This is the “We Bid You Goodnight” of the BMFS generation… taking a parody gospel/bluegrass song but earnestly singing it single mic style and then throwing in the dagger last verse about the Grateful Dead is gonna make this a bluegrass classic played at jams forever
I didn't know these guys, started to listen accidentaly today and immediately recommended to a bunch of friends of mine. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro!
Dude, I strongly recommend grabbing a copy of both "Home" and "Renewal" and give his original music a deep listen. Great songwriting! Great playing! Great singing!
Never heard this song before, but it’s cute. Sadly, it’s how a lot of older folks feel. I experienced that in church when I was growing up so it didn’t matter how you came to church as long as you came and we had a group of about what they called hippies who came in their blue jeans and their T-shirts and long hair and oh did the old peoples tongues wag. Just saying
What is this style of mic called? The Wood Brothers used one in NYC a few weeks ago. They struggled to get the crowd to chill out but it sounds awesome once they got going. Super quiet but its really cool to hear acoustic instruments/vocals like this
I think it's called a suspension ring microphone or something like that. That particular one is a modern mic built by Ear Trumpet Labs in the style of a vintage mic.
🌹Double sinner here!! Long haired hippie lady and have been a Grateful Dead family member since 1979 and I adore Billy Strings!! Was at Red Rocks last summer for Billy and the Kids w/Billy Strings and watching Strings blow kisses and wave from sidestage to his froends in the crowd was ever sooooo sweet!! He is a true sweetheart amd one badass musician!! 🌹 ❤ 🎶 👣
Most people under 50 don't get the parody of this song. The falsetto, guitar links and harmony are reminiscent of 40s bluegrass gospel. This sounds so close to Carl story
@@devonoved7 yes. Years ago people would have been shouting amen. I'm a pentecostal Christian. I believe it's God's job to tell his children how t live
For all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory to god. The first time i grew my hair out, i did it out of spite. I gotta let that sin out through my locks! Hail satan. Or whatever. Support your local busker.
I REALLY _TRULY_ *SERIOUSLY* hope that no one has taken these Lyrics as a actual Christian perspective on sin... Hair length has no direct connection with one's sinful nature. ALL have Sinned, Christians with Buzz cuts included. ✌😉 I could see how a Nominal Christian might believe that. _During the Hippie movement._

Keep spreading the word Rogerio! Billy and crew are one of the best happenings here in the States!

It's a Ray Stevens tune.

@@1ElmoBUZZ true. But the way billy strings does it
Was wondering if he's implying that religious people sometimes tend to put uneccesary burdens on otherwise repentant seekers?
