Barton had good chemistry with Jokic then Jamal stepped up into that role. I think when Jamal went down the last few seasons this gave AG more opportunities to build that chemistry with Jokic. Now you have this cyclone of picks that come from anywhere and the defense thinks they have the read but forget they have MPJ and KCP sniping beyond the ARC.

If you don't love Nugget ball than you dont love ball period. Especially with all the glitz and glamor of LA and Jamal averages 50/40/90 and dropping a 50 bomb on their head WITHOUT a SINGLE free throw attempt!
Basketball does not get more beautiful than that. Especially contrasting that against the free throw reliant Lakers offense.
I know they earned thousands of new fans that series. If you dont love Nuggets ball you just gotta admit you dont love basketball. You either love the pagaentry and celebrity or laundry but definitely not basketball if you can't appreciate the Nuggets.

The comment about attacking space is spot on. Denver also relieves pressure to space but is never stagnant after relieving that pressure. They all simply continue to flow. Five blacktop ballers could take everything you've shown here and never get run off the court. It's just really simple basketball with easy decision making the natural outcome of what they are doing. Spacing and then playing two or three man games in the middle of the floor is all that's really needed at any level.

7:33 remember after game 1 when every yt channel said the lakers would put rui on jokic and have ad roam? I was wondering if any channels would break down how the nuggets countered, and i like how coach pyper showed a couple ways here.
My favorite was the first example, because after passing jokic cuts towards ad, away from the player with the ball; that essentially takes out ad as the rim protector when gordon (ad’s matchup) drives.
I guessed beforehand that one of the ways the nuggets could punish ad for roaming was to have his offensive matchup set offball screens, so it was nice to see my prediction wasn’t too far off; seems the nuggets countered by skipping it to ad’s offensive matchup, then having him run a dho with the wing, which meant ad was now guarding someone who was a threat from 3, forcing him to close out and not roam.

Great analysis! I want alsoto point out the off-ball movement of the Nuggets. Always ready to set a flare or pin-in screen to keep the weak (or strong) side defense occupied. Always interesting the position of Gordon or Green. They put them above the break to put AD or KD outside the paint or on the strong side. If they are on the weak side and the defender is ignoring them, then you flow into a blind pig action to set a HOff for MPJ. Great job by the coaches.

great analysis. Interesting how potent the transition offense is. Joker rebounds and beats his man down the floor-- even when his man is generally regarded as a better athlete. 2 months ago if you said Joker outrunning AD would key the transition offense many people would have balked. To be fair, part of this is due to AD's habit of falling to floor every single shot attempt or contested rebound. Joker gets the ball and GOES- with a 5 on 4 or 5 on 3 advantage.

@StarOfDavid444 ring or no ring, just the eye test shows Jokic is much better than Giannis and Embiid. Only weakness is his defense but at least he is trying. He is actually averaging a block and a steal per game. But everything else, he better than this 2. All around game, passing, setting picks to teammates, 3 point shots, mid range as good as Embiid, facilitating, free throws and most of all, he doesnt panic when 2 to 3 defenders will come to him. He knows what to do with the ball. Thats the waterloo of Joel and Giannis. They panicked resulting to turnovers everytime they are double team, triple team.
