Thank you! My dad is a private pilot and has played flight sim for years. We got him the Xbox x and flight sim and the T.Flight Hotas one for his birthday earlier this month and he has been a bit frustrated with the controls, as you can imagine. He’s not at all tech savvy so I get called in to help and your video was very informative. One thing I am wondering about is the fact that there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the hat to pan instead of snap to the quick-views. Also, it’s pretty much impossible to navigate the menus fully using the hotas, which is extra infuriating, because it’s already a pain without a mouse.
@@jimm2100 regarding any possible update for the thrustmaster one on an xbox x - how would this update happen? is the update issued by adobo/microsoft from the marketplace or will thrustmaster offer it on their site as a usb stick based update? Will it be offered as a marketplace hot fix and updates any thrustmaster that is attached to a xbox regardless of if you want it or not? The process would be good to know.
Brilliant. I am so utterly disappointed in the poor implementation of the configuration for the HOTAS in MFS xbox. I've been duplicating and testing for days to make a workable config. Because of the terrible config we're stuck with, the ability to pass the Activities is also hampered as the system does not acknowledge the default mappings. Trainer tells you to turn on Smart Camera mode and does not recognize the pilot input. Trainer asks you to perform a pitch down, and does not understand the input. My investment so far has been a new xbox, the FS software and the HOTAS one. I'm miserable. $800 invested and cannot even play the game as delivered. It works for free flight, but you get my point. Thank you for the video, I guess I'll wait for an update. Subscribed and followed, notifications on. Hoping to hear something soon.
I'm on the same boat (or in this case.. plane) as you guys.. I bought the Series S, the flight simulator and the HOTAS controller.. I got so frustrated that I just started playing with the regular controller.. I hope this video helps

Thank you SO much! I actually thought my Hotas was broken, it's quite old and I used to use it in Elite, but haven't played that for a while. So when I went to set it up for MSFS on Xbox series X, and found the anomalies you showed, I presumed the Hotas was useless and went back to controller. I'll spend some time tomorrow setting it up as I like, using your guide as a help. can't thank you enough.
For anyone passing by.. If you get creative with your hotas button bindings in addition to using your controller on the side, that helps.. And for the loose throttle, get some duct tape (I used Gorilla Tape). - I use two little strips of tape on both sides to where at the base of the throttle stick the tape forms something like a T, with the longer strip being on top. So that it glides in a ramp-like fashion towards each extreme of the throttle range; increasing in resistance the closer I get to minimum or maximum. - Just make sure in your controller screen that you can still go from 0-100 with your throttle range and that the tape isn't cushioning it, preventing the last one or two percent. Then it's actually pretty good. 👍

Came here after playing with those same menus, thinking that either the Xbox wasn’t supporting all of the axes, or that maybe I had to do some settings somewhere in the Xbox settings to enable the joystick to be recognized or something. This confusion was entirely because of the Search By Input box showing the wrong values, just as you showed. It was SO GOOD seeing someone else had the same issue, so I knew I wasn’t alone. Keep up the good work!
Thank you; excellent video .. Out of the box it helped me figure everything out instantly. I come from FSX since 2006, to Xplane 9, 10, and 11 ... have been flying for years... Just made the switch FS2020..... This is a great video because one thing I don't want to do is waste time.. I hate having to learn everything again.
I loved making the button changes you taught me to do. I wholly agree that Thrustmaster and Asobo /Microsoft need to come to this party and fix these problems. I hope that it makes money for their xbox division or it will be bu-bye by next Christmas.

In flight school at the moments (for helicopters) and now that helicopters officially are here on MSFS2020 I was so thrilled until the controls made so little sense... I'll spend a good amount of time making some configuration that feels as natural as flying the real thing (although we fly R44's but still)!

For what it’s worth, I run flight sim on Series X, with my HOTAS one using a developer preview console build. Can’t replicate the issues you have with my HOTAS one, so hopefully a fix is on the way for everybody.

