Beautiful, ancient. The way the primitive eye functions is fascinating. Look it up if you are curious. It's one if the ways to witness very ancient biology compared to a human eye.
The Nautilus is one of my fave sea creatures. I’ve never seen their eggs before so thanks for showing that! I also had no idea they lived to be up to 20 years old! A shame they reproduce and grow so slowly, definitely a contributing factor to potentially declining populations. These creatures are so cool though. Did you know that they, obviously, can’t see behind them, so they often bump into a lot of things like rocks and anything else that might get in their way. It’s kinda funny to watch. Thanks for the awesome video on such an awesome creature!
I got to see these at the Gatlinburg Aquarium, and man are they so cool! I really appreciate such unique animals and I’m so glad I got the chance to see them up close! Amazing video!
Yes, we were responsible for the asteroid slamming into the Yucatan peninsula and causing all the Jurassic era animals to go bye-bye 65 million years ago. Are you stupid, and why do?
Nautilus is popular because of two things: 1: Their shells are the golden example of the most beautiful mathematical sequence called the Golden Ratio. & 2: The name of the submarine owned by Captain Nemo from the book by Jules Verne called 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Nautilus are really old creatures chambered Nautilus is our round today even the rare and elusive fuzzy Nautilus and nautiluses I heard can also eat dead animal origin that falls flat on the ocean floor well that's one way to grab food I guess even though they can't shoot ink like an octopus they are still built for speed as long as nothing harms them of course
I met one when i was on an island, its was superr cool to observe them in the wild. But im not sure whether it is the same or not? Since the island i visit was on south china sea. It was dark red and move quite fast, its hard for me to video it was during low tide. Overall it was a fantastic experience meeting with prehistoric animal. If anyone can confirm what i saw, tht would be wonderful.
Wow that sounds so wonderful! It's pretty difficult to identify anything through a written description alone, but maybe check out iNaturalist to see if you can find something that looks similar. Best of luck!

I don't remember how long ago it was I did what turned out to be a long but fruitful search for an image of the mollusk itself and found that it is as ugly as its shell is beautiful. As odd as it may sound one of my most vivid memories of a tour of Oahu was my first and only look at live nautiluses in the Honolulu Zoo. What I'd give to see them in the ocean.

The biggest bug about evolution...the scientists always say; - so they developed this new adaption that now made them capable of.......Seriously? Like they all got together & had a little meeting to deliberately decide which one of them will start the next phase up the evolutionary ladder. Can't we just say that over time, this new thing developed & that's what happened to give us this new species.
No, they did not get together and have a little meeting. One happened to be born with more optimal traits, which makes it more likely to survive and pass on it's genes of those more optimal traits to the next generation, which also has a potential to have more optimal traits, and so on. This occurs over many millions of years, which I think many fail to recognize how unfathomably long an amount of time that it.
They are technically not the same animal after all that time, but they look very similar. It's like how many animals that look like crabs aren't actually crabs, but animals that just keep evolving to look somewhat like crabs.

Nautilus also has the most primitive eyes of any animals. Their eyes lack lenses and are simply holes that are sensitive to light.
Makes sense they look weird. But what about tardigrades
They have primitive eyes, but not the most primitive.
why havent they evolved to get better eyes?

Definitely! Apparently their design is used in art and considered a golden ratio. I'm not as familiar with it, but it's something to look into!
