I never thought a member of the Manson Family would ever be released from prison! What a shock! After she sees how much society has changed, Leslie might feel safer in prison and want to return.
At least she lived to see old age. Paul Richard wasn't allowed to take his first breath, and not a single victim lived to experience old age

One thing ALWAYS omitted when talking about Leslie Van Houten is that she did not participate in murdering anyone. She admitted to stabbing Rosemary LaBianca 16 times, but all 16 stab wounds were postmortem. Everyone who reports on this case blasts the first part of that last sentence and never, ever includes the second. And she only participated at that point because she was forced.
This is not a conspiracy theory either. The LA Coroner’s Dept. confirmed AT THE TIME OF TRIAL that indeed all of the clustered wounds on her lower back were both shallow and postmortem. The jury foreman gave an interview in which he acknowledged the jury had a problem extending the death penalty to Leslie specifically because she played no active roll in any death.
The fact she was in prison for 50+ years because the media successfully Manson-branded her - making tens of millions of dollars in the process - while not reporting on what she actually did and DID NOT do is disgusting.

As a practitioner in a healthcare field for the past 50 years that the population that I work with people deconstructing out of high demand religions, cults and the occult its of my opinion (of course I'm not her practitioner) is that IF she hadnt gotten in with the Mason family, the drugs etc I dont think she had a propensity of unaliving anyone, but of course thats my opinion. She has stated time and time again that she realizes the magnitude of what she did by participating. Anyway I will stop now but I thought I would just give my brief two cents. ✌️

Yeah. It's not death or life. But it's interesting to me also the language of "instituting an unlawful burden," or what I call "a unadjudicated burden." Here in California and all accross the country every day Americans face the unadjudicated burden of homelessness which some people could argue is so much worse than sitting in a prison with security and three meals a day. You could argue that homelessness and the eventual and inevitable horrible death that you sucumb to eventually with it because homelessness is impossible to get out of isn't even as bad as where El Chapo is in a supermax. It seems completely crazy to see California mistreat and kill mostly if not all its homeless population with zero adjudication or consideration by a judge and jury of this burden.

People need to remember that she and the others involved in the murders were not monsters. They were normal girls living their lives before they met Manson. Yes they chose to follow him knowing what his plan was, but they were very impressionable and also not sober at the time. They were definitely influenced and it doesn’t excuse way they did. Yet she has been in prison for 50 years. She’s not a threat to anyone. If she truly changed her life then she deserves to spend whatever time she has left in society. Sentencing is tricky and there definitely needs to be a solid ground in it in any case. We also need to remember that some people can change if they aren’t long gone by the time they commit a crime. There are people who go to prison for decades for crimes they didn’t commit or crimes that were not as serious as murder and they deserve to be considered for how they have changed. We need to strive for fairness in sentencing.

The justice system needs to catch up and be educated on cults and bounded choice. It appears she made a "choice" to participate, but did she? what were her other options? if the situation is "kill or be killed" that's not a choice, but a bounded choice.
I hope that with her release, there were plenty of mental evaluations and a determination that her actions at 19 don't reflect her own character or desire to kill, but rather another example of cult tactics being used by monsters to get others to do horrendous things.

It's certainly funny that she skated by the death penalty by sheer luck and was able to eventually attain parole by technicalities. Supposedly she regrets it all now, but it took almost thirty years for her to say anything against Manson, their groups actions, or their fairy tale race war. If the Manson family crime spree happened today, all the same events unfolding, would she still walk away free in the end? This is about more than just murder of course. I may not like Newsome but she probably would have gotten parole regardless of him after being denied 20 times. It's only because the death penalty was quashed that she's even still here.

Canadian Mom desperate to save/rescue my son from Parental Alienation - Canadian Media refuses to report on it, I'm Nadia, a single mother with terminal cancer, dealing with Parental Alienation.
I've lost my son in November of 2018, I've been fighting all these years and I just keep losing in court and with Children Services (CAS). I live in Canada, the capital Ottawa, and CAS (Children Aid Services) took my son stating I physically and verbally abused him. Without any evidence they took my son, when they interrogated me I told them he slipped and fell. But they didn't believe me. I had horrible lawyers as well, that advised me wrong. Telling me that I don't need to present my evidence (recordings) as the judge will read between the lines and know the truth. Let me tell you they don't read between the line and they treated me all these years as a felon, when I literally did nothing.
I've been reaching out to CAS to open the case, because in the latest report from a counselor from October 2022, my son stated that he sees my face on other people, that he fears mommy will kidnap him and he truly couldn't accuse me of anything more then that i sent him to room for spilling popcorn on the couch.
I've been trying to get them to open a case to investigate their wrong doings and of course they are refusing. I reached out to my MP, MPP, Police, RCMP and nobody is doing anything to help me rescue my son. I had 2 near death experiences by now and I fear I will pass before I rescue my son from his true abuser. Here is a recording of my son during a supervised visit where you can hear him admitting he lied and there is another video where he was telling how his dad abused him on his trip to Toronto in August 2018, which CAS refused to investigate.
I have plenty of evidence and I reached out to by now hundreds of Media/journalists here in Canada and NOBODY will report my story and HELP me to rescue my son.
I am begging you to please help me save my son before my demise, please help me get the spotlight on CAS and my ex, who was nominated as outstanding Black Canadian in 2020. Please I am begging you to help me save my child, his mind is so poisoned against me, he is struggling emotionally and mentally. Parental Alienation is ABUSE, it's legal ABDUCTION to be honest, this boy became a bully since his dad entered more into his life. I left my ex due to domestic abuse, he was a correctional officer, that would always squeeze me so so hard, then shove me to the ground and this trip to toronto he did the same thing to my son plus lifted my son by his hair off the ground.
I really need your help to expose this man and CAS. Please

I would also like to point out had this be a person of color they probably wouldn’t have gotten the same treatment and rehabilitation would have been harder for them. Why is it that a murderer had better rehab options yet those that do lesser charges like drug use cannot get into rehab programs. It smells really fishy to me and feels racist but that’s the justice system 🎉🎉🎉

LVH wasn't there for the "Tate" murders --- she did participate in the LaBianca murders but stabbed Rosemary post-mortem. She was already dead by Krenwinkel's stabs. It is heinous, but after 53 years in prison.. the parole board didn't believe she was a threat to society, so they granted her parole. She is elderly now anyway.

The idealistic past and pre victim me pushed hard for an enlightened era and the end of harsh punishments like the death penalty but it's now no longer my opinion. There is true evil out there like gangsters who are ALL without a single exception depraved souls with an insatiable need for violence. The death penalty is given in other states to people who commit only one murder. Gangsters each commit thousands and live a life of unlimited and sick violence. It is under this that I resubmit that we have to open up to the idea of reinstituting the death penalty for gangsters. It is absolutely a deterrent. I submit that eveey state of our nation should immediately institute an automatic life sentence with the death penalty for all gangsters. See the brutal murder of the Uber Eats driver. Or the senseless stabbing to death of a senior Asian woman just exercising at the park in San Diego.