As for the lack of an axis setting for reverse thrust.. strange it can’t be setup- especially since the throttle hardware has a built in deten, you would suppose is there for just that purpose.. anyway; ‘decrease thrust’ is the way the bravo throttle deals with reverse thrust and since my x-box is my traveling rig, I’m happy with that functionality.. ..also very much appreciate the rebinding of the trigger.. a much more intuitive application for the service brakes.. and I never use the ‘smart camera’ anyway..

I stupidly bought the Hotas One on the understanding that it was supported on Xbox Series X from launch. I mean, I watched Jorg Neumann (head of MSFS) saying as much on TH-cam videos, spouting what I now realise was Peter Molyneux level Walter Mitty bull. MSFS forums full of complaints, which are being ignored. Weeks and weeks later, still no hot-fix, or solutions. Shameful behaviour and typical, sadly.
Mine has stopped working on the beta 10 update on the Xbox. It don’t control my plane at all or the pedals. I went back to the standard version and it worked again. Have you had this issue?
@@SimHangerFS I had to go on it as my game was lagging and unplayable. It has been great until the Wednesday update. It even added the Dreamliner jet for me :)
Problems I found in the Configurator for my Joysticks on PC: Pressing the assigned buttons no longer highlights/shows the displayed button being pressed Also, for the Assigned buttons/axis: if you expand/collapse, when expanded after a few expand/collapse, in expanded, it shows non assigned commands as well. If you collapse then expand, only Title categories are expanded, not their children! It worked PERFECTLY before Sim Update 5 ... This is a mess indeed.
Hello. Can you please do a video of how to reset the controlls for both the Hotas and Controller for the Xbox series X. I am having trouble with operating the Spoilers on the Airbus during the takeoff training. All the adjustments i have made have now multiple uses and have saved 4 or 5 profiles. Confused! Thanks. So instead of this T.flight HOTAS I am trying to use T.16000M with rudder on Xbox series X. Anyone experience with PC mapping software and perhaps a mapping to share? So basically with Xbox app on Windows 10 one can stream locally from Xbox to PC vice versa so to run FS2020 on Xbox series X while using a 'mapped' HOTAS controller through the PC app.

Hi friend, I have a Thrustmaster Hotas X joystick, On the FBW A320, I can't get into Idle, I put the throttle towards me but the plane's throttle is between Idle and Climb. How to make them synchronized please ? Do you have a driver for the Thrustmaster hotas X ?

Hi mark , all was fine until suddenly the axis on back of throttle now is the same as the axis on my twist joystick... I used to have trim back of throttle, and rudder on twist joystick.. now they're both the same axis so if one does something, they both do.. any idea how to fix? All was fine until I landed at an airport, suddenly atc weren't making any noise (still talking on text but couldn't hear them anymore) and my hotas went all messed up...

The throttle tension is equally horrendous. I heard the throttle can be taken apart and replace the spring to have better tension. I am looking for suggestion/link to a better replacement spring.
Hi Mark, thanks, not on the Xbox myself, but that must be disappointing. You would think they test before releasing. On PC I noticed that after update 5 the profiles load very slowly and when you select a button you have to also un-select it before the interface will let you continue saving, navigating etc.
This video is now 2 years old. Are the configuration problems mentioned herein fixed on the latest release of MS Flight Sim? I just ordered this controller and am waiting for delivery.
I’m having a problem where if I try to use afterburners on the f-18 the throttle will only go to 80 percent and I have to use my controller for afterburners, any ideas on how to fix this?
I have one question, using the f18 I cannot activate the afterburner with the hotas but I have to push A on my controller every time. Is there a way to have the afterburner working from the hotas?
Hi Mark, i’ve been flying with my HOTAS One on Xbox for a year now without issues. However now, in control options it does display the hotas one controller but the default assigned keys are just blank. i can’t fly. please help
Likely to be a sim bug. Try uninstall Hotas …restart…and reinstall (latest driver) ….restart, and check if default is back. Other alternative is to configure manually.
I can’t find the answer to this question anywhere else. Can I use the HOTAS for the flying, then use a mouse within the cockpit to push buttons in the plane? For Xbox Series S

