Surprised there are only 2 steel choices. Would sell more of the 940. Not everyone wants or needs S80V. would have liked to have seen it with CruWear or a less expnsive S____V steel....S45V, S110V.....S30V "works" but it's an old steel. ..

Major? Nope… Edit: yea but dragonfly, ladybug, man bug, and and and and is only in comparison to being small knives. The blades are different, the locking mechanism are also different. Minus some of the knives are Lockbacks, some are Slipjoints, some are Compression which is similar to liner lock but different and not the same, and not just because it’s on the spine.

With all due respect to BladeHQ's lock tests, their methodology on that test was flawed: they put their wire loop right over the lockbar of the lockback, effectively pushing it into place when the motor started pulling. That is probably the reason why the lock didn't fail and the blade broke. I think they should have moved the loop further up the handle to avoid any direct interference with the locks.

Bet most any custom maker will make you a set of steak knives out of whatever steel you like! It's just a matter of how much you want to pay? Couldn't justify $140 for a steak knife made out of a premium steel like M390 given the tasks they are typically used for. There are some decent or even higher end offerings out there without burning money then God forbid you drop one on the floor or throw it into the sink and damage/break the tip or worse. Thinking a set (4) is setting you back at least $500+ depending on materials, design etc...💵💵💵

I love mine to but I filed in a sharpening chole then Dremeled off the little point on the finger chole. Big improvement. It took me five minutes. You are right Spyderco should change this going forward at this price. But all in all I love this little knife. Also re move the clip and carry it in the fith pocket. I find it to easy to loose carried the regular way

Same flaw as the Shaman. It's no big deal. I love playing with my Shaman and the Para Military 2.. I just get my index finger out of the way. You just need to time it. After a few tries, you get the hang of it.

That looks like a very nice steak knife and would make a great multi-purpose food prep knife. Over the past 30 years, I have concluded that standard kitchen knives are either too big or too small. So I have embarked on the mission of finding better multi-purpose food prep knives. Recently, I have concluded that jumbo non-serrated steak knives are a great choice. Long enough to cut large melons, strong enough to cut cabbage and dense root vegetables, small enough to peal apples and potatoes, and sharp enough to thinly slice tomatoes and steak. Recently I bought a set of Dalstrong Gladiator steak knives and am very pleased - but this one looks like another great option. Good product review video.

I chose a pre-1982 penny. prior to sep 1982, pennies are 95% copper, 5% zinc. after that point they’re 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper. steel is harder than either but i felt better with copper. perhaps irrational on my part 😃

I actually just bought a zdp-189 Hizen earlier today. I own a Higo 2 and it has the zero grind but it looks like the Hizen has a secondary edge bevel so it should be easier to sharpen but I don't have the knife in hand yet so maybe what looks like a secondary edge bevel is a kinda optional illusion. Hard to really tell but I'll find out probably Monday or Tuesday when it gets here.

And yes.. the HIZEN does have a secondary edge. You.. I hope if rockstead backs their knives like they should and say they do.. pay nothing for shipping and fixing. Please let me know how everything works out for you. Wish you the best Paul. Thank you.

@@Chris-fq4xz I just contacted Knife Center and told them I noticed a little chip on the blade near the point. My eyes aren't the best so I didn't notice it for a few days and I never cut anything except paper just to see how cleanly it passes through paper and that's all the use the knife had. They gave me a full refund so it worked out. I also have a Higo 2 gold anodized titanium with carbon fiber overlay scales and It's the crown jewel of my collection. Love that knife. 67.3 HRC.

I bought my first Spyderco in September of last year (2021). It was the Para 3 in S30V with black G10 scales. I thought to myself no knife collection would be complete without at least one Spyderco. Now I've got 12 from Golden Colorado, 4 from Taichung Taiwan, 3 from China and one from Seki City, Japan. Para Military 2 (3 of them), Para 3 (also 3 of them) and the Shaman are my favorites.
