I really need to dive this for one main reason. When I graduated high school, I went off to college and a buddy of mine went into the Navy. He spent 3 and a half years of his life living on the Spiegel Grove, AND I have a shoebox full of letters from him that are on Spiegel Grove stationery. It has the Grove watermarked on the envelopes and paper. I joked that I should take an envelope and triple laminate it, dive the Grove and clip it somewhere on it. A dive buddy immediately replied that I'd then get fined for littering! Cheers
Hahaha that is true with what your buddy said unless the marine park gave permission I bet.
It is a really cool dive and yes can have some current on it but so worth to do it one day.

It an awesome wreck. I love the Vandy too! Tried to get on Bibb and Duane a few times but always blown out
James had us up for dinner after which was awesome and the food was incredible
January water. Yep 5mm for me too. Fantastic video. I enjoyed it very much. Love the ship. If I had to choose between Spiegel and the Vandenberg I’d just say naw.

The captain is awesome!! I love his "Just come up if you get blown away, don't worry about anything, we'll come and get you." He was fabulous!! Seems like a wonderful operation to dive with. Diver's Direct is HUGE!!!!!!

@@BlueHorizonDiving I just finished a dive in Key Largo and the outfit we used wouldnt come get you....I had to swim back to the boat. So this is so awesome to hear.

Did you make it into the "Top Dog" passageway? The Spiegel Grove is my all-time favorite wreck (so far...). The last time I was on her was 2014, I plan on seeing her before the end of the year, along with my other favorite, the Duane. And of course, the always required trip to Divers Direct. It is really tough to walk out of there... 😊😊

It is an awesome wreck to dive and dived it a few times over the years but Holly’s first time.
Really want to dive the Duane but always get cancelled, is it good?
@@BlueHorizonDiving You would know. "Snoopy" is painted on the floor of the passageway with "Top Dog" top and bottom. It is still guite visible. I volunteer to guide you and Holly, on your next trip... 🙂
And the Duane is AWESOME. It usually has a current, but the superstructure can hide you from it some.
Incase anyone out there was wondering, I spelled out A-L-B-I-N-O because there was an albino trunk fish poodling round the wreck ☺️

Yes! Key Largo is my go-to dive spot in the US. I use Rainbow Reef too. They have some great people.
I know some people say not to. But I use them all the time and never had issue. Always been professional and so much fun

Love seeing the Spiegel Grove again! I can’t wait to do it again - so much to explore. Awesome shots of the flag. We had a pretty strong current on our first dives too. Isn’t Diver’s Direct amazing? It was hard to get me to leave that store. 😁

Divers Direct is awesome. Taken out kicking and screaming 😂 Actually bought my tanks and got them to ship to Bermuda few years ago. Good service
Hey Mark, Great to see the dive shop and Divers Direct in Key Largo! I used to go the NURC research lab just down the canal, for several different research projects and MPA monitoring, and have been to the dive shop there many times from the early 90s to mid 00s. Hope you got some key limes while you were there 🙂