Hey so I’m on Xbox Series X and haven’t even booted up MSFS yet and haven’t plugged my hotas in ever since I’ve installed MSFS (I’ve only used the hotas for Elite Dangerous), and I’m wondering how I would even go about installing drivers or magazine files since I’m on Xbox (and don’t have a PC at all). Because I keep seeing people mentioning downloading and managing software for this game and controller on the Xbox, but as far as I’m aware you cannot directly manipulate or manage those things on Xbox. Apologies if this question is too wordy and/or unorganized :)

I noticed you can’t even select the training mode activities with the HOTAS alone and would need either Xbox controllers or mouse. Do you recommend using a Mouse on XBox for MSFS?
I tried my HOTAS for the first time today & it just wouldn’t work at all!! Couldn’t even get the game to register throttle up or throttle down, no control on the stick whatsoever!! The only functions that seemed to work were pause & the A button!! Not sure if there may be more problems for me as when I tried free flight I couldn’t even accelerate down the runway whilst using the HOTAS, let alone fly!! Very frustrating.
@@SimHangerFS that was my first thought. I absolutely did. I may try again, but right now, I’ve been restricted to trying to play with a standard controller which with any form of flying game, is not ideal.
Fantastic video, but my issue is that my HotasOne (same as my VelocityOne) are not coming up in the peripherals list in the Control Options (8:30).. What am I missing?

Tks for your nice video. However, after having create my setting, as soon I start a new flight, MSFS reset my joystick by "Default"....Unable to selecxt my own setting...tks for your help. I play with Windows 10/Steam. Thrusmaster T-Flight stick X
@@SimHangerFS At least, if you leave the game in Quick Resume mode, it will keep track of your sensitivity settings. For now, this is a nice workaround.
My t flight only works on my when my controller is on. Basically my xbox controller is my mouse for the menues and then once in cockpit i can use the hotas for everything.
This is a sim bug unfortunately from a recent update. Manually configure in control options or wait until 11 Nov for update to see it that fixes it. During update make sure TM unit is not connected.
I recently experienced a glitch that removed all of the default button mappings for the Hotas One Thrustmaster. I'm on Series S. Not sure if this is a bug but if anyone can help me with this issue much thanks. Not sure I have the patience to sit and map these all out.

Yes, same here….download the driver again from Thrustmaster again and install…it solves the problem. 👍

Yeah I thought mine was broken because f2 for landing gear doesnt work and I just picked mine up today. Hopefully I can get it fixed.

I can't figure out how to make the curser show up so you can move the camera that way and click things, like you would on the controller

If you bought the xbox version hotas and it does not work it may be defected. For sure it works with alll xbox consoles

So basically with Xbox app on Windows 10 one can stream locally from Xbox to PC vice versa so to run FS2020 on Xbox series X while using a 'mapped' HOTAS controller through the PC app.
Thank you for this video. I thought I was being obtuse trying to set this up with a T.Flite One X, it just is not intuitive nor does it promote good control. Frustrating, I look forward to an update, the rest of it is amazing. Great graphics etc, but poor controls.i

Quick question (and doubtless a stupid newbie one !): I'm assuming that simultaneous connection of a T.Flight and a keyboard to my Series X is workable ? I want to be able to enter characters into the flight management computer without having to disconnect the T-Flight (or vice versa).

On the FBW A320, I can't get into Idle,
I put the throttle towards me but the plane's throttle is between Idle and Climb.
How to make them synchronized please ?

So I’m on x box one, and I’m using the T flight Hotas 1. My problem is that it won’t connect, when I go to controls options nothing shows up to connect to. But my controller works just fine. Any idea why?

Hi mark , all was fine until suddenly the axis on back of throttle now is the same as the axis on my twist joystick... I used to have trim back of throttle, and rudder on twist joystick.. now they're both the same axis so if one does something, they both do.. any idea how to fix? All was fine until I landed at an airport, suddenly atc weren't making any noise (still talking on text but couldn't hear them anymore) and my hotas went all messed up...
I’m not sure, but sounds like your hardware is faulty. Uninstall your TM drivers completely and reinstall. Worth a try.
Does anyone know roughly when the patch to fix all this will come out? It might have been in the video but I missed it...

The throttle tension is equally horrendous. I heard the throttle can be taken apart and replace the spring to have better tension. I am looking for suggestion/link to a better replacement spring.

