Ordered one yesterday. Typically not a fan of smaller blades but if they're ground thin to be good slicers then I'll look at them. I have a chaparral, (raffir noble), and it's a laser. The sage 5 is bigger with a nice thin grind. Love the wire clip and the quality of spyderco's coming out of the taichung factory. Looking forward to getting it in hand. Excellent review.
Hey there, I'm late to your TH-cam party but glad I made it. Good review on the Sage 5, one of my favorite EDC knives. Wanted to point out that Alistair Phillips (designer of the Spyderco Kapara) has a TH-cam video where he demonstrates how to add a sharpening choil to a Kapara with a 3mm round diamond file. It's a simply and easy procedure that I did on my Kapara as well as my Sage 1, Sage 2 and Sage 5. It only takes about ten minutes to do one and I think worth the time and effort, assuming you want to sharpen your knives without inducing a bit of a recurve to your blade.
Yes the Sage 5 is simply the best. I have a Manix 2 and and Smock and I like both of those, but my Sage 5 is my preferred go to. It’s just the all around perfect Spydy for me personally.
Great vid. My vote is the slysz bowie. But I like a titanium knife more than carbon fiber, I like the titanium frame lock, the fit and finish, the good looks, and a sharpening choil. Carries well in the pocket and slices like a beast.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW. I THINK YOU HAVE EXCELLENT TASTE IN KNIVES. I HAVE THE SAGE 1 WITH CF SCALES. I LIKE THEM BETTER THAN THE PARA 3. LOOKING FORWARD TO TRYING OUT THE SAGE 5. REGARDS.
Had a sage 5 in my pocket today as been working in the yard, wearing light weight shorts - you don't even know its there, nice knife, been carrying it a lot lately. (PS Torx are T8, not 10, cleaned mine last night.)
I have a PM2(too big for daily EDC) and a Lil Native(great knife for EDC but a little small). I think this Sage 5 is a perfect middle ground, good size, steel, compression lock, ergos. Thoughts?
Love my sage 5 , good slicer and light weight and a bit slimmer than my para 3 overall there both good but the sage has more pocket time , thanks for the video
I own both of these knives and you did an excellent job on the review. The edge of the Spydie hole on my Para 3 is much smoother on my Para 3. The Sage 5 hole edge is a bit sharp. My Para 3 is the exclusive with 51200 steel. Not sure if that makes a difference on the Spydie hole edge.
I like the Para 3 more than the sage 5 simply because I think the para 3 is a better looking knife. Like you said, the sage looks a little bit like a grandma car:) the sage is probably a better slice and performer though. That’s just my opinion. Thanks for the video:)
I was a little concerned when I ordered my Sage 5 too. When I got it the knife was every bit as good or better than the U.S. ones I have. The Sage 5 is a beautiful knife.👍
Great video. I loved your presentation. Thank you.

Do you by chance know how thin the sage is behind the edge?
@@mikeoxuge9453 I don't know the actual number, it's not as thin as the chaparral. I'd guess around 18/1000th.
I just ordered one on amazon. Should be in tomorrow. Can't wait.

You can't go wrong with a Slysz bowie. It's one of my favorite knives also.
Trevor Squire wanna well you SB?
I like the leaf blades over the "humpback" blades.

Great video, thank you for the review. Is the para 3 in your video custom? I can't find it anywhere online.

The Sage 5 was the first Sage with a lanyard hole, 1-4 no hole?
