Thanks for your kind wishes and thank you for returning to watch our most recent video. As a local, do you have any suggestions for food to try in Thailand? We are visiting for another 30 days and will be traveling south from Bangkok by train. This will be our first time taking the train in Thailand. 😊

I live in Chiang Mai and overall the food here is good anywhere you go. There are so many Michelin recommended places. Everybody has their favorite places to go. But these favorite places are likely to include street food and market stalls, food courts in malls, and hole in the wall restaurants down back alleys. Where else can you get a big dish of food from a Michelin recommended eatery for less than $2?

What we love about the malls in SE Asia is the you can get some very good food at the little food stalls (usually on the bottom level), but then you can walk outside and get something really tasty by the side of the road.
We just ate pork and egg broken rice in an alley in Saigon today, but we learned about it from one of our TH-cam followers. We would never have discovered this place on our own. Lunch for two cost USD 4.50 and we’re super full.
Thanks for watching our video and leaving a comment. Let us know your go-to restaurants in Chiang Mai so we can try them the next time we visit.
      Cheers!
      🙏☺️

I am Thai and I am happy to see the way you ate rice with green curry. I can say that you are the only foreigner who knows how to eat rice and curry correctly. Cheers!😊

There are some nice local restaurants on the small soi's off Loh Kroh road....one of the best is about half way down, turn right on Soi 1, walk past the Number one bar and past the scooter hire shop to a small restaurant on the left called 'Aum and Camrons' ....excellent thai food and reasonably priced beer....a lot of the bar girls from Loh Kroh eat here and take aways are constantly leaving the shop via Grab....

Thanks for the great tip. We couldn’t find that place on Google Maps, so I guess it’s truly a hidden gem. We’ll be sure to try this place the next time we’re in Chiang Mai. Thailand has so many great places to eat 😋
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏☺️

Thanks for the video, guys! I've been to Thailand a few times now but still haven't been to Chiang Mai. Gonna try to correct that this year. And your video apparently has steered me in the right direction. Cheers! :-)))

It’s definitely worth a visit. It’s very budget friendly which is important for us, and it has some great healthcare options. We had our teeth cleaned at the dentist, but they also have some great clinics for exams if you need them.
Thank for stopping by and checking out our channel. We’re heading to Georgia in 2025 so we’ll definitely check out your videos. 🙏😊

The shrimp gyoza at Je Hua Noodles are really good! Don’t be put off by the dark color!

We tried all of the gyoza options at Je Hua Noodles and agree the shrimp are great. We didn’t order the sample platter of gyoza for the video because it would have been too much food 😂😂. We ate there many times. Our favorite are the fried buns 😋
Thanks for leaving us a comment. 🙏☺️

How much for first cafe? Khao soi and green curry?

Each dish was about 80 baht. We usually paid about 220 baht for two dishes and two drinks. I think the prices were reasonable for a sit down restaurant.

HI! Thanks for stopping by our channel and commenting. We stayed in Chiang Mai one month, then we headed to Vietnam, but now we are back in Thailand and in Bangkok. We will travel south this week and try some other foods as we head toward Maylasia. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. In the United States, most Thai restaurants are very similar, so we are really enjoying "real" Thai food.
Hope to see you on our channel in the future! 🙏🙏😊

Gyoza is originally Chinese. Fried one is called 煎餃 (Jiān jiǎo) which is literally Gyoza in its original form. The steam one is called 水餃子 (Jiaozi). Different dialect of Chinese may call them differently. Jiān jiǎo, Jiaozi or Gyoza morphed into different cuisines in Asia. For example, when it come to Gyoza as a whole meal, Thailand and Japan can't really match those restaurants in Taiwan. Give them a try when visiting Taiwan, you won't be disappointed : ))

Thanks for watching our video and responding to our question about Gyoza. It makes perfect sense that Gyoza and probably many other dishes originated in China and were then modified over time. I haven't really seen anything resembling Gyoza in Chinese restaurants in the United States so it was a little surprising to see Gyoza. Culinary history is so interesting and it's even better when you can eat it!
Taiwan is on our list of places to visit, although we are not sure if we will have time to visit this year. From what I have read the food is amazing.
Thanks again for watching our video and sending us a comment 🙏😊

Are you willing to travel to China ? China has big cities like Hong Kong Shanghai Shenzhen Chengdu Shenyang Tianjin and Chongqing , and many delicious Chinese food

    • @388_days
      @388_days  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes! China is on our list of countries to visit. We have a good friend who is from China that we will eventually meet up with. We used to live in Orange County, California which has many authentic Chinese restaurants so we have been fortunate to enjoy very good Chinese food. But there is nothing like visiting the real country to meet the locals, learn about the culture, and enjoy the food.
Thanks for stopping by and watching our video. Hope to see you in the future.
