The plaintiff makes no sense, she says the money was a gift to her daughter but then sues the roommate for the money back ? The mother should have stayed out of it.
If Alyssa wants to be treated like an individual, she needs to know what she wants. She cannot always depend forever on other people to make decisions for her.
Erica mitigated her damages by getting a new roommate. Erica gave Alyssa a check for the remainder of her security deposit. Erica handled this perfectly. No wonder Alyssa didn’t want to come to court. The case was over before it even started!
I am confident the plaintiff’s husband is a soft spoken accountant or maybe tax lawyer who simply turns up his hearing aid when the plaintiff talks . The daughter is a spoiled princess who has never stood on her own two feet . Sadly the days a man is going to marry a needy princess like this has ended . Her mother got the last idiot .
The plaintiff is one of those persons that wake up and invent injustices upon her and feels that she has been wronged!! Epic karen mentality! Judge made the correct decision here, plaintiff really had zero case here!
Mother’s a tool, daughter don’t owe me the money because I gifted it to her, but defendant owes me because my daughter broke the agreement? What planet is she from, her Uranus ? Daughter was smart not to come and suffer the embarrassment.
The plaintiff never gave the defendant anything. The plaintiff gave her daughter some money. Let's think of it this way. If the plaintiff gave her daughter some money to buy a car and then 3 months later the car broke down. The plaintiff can't take the person who sold her daughter the car to court. The daughter wanted nothing to do with this case. Because she knew it was nonsense. That's why she ain't show up. The plaintiff is a little nuts 😂
Cut the cord Lady!!!!! She’s in court for a 34 year old!!!! Like c’mon. Rental places suck often, but you can’t just up and leave. You gotta tough it out, get an exterminator, and leave after the lease is up if you still don’t like it.
The plaintiff didn't have a leg to stand on, she wasn't the one who rented the place, and she wasn't the one who gave the defendant the security deposit, in fact all she did was give a money gift to her daughter and then didn't like the way her daughter spent it. AND the defendant had already refunded the daughter the remaining security money anyway. God forbid the poor man that marries her daughter and gets her as his mother-in-law, ha ha ha...
Plaintiff does what many parents do when their grown kids go live in another state, let the grown kid pick the place and parents pay for a place that is sight unseen. I had to listen to complaints from parents complaining about roaches and disrepair of the apartment their grown kid picked. I asked the parent, usually a mother, if she went to see the apartment before the kid signed the lease and the answer was always, "No I did not see the place before we paid the deposit and the monthly rent." Bingo. Parents of grown single kids, always accompany your grown kid to the apartment and look around before putting down anything and before signing a lease.
It’s weird to even refer to her as a kid when she’s 34! I don’t know all her circumstances, but if her Mom’s “gifts” are going to come with this level of involvement to the point of suing her longtime friend-it may be time to set some very strict boundaries with her Mom. Also, when you use your own hard-earned money, you tend to put up with some bird poop and chalk it up to a fun adventure with your friend. Hope this is a growing experience for her.
That lady is bugging. I'm glad the friend didn't show up, because ain't no way did she think she was owed a dime. If anything, they would have owed the defendant even more money had she not found a roommate so fast.
This plaintiff has no legal base for her lawsuit. Her arguments are wrong on so many levels. Also, why did she think she needs to pay for her daughter’s apartment? She’s a 34 year-old grown ass woman, she doesn’t need handouts. In a way, I’m not very surprised that this daughter turned out to be an entitled, irresponsible, immature person if mom is that way. You can’t teach what you don’t know. You can’t give what you don’t have.
I'd bet that the plaintiff's daughter is living at home with her Mom, lol. And the defendant is very patient and gracious, more so than what was deserved with Mom and daughter.
I am SURE that she never leaves a tip! She demands to speak to the manager and tells them that they should comp her meal because the food she was served was disgusting and inedible, and the service was atrocious! Meanwhile, her plate doesn't even have a crumb left on it! 🤣
Why would the old lady need an hour to explain why she should get her deposit back? If it takes you that long of an explanation, most likely (99.99%) you’re wrong.
Aww, I feel bad for the defendant. That sucks, I get the mom is trying to protect her daughter but she's not doing it the right way at all. She put her daughter in an awkward place. Mom needs to chill, it's obvious she will always believe she's in the right about this but if you don't tell the landlord and give him/her a chance to eradicate the problem then she jumps the gun and shouldn't get all her money back.
Idk how the plaintiff thought that she would ever get money back. Your daughter made a big decision without double checking if she is okay with the place. She’s lucky she got the money the defendant gave her
WOW !!!...If the Plaintiff was my mum and I had a choice of going home or staying in the apartment, I would rather take my chances with the Roaches, Bugs and Birds anytime !!...Defendant...you're a BABE !!
It's the plaintiffs daughter who should be suing Plaintiff, loaned/gifted her daughter the money to rent the place. The daughter still loses this case. Mom should be sued for abuse of process. She has no business being involved in her daughters legal problems.
If the daughter of the Plaintiff was directly involved, then why wasn't she there in court?" According to the mother, the money was a gift. Not a loan.
If Alyssa wants to be treated like an individual, she needs to know what she wants. She cannot always depend forever on other people to make decisions for her.
Roaches, bugs, spiders, and other creepy crawlies, flying insects, snakes, birds and bird poop - yes, that's what Florida is made of. Get out the bug spray and get over it, Plaintiff.
The Plaintiff’s daughter didn’t like the apartment. Paid less rent. And the plaintiff who gave the deposit as a gift to her daughter for it. Judge Judy would have thrown out this case in 5 seconds. Doug to the plaintiff…”there’s the door!” 😂
Mommy is in court fighting or suing on behalf of her grown daughter not realizing that technically she should be owing the defendant since she decided to cancel the agreement of the rental property.
They always say, "I never got the chance to speak" when they lose lol
"Where is your daughter?"
"What?"
"Where is your daughter?"
"Not here" 😅
It’s amazing how the loudest litigant in court doesn’t think she said enough
Yeah, funny thing.
The plaintiff makes no sense, she says the money was a gift to her daughter but then sues the roommate for the money back ? The mother should have stayed out of it.
Right!?
Absolutely 100% agree with you!
It sounds like Alyssa relies on her mother to survive and is a grifter with no motivation in life.
It sounds like this Mother (plaintiff) cleans up the daughter's messes and has been doing it all her life.
@@wvrjl The daughter is 34. The defendant stated it.
Sounds like the mom wanted to sue and the daughter didnt. You cant give someone money as a gift and sue someone else for it

She seemed like a very nice, fair person too.
and really pretty too!

I just spit my soda out reading your comment 😂😂😂😂!! You're absolutely right!
Best comment! She argues with herself too I bet

The defendant handled this very well. Kudos to her for finding the roommate quickly and sending the money minus the garage rental.
The plaintiff is so mad in the post interview it’s really funny
Plaintiff's daughter is 34 yo. Grown up at that stage. Shouldn't have to take money from your mother to get an apartment.

lol "That's the door"
Lady you didn’t have a case from the start! Smh

If the mom is mad, just tell the daughter that was her christmas gift for the next 10 years. Then don't give her any more money.
The moment she said it was a gift it should of been dismissed bc at that point it's up to the daughter to sue if she wants

Alyssa didn't want any parts of that ish.
It's called privity of contract. You have to be named on the agreement, not just an interested third party.
and in this case it's called mom should mind her business and stay out of it especially if it was a gift not a loan to her daughter.