On PC I noticed that after update 5 the profiles load very slowly and when you select a button you have to also un-select it before the interface will let you continue saving, navigating etc.

I’m having a problem where if I try to use afterburners on the f-18 the throttle will only go to 80 percent and I have to use my controller for afterburners, any ideas on how to fix this?
I’m not sure, I use a button on my joystick to toggle afterburners. Doesn’t impact my throttle axis.

I have one question, using the f18 I cannot activate the afterburner with the hotas but I have to push A on my controller every time. Is there a way to have the afterburner working from the hotas?
Afterburner can be configured to a button, but unfortunately not an axis in your control options menu.

Hi Mark, i’ve been flying with my HOTAS One on Xbox for a year now without issues. However now, in control options it does display the hotas one controller but the default assigned keys are just blank. i can’t fly. please help
Likely to be a sim bug. Try uninstall Hotas …restart…and reinstall (latest driver) ….restart, and check if default is back. Other alternative is to configure manually.

Can anybody tell me why my throttle powers up when I use the twist axis for rudder control?
Hey so I’m on Xbox Series X and haven’t even booted up MSFS yet and haven’t plugged my hotas in ever since I’ve installed MSFS (I’ve only used the hotas for Elite Dangerous), and I’m wondering how I would even go about installing drivers or magazine files since I’m on Xbox (and don’t have a PC at all). Because I keep seeing people mentioning downloading and managing software for this game and controller on the Xbox, but as far as I’m aware you cannot directly manipulate or manage those things on Xbox. Apologies if this question is too wordy and/or unorganized :)
Thrustmaster Hotas one is supported with a default config directly in MSFS. You can download add ons in the sim from the inbuilt marketplace tab

Does anyone know of an easy way to use free view rather than just hard left/right while in the cockpit?
I noticed you can’t even select the training mode activities with the HOTAS alone and would need either Xbox controllers or mouse.

Yes I use a wireless mouse and keyboard. (cheap Logitech combo).
I tried my HOTAS for the first time today & it just wouldn’t work at all!! Couldn’t even get the game to register throttle up or throttle down, no control on the stick whatsoever!! The only functions that seemed to work were pause & the A button!! Not sure if there may be more problems for me as when I tried free flight I couldn’t even accelerate down the runway whilst using the HOTAS, let alone fly!! Very frustrating.
Check you have the switch on the unit set to Xbox or PC as needed.
@@SimHangerFS that was my first thought. I absolutely did. I may try again, but right now, I’ve been restricted to trying to play with a standard controller which with any form of flying game, is not ideal.

Fantastic video, but my issue is that my HotasOne (same as my VelocityOne) are not coming up in the peripherals list in the Control Options (8:30).. What am I missing?
Make sure it is not in Xbox mode
Throttle in my hotas shows 33% powere when I pull it full up? Wtf? How do I fix it?
Check in sim sensitivity settings and/or recalibrate axis in Windows. Check axis travel in other aircraft to see if it is specific issue or general.
Good video, but getting controls to function the way I want them to is a hassle & a mess, almost enough to move me backwards to prepar3d on the pc

This is a Huge bug in MSFS that they have to fix. Its a rudder issue. Not your fault.

Yes change the pov assignments in the config options menu.
How did you get the mouse and keyboard to have a profile on your sim I can’t do it at all and it’s frustrating
It has default profiles. Create others by using profile manager, duplicate etc.

@@SimHangerFS At least, if you leave the game in Quick Resume mode, it will keep track of your sensitivity settings. For now, this is a nice workaround.

My t flight only works on my when my controller is on. Basically my xbox controller is my mouse for the menues and then once in cockpit i can use the hotas for everything.

This is a sim bug unfortunately from a recent update. Manually configure in control options or wait until 11 Nov for update to see it that fixes it. During update make sure TM unit is not connected.

Check it is visible in Windows. Try alternative port.

I recently experienced a glitch that removed all of the default button mappings for the Hotas One Thrustmaster. I'm on Series S. Not sure if this is a bug but if anyone can help me with this issue much thanks. Not sure I have the patience to sit and map these all out.
