Minister of National Defence Video Message for National Indigenous Veterans Day

Every year on November 8th, Canadians across the country pause to mark National Indigenous Veterans Day. We pay tribute to the many Indigenous volunteers who raised their hands to fight for freedom and human rights, which they themselves were often denied.

Agree, but this day was established to counter the then fact, that Indigenous Veterans were not included in the November 11th ceremonies. Today, everyone is included on November 11th and the 8th is there to remind us never to do things like that again and, to bring attention to this as an important part of Canadas history. And number one, to honour these vets. It can't change the past, but it can support healing the present.
