  • 2025 Indian Scout Platform has completely changed! New frame, suspension, brakes, tech, tons! Is it worth upgrading to the speed plus 1250 motor? Will the 4 inch ride command tech offer all it says? Is the new suspension a game changer? Let's talk about it.

I just looked up the new Scout 101, pretty amazing looking, like the way they shorten the front fender, I agree with you, keep the 2017, You know I have a HD Road King, but also a Sportster 1200 custom, I love that Sportster , Only wish it had a 6th gear. Can't wait for my Indian dealer ( right down the road from me) to have a demo day to ride the Scout 101.

I'm running with a 2019 Scout Bobber in beautiful White Smoke. I love that baby and like you, I am intrigued by the 101 and am running the same struggles through my mind. Although the new 101 has 3" travel and mine has 2", I expect a Saddleman will help with that, no CarPlay in the 4" infotainment (and they ar charging after the 1st year?!?!) and I have a Quad lock for my phone, 2 brothers racing exhaust, and stage 1 tune with air cleaner. Needless to say she races!!!! I ride with my hubby riding a Road Glide with stage 4, I keep up with him off the line and down the road with ease, she is nibble and reliable, and garners lots of compliments. Sure no cruise control or fuel gauge but the depreciation on my ride and the new ride not worth it. I think, like you, I'm keeping mine and may add the saddleman, wind deflector, and fender rack and do the Challenger Dark Horse down the road.

I own a '15 Scout in reflex silver smoke/black. Best cruiser ever. I have every option/upgrade available & unless the new bike was crazy better, we both know that it's a $25,000 bike as it'll ultimately will cost w/ bags to Kuryakin bar end spikes!
I can tell, your bike still rides & sounds new. It has been customized to perfection by you, for you- exactly the way you want it!
Having 2 Scouts? Silly & unreasonable achievement. Your 1st gen was/is so good, Polaris had to distract us w/ new tech in your gauges? How different is the frame? My guess is- not that different! Sure, they addressed some 1st gen concerns, perhaps reduced the risk of frame cracking & vibration over time, etc...the elements may different, but the essential frame is probably mostly unchanged.
Finally, the Scout is Indian's entrance into the Brand. Lowest price MSRP & every other Indian is shinier or shows more glossy paint. At $17k- you can bet there are fewer milling by the door to go in, right? H-D has lots of bikes below $17k.

Totally agree with you on your Scout! I would not part with my 2016 either. I've got it where I want it and I'll keep it till I can't ride anymore. I'm use to all its Flintstone features, and I like its simplicity. Less to go wrong. Plus my mileage is anywhere between 48 and 55 mpg depending on how hard I'm riding it. But truthfully I'd probably go with the Chief for the money over the Scout. Hey you did forget about that stator leaking that was under warranty also. My Scout had both those issues also. Great video ABUSA! Keep riding and stay safe!

We all go through these mental gymnastics so let me help you. 2024-2017 = 7 yr old. 7 yr old bike (mileage?) is still worth something and is in good working order. Sell it. 10 yr-old bike, not so much value and who knows on the working order. I don't need to convince you to test ride the new 101. Once you do think about the cost of buying now or later. Put your emotional connection to the old bike away. Selling my 10 year-old 2014 Indian Chief with all my mods was very difficult because it still ran perfect. When you start to age and your back aches after 1-2 hrs and your desire for the V-Twin cool loud pipes wanes you may do what I did. Remember the old bike and ride that GW bagger (the new anniversary 25 bagger?) into the sunset lol!

Excellent owner's perspective, thanks. I too have an "old" Scout (2018 model). Just last week, I actually got the chance for a demo ride at Big#1, Birmingham, AL. Understandably, the Scout 101 gets all the attention. I do get the chopped fender bobber style but Im no fan of the "hacked off with a Sawzall" look of all models except the new Classic - more my cuppa tea. Liked that ABS and spoked wheels are standard now. Both of those options would have been $$$$$ on the current base level Scout. Finally, given that it's an "all new" frame, I was disappointed Indian didn't take this golden opportunity to pump up the proportions a bit. It's still too cramped for a normal 6ft 200+lb person. Great to see and ride the new Scout lineup but other than improved engine performance, I cannot get overly excited about trading up right now. Cheers

If you have a pre 25’ scout It makes very little sense in my opinion to get the 25. You’re probably looking at close to 20k OTD. Like most scout owners, I did all the usual upgrades to include the mccruise control, It just seems like for 20kish there’s way more bike you can get out of the same category as the scout. Then again I am a firm believer that Indian didn’t really intend for the new scout to be for current scout owner because like you said, it’s more of a lateral move.

No, don't get rid of yours. You've made it unique to you and there's never going to be one like it again.
I'm the same with my CTX1300. It may be 10 years old and certain parts are hard to find, but it handles and rides too damn good.

Game changer? Sorry, no, capabilities alone don’t make a game changer on the market. Even if these capabilities and the architecture can initiate that game change. Marketing and Market Demand, both badly exercised aspect by Polaris on the international market do not favor a “game changer” impact. The FTR was a game changer if you so will, but it changed zero games. neither did the new Chief variations. Not on the International Market, not next to Ducati, Harley, KTM, …
Oh, and until I see a real life version of the scout classic and 101 I join existing owners who think the exhaust is sheit (especially for international markets without alternatives and with regulations) and so is the engine style, flat watercooled, barely any structure, the older looked nicer, heck, even the powerplus looks better.
But as said, that’s just based on pictures. Live-View will take time.
